The menu is full of proper pub food which is not trying to be something is it not. It serves honest home cooked food not like the usual chain pubs. We had fish and chips the fish was nice big beer battered and cooked just right so the fish was nice and moist and the chips were like what my nan used to cook. And we had a Chicken pie which we asked what as in it and were told just Chicken and tarragon but the chef can put in mushrooms is you like. So that tells you it is not a ping pub. The chicken in the pie was tender and very flavoursome and the veg and chips again were excellent. They have different themed nights like Ruby Tuesday for a curry and chippy tea for a Friday. All in all the pub was clean and well laid out, toilets were very clean with a very large picture of a fly fisher man on the wall (Bit strange). Staff were lovely and very attentive. All in all an excellent experience and I will say we will defiantly visit again as it is only two villages away might get a taxi next time and have a nice relaxing night out.

It was a Tuesday night and we walked in as the weekly quiz was about to start. We ordered our drinks and expressed our interest to dine to which the bar person explained that it was not a problem but informed us about the quiz and asked if we wanted to join in. We were then guided to a table and began looking at the menu. A few moments passed and and the bar man popped over to take our order. He seemed very attentive and took our order. I chose the steak and my wife chose the lasagne with chips. When the food came out it was excellent, the steak was the best I had ever had, beautifully cooked and a good sized portion and my wife felt the same about her lasagne. After we finished we were cleared by the waitress who offered us deserts and coffees but as we were both full we chose a coffee which was served promptly by the attentive bar man. Although we didn't take part in the quiz during our visit we were very impressed with it and are seriously considering returning to reguarly visiting on a Tuesday for a meal and to take part in the very good quiz

During week nights they have several offers on, and even though they cut on the cost, they don't seem to cut on the quality. The meat is sou fed from the local butchers, the veg is fresh, and the chips are home cooked from scratch. It is quite large inside, with a conservatory extension which adds for more dining room. I personally think it lacks the character that the main pub section has, so we usually sit in that section. The staff are always polite and friendly, and the selection of beers and ales are always good. The drinks are a tiny bit more expensive than the average price in Staffordshire, but when they are so reasonably priced with their food, you have to be sympathetic to the fact that they have to make a profit somewhere. Definitely a place for a weeknight treat with the family.

A lovely space that is perfect for anybody. From the Mummy with a pram that needs a caffeine fix from sleepless nights, to Great-Grandmas that need a break from their charity shop shopping... and all those in between. A good selection of seating areas to suit people who want to get some work done, or instead catch up with friends. The coffees are all well made and it's so refreshing to taste their guest beans that change regularly. I can also vouch for the food here. The brunch menu is served until mid afternoon and I can HIGHLY recommend the pancakes! But the food ranges from bagels to egg bennies to avo toast to toasties to bagels to sandwiches to salads. All great quality and reasonably priced. They have also opened a new place in Derby which just shows how well they're doing. Bear Coffee truly makes living in Uttoxeter, that little bit more "bear"able.
