We had concert tickets to something other than Stagecoach (didn't know it was the same weekend when we bought our concert tickets) and we could not find a room to stay in for one night in Palm Springs or Rancho Mirage because everything was sold out! Luckily for us the Old Ranch Inn had one room available the night we needed and I just want to say what an amazing room and what a wonderful peaceful, relaxing hotel. We stayed 2 nights, Saturday /Sunday. Location was perfect for us, only 40 min drive to Joshua Tree park. Very walkable to downtown Palm Springs,less than 10min. We arrived during a heat wave so suggest bringing a little umbrella! Cute outdoor patio.Our room #1 had a patio that feeds into a common grill area/pool. Evenings were great.We had pool to ourselves and sat out with a glass of wine.(Even though it was 105 degrees it was cool enough to sit out around 8:30PM) Our King suite (room 1) had a full fridge/freezer no stove but micro and little table.Very rustic and updated but we thought it was great. Room 1 is in the very front,right next to main entrance so was woken up by people coming back at 2am from bars.It could pose a problem if you get a lot more night owls lol. The entire hotel is unmanned which normally makes me little nervous .It turned out fine though. read more

Old Ranch Inn was once a frequently visited property of a 1920s Hollywood cowboy, Tom Mix. There are 8 rooms at this boutique inn, most centered around a nice saline pool. I spent 5 days in room 4. Each room has a dedicated parking spot. I spent about $200 a night the first week of May 2026. The location is ideal in the Historic Tennis Club neighborhood. It's four blocks from Arenas & Palm Canyon. You can leave your car and walk anywhere in downtown. All the best restaurants are within walking distance. The property is well maintained. Maid and pool service everyday keep this resort clean. My room had a walk-in shower, a king bed, a small kitchen with refrigerator and microwave and a private patio area. My room faced the pool. The bathroom could use a bit more light. Pets are welcome and the WiFi is very good. The pool temperature is perfect. This is a cozy, older place that is clean and within walking distance to most places you'll want to go. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding a few months ago. It's a great location and the inn itself is cute, but a bit dated. The rooms are super spacious and you feel like you have your own little apartment. The price is more affordable than surrounding boutiques but I think it's because there's less amenities. I can't recall which room we were in but it was hard to use the outlets because the plugs kept falling out of them. There was also a time where one of the rooms lost power and one of the staff members (owner?) walked into my room to check if we had power! He didn't announce himself and I was alone in the room, coming out of the bathroom. My heart sank and I was terrified. He apologized but that shouldn't have happened. All of this being said, it's a fine spot for a short vacation when all you need is a comfy bed and a pool. read more

Clean, comfy, cute, reasonably priced, and in a great walkable location to the heart of Palm Springs. Old Ranch is a small 7 or 8 room hotel, with the majority of rooms opening to a medium sized pool in a courtyard. This style of hotel is extremely popular in Palm Springs, with several hotels of similar style on our street. Our room was comfy and cute, with a king sized bed, small kitchenette, large bathroom, private fenced back patio, and doors that opened to the main pool. The room and bathroom was super clean. We had two dedicated pool lounge chairs by the pool and pool towels in our room. The kitchenette was fully stocked with plates and silverware for our trip, and they provided dish soap for us to clean up. There was a k-cup coffee machine in our room with k-cups. There was a dedicated parking spot for us too. I liked that the main door had a code to get in and out and then we had a key for our room. Dogs are permitted, and there were several visiting when we came. The entire premise was clean and tidy. Decor was a bit dated but still felt homey. In peeking in some of the other rooms, it seems that the furniture in other rooms was also a bit mismatchy, but everything looked well maintained. The tv was on the smaller size, but we didn't watch too much TV during our visit. The king bed was a bit lumpy but not awful for 2 nights. There is not hot tub but the pool was clean and heated to lukewarm/tap water level. The best feature is the walkability to the downtown space! It's 3 blocks - about 5 minutes- to the heart of Palm Springs, so we never drove once we arrived. Walking my dog at night felt safe and secure in the neighborhood, and provided a lot of great mid century homes to look at. Would come back and recommend as a safe, secure, easy, low key place for a stay. read more

No complaints here, I loved it! Palm Springs is such a cool town with all the unique small boutique hotels like Old Ranch Inn. Adults only, yay! Only 8 rooms (I believe) and many of them face the pool. It has a nice updated retro vibe. We stayed in suite 4 the King Pool Suite. It has double french doors at the front (poolside) with two loungers right out front (even more around the pool) and opens to the bedroom with a tv armoire, a chair and nice little kitchenette at the back with a mini fridge, sink, micro, kuerig coffee machine and some glasses and what not. Perfect! Out the back of the kitchenette there is another door where you have a private patio with a bistro table. The bathroom was really spacious and had a shower, large vanity area with one sink and toilet. It was quiet. It was clean. It was comfortable. I loved the location (easily walkable to town - really a matter of blocks). They did have 6 spots out front, or you can park on the street (we had no problem). I can't wait to return. read more

What a GEM. GET INTO IT: My boyfriend and I stayed here last Sunday for a mini romantic getaway in suite 3 and had the most magical time. Check in was a breeze. Jason sent me a text message earlier in the day confirming everything. We arrived after the office was closed, and I must admit we were a bit nervous about not having the office open when we arrived. I don't know why I was so worried, everything went great. We got our keys and was able to get to our suite no problem. In the suite is a folder with all the information you'll need about the grounds. After we went out on the town, we got back around 10:00pm for a late night swim. The pool is open 24 hours, but be sure to be quiet so you don't disturb other people around you. Do not waste your time going to a big hotel chain. Do yourself a favor honey and book a suite at this cute romantic inn. I love how easy it was to check in and out here. I got a text early in the morning the day of our arrival. It asked what time we will be checking in and even advised instructions how to get in etc. I love that! Convenience is so important especially when people are so busy and on the go. I feel like it's so laidback here that it runs itself. I seen one person in the office early in the morning but that was it. Location is perfect! Quiet neighborhood but still people walking around often and close enough to palm and Indian canyon where all the shops and restaurants are. There were only two bikes but no one was using them early in the morning so my bf and I took a bike ride to get coffee and it was just such a beautiful morning. They even leave you 2 cans of complimentary Minute Maid lemonade in the fridge. It's cute and clean we would definitely come back here. Oh one more thing it's also dog friendly! read more

After doing my research on places, I booked this place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This place did not disappoint. Check in was extremely easy and this place practically runs itself. The grounds and rooms are very clean. There is a good sized pool in the middle of the property. A fire pit, seating with umbrellas, ice, and water machines. A community area for sunblock, towels and disposable cups for pool area. Water misters for those really hot days. There are 2 bikes available to use which we did and enjoyed biking around the area. The inn is located close to everything. We barely used our car for outings. We biked or walked to close by restaurants and bars. Which was really convenient. Our room was located in the corner with no pool view but that was ok. The room itself was clean and spacious. King size bed, air filter and ac was so good on the hot days we stayed. Mini kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, sink and kuerig. We were very pleased with our room. We definitely enjoyed our stay here and for the price and location you can't beat that. Great little place to stay at when in palm springs! Prices will vary depending on when you go. We would definitely book a room here again. Amenities: had all the necessities and a little kitchen area with a microwave and fridge. There were plates and utensils to eat leftovers with. Room was supplied with towels, hairdryer and shampoo and more! The mattress was a bit too soft for us but that's a preference. The Old Ranch Inn had two cruiser bikes you could use to ride. We used it to go get breakfast and that was fun! Location: It is walking distance to downtown. Nice stroll to a Starbucks if that is what you fancy. I stayed here during Covid-19 and everything was great!!!! The owner which I forgot his name is so nice and showed me around my room. He explained everything and answered all my questions. This is a very cozy hotel with a pool that's open 24hrs which I was shocked to hear. My room was very spacious with a fireplace and kitchenette which had everything I needed. We stayed here last weekend. It's so cute & clean! I love the western decor. My only complaint was Sunday morning at 7:00 am a gentleman was swimming .... well splashing around and woke us up after a late Saturday night. Since the pool is in the center of the hotel and all the front doors of the hotel rooms face the pool, Maybe enforce a morning time for the pool. We literally picked the hotel because it was an adult hotel.... Hence trying to avoid the 6:00 am wake up call from kids in the pool. not the hotels fault but loud pool in the morning will wake people up because of the location of the pool. read more

I had one of the best sleeps I've had in months- then walked out my door to a lounge chair listening to the sound of birds chirping in the sun. Super cute rooms with everything I needed.. mine had a kitchenette area and private patio area with a bistro table to have a quiet coffee. The whole property is peaceful and relaxing.. the rooms are right next to the pool so you don't have far to go to get some sun. And you can walk to the Palm Springs shops and restaurants of downtown. Really nice, affordable hotel in downtown Palm Springs. The owners are helpful and enjoy seeing their guests happy which makes the stay so much more better than staying at a chain hotel. Ed and Larry are great and don't burden you with rules and don'ts. I appreciated that they made us feel genuinely welcome there. I could have stayed at a resort, but I was avoiding loud drunken crowds over the Fourth and kids who pee in pools! The website was informative and I got the feeling it was best for adults and couples, so I booked and was happy I did. Notes: the majority of the rooms face the pool and this calls for socializing and making conversation with the other guests. If you are awkward or just shy know that if you are in the pool on a hot, summer day you will prob have to walk by, converse with other guests and swim right in plain view of others' rooms. This was not an issue, but I can see how it can be with some personalities/cultures. I liked that the rooms were very clean and that there was a mini kitchen with a cold refrigerator and kitchen supplies. We used the cups and wine openers! You can also hang swim towels (provided) and swimwear in the back patio to dry. Other pluses were that it is walking distance to restaurants and shops, there is parking right in front of the hotel for guests and the A/C is strong! It had no problems being on 24/7 in 110+ degree weather in July! Other guests were really respectful and calm for a holiday weekend. It was a good find and a relaxing place! read more

A great retreat in Palm Springs! Very clean, great rooms, lovely pool surrounded by so many flowers! We visited during Coachella. We're very happy with the hotel and the service, and we'll definitely visit again! Update 12/16/2007 We just returned from a nice weekend here. We still love this small hotel and think it's probably one of the most successful options while visiting Palm Springs. Great overall value for the money. We are especially satisfied with our dealings with the owners and staff- everyone is super kind and very friendly. Our room was pretty large and had a great modern kitchenette (quite large, even). The bathroom was very nice, cosy, sweet. Just as the other reviewer said, nothing too chick or modern, just a nice, homey, a bit rustic/retro feel. Very pleasant. Comfortable beds. Sparkling clean pool that is slightly illuminated at night and is heated to the perfect 85-86 degrees (well we do prefer just a slighly warmer pool but we know we are a bit 'tropical' people :)... The only thing that we found wanting (and hasn't changed since last time) is the breakfast. I am still giving a 5 star review to the property, but the breakfast is a bit too bare-bone for my taste (and for the room price, which after tax comes up to around $199). - Breakfast counter looks almost empty... - No milk- only half&half or creamer (the small round packages that you pour into your coffee)! But we do prefer cereal in the morning, accompanied by non-fat milk... It shouldn't be hard to provide. - Only caffeinated coffee- but we drink decaf. - Very few bananas which finish right away- please provide just a little bit larger quantity, since they are so popular. - Some sweet pastries (not the fresh type) were available wrapped in nylon. No fresh bagels with cream cheese, or any other options for those of us who don't eat sweet in the morning. - Multiple tea-bags were neatly displayed in a tea-box, but no hot water was offered... I know breakfasts are costly to most hotels. But this is a Bed & Breakfast style property; adding at least the hot water pot (the one that keeps the water hot, and you press on top to pour in the cup) and adding a small quantity of poppy-seed bagels & low-fat cream cheese to accompany the neatly-displayed newspapers and magazines, would be an easy but very necessary improvement. It would make your lovely hotel even more desirable and exciting! I hope our feedback will be appreciated by the owners. We look very much forward to visiting you again. read more

My partner and I had the most wonderful experience at the Old Ranch Inn. Troy and Jason (owners) are so friendly and strive to create the most comfortable "home away from home" typed atmosphere for their guests. The location of the hotel is stellar--walking distance to bars, restaurants and shopping downtown yet still peaceful. Spent an entire day working by the pool and could not get over the view of the mountains. Each room is unique and has it's own outdoor space which is great if you want to bring your dog along like us (pet friendly)! Will absolutely be staying here during my next visit. read more

We just returned from a relaxing mid-week stay and I emphatically agree with the other reviewers opinions on the owners - they are wonderful! I don't remember ever meeting hotel proprietors who are as genuinely friendly, welcoming and accommodating as Larry and Ed. Fresh fruit and coffee/teas by patio offered in the mornings, along with a complimentary local newspaper was a nice touch. We stayed in king suite 6, which had a more secluded entrance, but also did not have french doors opening to the pool as most of the other units did. Our french doors opened instead to a small patio area with citrus trees. The patio area by the pool, complete with bar area and relaxing fountain is a tranquil spot to have brought-in lunch (main "strip" and restaurants just a few very walkable blocks away). The pool and surrounding patio area is prettily lit up at night, too - an evening dip in the 82 degree pool is refreshing to say the least! Room was clean and comfortable - our only caveat is that the night-time reading lights by the beds may be just a tad dim for some. Otherwise, a great location and value. read more

We stayed in room #8 and it has plumbing issues. Our drains would back up in the shower, sink and toilet. The toilet came within 1\2 inch of overflowing so we were afraid to use it. The toilet would also gurgle, I think whenever water was being used by the neighbors. This would happen all hours of the night. If you happened to be using the toilet when it gurgled you would be splashed and your bottom would get wet, somewhat like a bidet but with dirty toilet water. This all happened after the office was closed so we called their 877-565-3726 number. A recording tells you that the office is closed and to press 9 to be connected but it doesn't work and never connects you. The people at Old Ranch Inn could not be any nicer and their location is excellent but we did leave tired and disappointed. read more

My parents stayed here for two weeks recently and they absolutely loved their gigantic, well-appointed room and the friendly hotel owners who hot-footed icy bottles of waters around to all of the pool-goers on several particularly hot days and gently chided several out-of-towners for thinking that sodas were hydrating beverages. My parents' room was amazing, particularly for $75 a night. Huge, comfy bed; large studio kitchen and a small two-top breakfast table; and a generous bathroom with a glass shower. The pool in the courtyard is small and intimate, and the other patrons who hailed from all over the world (generally from Europe) were taking harley tours through California, or celebrating 25th anniversaries, or just happily getting away from the perpetually-terrible weather in London...and my parents loved getting to know their neighbors. The hotel is located in the perfect location: far enough away from the main drag to be a completely quiet residential area by night, but close enough to the main drag to take in the spectacle of the Thursday Art Walks or the general paraon foot. The mansions on the hillsides illuminate their landscaping in a profoundly beautiful way and there's a spotlight on the mountain as well that makes the boulders seem like a film backdrop. I spent two nights here while my parents visited. One night I spent with them in their room, and they reserved a large suite for me on another night. The suite I stayed in was in the very front of the building, and windows faced the parking lot, the main door, the courtyard, and the alleyway. I would prefer a suite in the back of the complex, where it is quieter and feels safer and more removed from the world at large. However, I'll be recommending this spot to friends and family who visit from out of town. From the great restaurant recommendations from the attentive and flexible owners, to the immaculate courtyard visited frequently by tiny hummingbirds that buzzed the adjacent foliage as we swam laps in the pool, Old Ranch Inn is one of Palm Springs' fantastic hidden gems. read more

I first stayed here 3 years ago, when Ed & Larry owned it, and when I found out they sold it earlier in 2015, I was afraid their genuine kindness and attention to detail would be lost. I'm happy to report my fears were dispelled. Check-in was a breeze and the new owners were just as friendly and accommodating as Ed & Larry. I was here in May (1-3) and August (7-9) and both visits were wonderfully relaxing. The amenities were unchanged with lots of freebies (snacks, water, juices, fruits, continental breakfast, lush beach towels, spray bottles for sunning) to lure you in. Plus, each room has a kitchenette and back patio to give the feel of a private vacation home. With downtown PS just a quick stroll away, Old Ranch Inn makes for the perfect weekend getaway! The new owners have stepped into these very large shoes and have kept up the reputation of being the best boutique in town! read more

My girlfriend and i planned a quick trip to Palm Springs for some tramway to the snow sleding. which i also recommend. The rooms were very clean, warm and the patios make it that much more special. its just off the main drag..but, still close enough to feel apart of everything. did i mention the pool which Ed insisted we could use no matter what the hour! There are eight rooms which means no crowded pool or lobby, or discourteous guests coming back from the bars talking loudly in the hallways. No bimbos or himbos talking on their cells around the pool. Just a quiet little getaway tucked away in a quiet neighborhood a few blocks from Palm Canyon. The large queen room, had a small kitchen with everything you need including a shaker and martini glasses. We decided not to go out to dinner in town but instead picked up some food from the Ralphs Fresh Faire up the street and a bottle of champagne and had dinner and drinks by the pool. After dessert, we snuggled up in the big fluffy bed, air conditioner blasting, and watched one the dvd's that we picked up in the lobby. If you want some place private, secluded, uncrowded, charming, yet not over the top, then try the Old Ranch Inn. read more

Really comfortable, clean, reasonable and charming. Not good for kids or pets or people looking for a party atmosphere. It's the type of place for rest and quiet. Not stuffy at all. Very friendly. More of a couples type of place. The only negatives is that when tehy are fully booked and everyone is out by the pool there aren't enough lounge chairs and not enough space for more lounge chairs if they had them. In the later afternoon there aren't enough sunny spots to catch those last rays. No hot tub outside either and there was no way of lighting the fire pit. Will ask about that next time. Super close to all the good restaurants and night spots. Within walking distance a couple of blocks. I would highly recommend the place. read more

Rooms are large and clean--charming. Adults only and mostly couples. They have two bikes available to borrow for rides around town. No better place for a quiet stay in Palm Springs. From before we arrived, Tim (owner) was great. We were going to be arriving late and Tim stuck around until we arrived. When we got there, check-in was a breeze and Tim showed us to our room. We were in room 4, next to the pool. It was the perfect size for the two of us. The room opens up right on the pool. The grounds are well maintained and clean. Pool area is surrounded by chaise lounges, each with their own pool towel. There is an area for sitting and talking or enjoying a snack. In the mornings, they have a nice continental breakfast which includes coffee, tea, cocoa plus hot cereal, bagels, toast, fruit, packaged danishes (only disappointing part). They also have plenty of cold water available to all guests. Tim knows the area very well and can recommend places to see and places to eat. You are walking distance from the center of town. Lots of great restaurants and stores to explore. The short walk is well lit at night. The Inn is beautiful and quiet. They don't allow kids or large groups so you're going to be joined by other small groups. It is a very intimate place to stay. We will be staying here next time we visit Palm Springs. read more
