The restaurant is nice and clean, however tables are a bit sticky. Burgers were fresh, but not standing out, but FRIES WERE REALLY GOOD! Maybe it's because we were the only table at a weird hour - the fries are made so fresh and just right - crispy on the outside and so fluffy on the inside! Definitely one of the better fries places.

A bunch of booths for dining, decent music (it's starting to fill up now) and funky decor. Bud is only 3.30 a pint a revelation for a Henley-ite and the waiter is friendly and helpful. Food has now turned up literally within five minutes. Let me taste and then carry onTwenty minutes later and two stone in weight. I have absolutely nothing whatsoever to complain about. That was a damn good meal, at a damn good price and probably one of the best American meals I have had in my entire life. Sublime burger cooked to perfection, absolutely smothered in chili, a mountain of fries, a mixed salad big enough to be a meal in itself and a pint of Bud. Grand total £13.95. Get in there!

We opted to sit outside, but the outside seating area was extremely small. Be prepared to be cramped anywhere you sit as the inside is limited for seating space as well. Nonetheless, the waiters were very nice and attentive. While my business partner drank a bloody mary (he said it was the best he'd ever tasted), I ordered a pint of Adnams Ghost Ship. I like my beers a little on the hoppy side, so this choice was perfect: not too hoppy, but still carries a citrus taste. With a menu heavily slanted towards brunch, I ordered the traditional English breakfast and was satisfied. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly worth recommending to the casual visitor.

We came one morning from brunch and loved the eggs! They do a fine cup of coffee as well. The "American Style" Pancakes where however anything but American Style. Being an American I can say I've never laid eyes on a pancake like that and I've had my share. They tasted nice, but it was essentially a couple scones made from pancake batter. We went back again for breakfast a few weeks later and brought friends from London with us and tries more of the egg dishes, bacon, and chorizo this time which were all stellar. Franks is quickly becoming our favorite breakfast and brunch place in Norwich. This Thursday we are planning of stopping in for dinner to give it a go.

As mentioned in another review, I recently spent some time in Norwich, U.K. and came to adore this…read morecity both for it's vibrant independent business scene and shops but also for the general truly European of the buildings and streets. My cousin is friendly with the owners so she insisted that we pay them a cheeky visit between lunch and dinner (for my North American friends, cheeky meaning, we were being bad and having dessert and booze between the two meals). Figbar is the magnificent creation of husband and wife team STEPHANIE & JAIME GARBUTT. I cannot do Chef Jaime any more justice so I fig-ured it best to share what I found on their website about his credentials as a pastry chef so you get a sense for the type of amazing treats I was privileged to enjoy! "Jaime brings to Figbar a stunning pastry background including positions held with Marcus Wareing and Gordon Ramsay at multi-Michelin-starred Pétrus, Galton Blackiston and Richard Bainbridge at Michelin-starred Morston Hall, and Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi in their flagship Islington Restaurant Ottolenghi. Jaime's credentials include overseeing production at Norfolk's Metfield artisan Bakery, consulting for boutique hotels and catering outfits, and running a seasonal dessert production company. He has featured on numerous international television and radio programming including Iron Chef America, Korean Food Made Simple, and Radio 4. In 2010, he opened Made In Camden as Head Pastry Chef. Following this he joined American celebrity chef Judy Joo to re-launch the iconic Playboy Club in Mayfair, London as Head Pastry Chef. From 2014, Jaime co-founded the Jinjuu Group as partner and Executive Pastry Chef, opening restaurants in London and Hong Kong." ... Needless to say, the man has extensive training and is a genius when it comes to sinful sweets. During my visit, I had the chance to try a few of his desserts. First off, the dish that my cousin claims, made him famous, a deconstructed Snickers bar, which was made of salted butter caramel, peanut parfait, and a rich chocolate mousse for £5.5! Following that, I had a second (and third) dessert which were features from their seasonal selection. The first, 'EGGNOG' which was spiced rum custard, roast plum, mulled plum sorbet, squashed fly mince pie for £6, and while it wasn't on the menu, we also had a version of the traditional English sticky toffee pudding, which was for more decadent and fancier than anything I've had in a long time - absolutely sublime!!! Paired with all this sugar we had a fancy dessert wine from I believe Hungary which was syrupy and velvety, very similar to a Canadian Icewine. It was delicious. Figbar, is a delicious place to come for a visit, as they claim, it's the best place to continue your date after dinner OR to grab a little something before the theatre or movie! Aside from the plated decadence, there's also a large assortment of ready to go pastries and yummy bites. If you're in the Norwich area, I strongly encourage you to pay a visit to Figbar - you won't regret it! Eatcrest Out!

Dimly lit but with many tables and booths, I was warmly greeted and shown to a table. A waitress tried to take my drink order immediately, but I wasn't ready or settled. A few minutes later, I had decided. A Peroni (Italian beer), the 'sticky wings' appetiser and the lamb shank with mashed potatoes for my main. The beer arrived within a few minutes with a Peroni-logo'ed glass. My second beer didn't come with a fresh glass. The "sticky wings" were supposed to arrive coated with Louisiana hot sauce and blue cheese dip. While the wings (all five were drumsticks) were quite meaty and very hot, the hot sauce itself was not especially spicy and the blue cheese was a bland ranch-like dressing. The two sticks of celery looked pretty lonely. And then, the lamb shank. Big. Hot. In a flat bowl on top of a pile of mashed potatoes that tasted fresh (not packet) and sliced carrots/broccoli (that didn't seem fresh) and lots of fresh brown gravy that was delicious. The lamb was cooked to medium (no one asked how I wanted it) and the meat fell off easily. Absolutely delicious. In fact, perfect. And at £11.25, a pretty good deal. I opted to skip dessert. Would I return? Maybe. It was good, but I think there are probably better options.
