    MS Premier Roofing & Remodel

***DISCLAIMER - This review is purely regarding the remodel aspect of this business. We did not use…read morethem for roofing and cannot speak to their capabilities or limits regarding roofing*** We hired MS Premier Roofing and Remodel to replace a shower that was leaking through the wall of our home. We expanded the scope to include a remodel of the master bathroom as well as replacement of the leaking shower and floor in the hallway bath. At the outset we performed a walkthrough of the project with the owner and agreed upon the scope. They returned a quote and we removed several lines from the project due to cost which we found far more reasonable elsewhere or elected to do ourselves. One thing I HIGHLY recommend with any contractor is to make sure that every detail discussed at the beginning of the project needs to be written in black and white in the quote. Even though a scope was agreed upon during the walkthrough, as the project continued additional costs were added throughout for basic portions of the project that should have been a part of the initial quote. The project began in late September and was initially supposed to take up to four weeks. This project was not fully completed until mid-February the following year. A portion of our work was to move a wall to make room for a bathtub. The original wall was demolished and a new one framed out. The finished wall has a bow in it and the sheetrock was not done in a clean manner. When hanging sheetrock, the screws used to hold it should only dimple the top layer of paper without driving fully through the gypsum beneath. Well before the project had even concluded, we had pops throughout the entire bathroom from the sheetrock shifting due to the screws being driven in too deep. This was repaired but the new screws were also driven too deep the second time resulting in a third repair. The replacement shower required a new shower pan to be formed and tiled. The initial pan was not sloped to the drain and left puddles of water that would not drain. We had to bring in a home inspector to convince them that this was not correct and that it had to be redone. The final product was not squared off but we elected to leave it as is. The two bathrooms were tiled but after they finished a portion each day, I would have to go behind them to make sure the tile sheets were pressed down properly and level as we found several with random height differences. Two windows were removed in the process and the exterior to be patched to match the rest of the house. The first iteration or repair was done poorly with materials that did not even remotely match dimensions and with large gaps that were just filled with wood putty and no flashing used to prevent water incursion. They redid this portion after we informed them it was done improperly and the final exterior finish was acceptable. Due to the length of time, it was taking to complete the project and the ice storm that came through, we ended up setting the bathroom door ourselves to be able to keep the area warm. We requested a refund for that portion of the work and were told they would not refund that amount and even went on to say that putting the door back on the wall was not part of their quote. Overall, when it comes to remodeling, there are better, faster, and cheaper options out there. I highly recommend you seek them out. If you do opt to use MS Premier for your remodel, be sure that your quote spells out every detail you have asked for, check their work every day before the project progresses so that repairs to poorly done work do not impact your timeline too drastically. Do you research on building codes and make sure it is followed. Be prepared to clean up after the crew as well. In short, we do not recommend MS Premier for any remodeling work.
