No!" and being instructed with a bit of a condescending tone to put the piece back. A far kinder and more respectful response would have been more appropriate, welcoming, and effective (something like the following would have been more called for: 'no, I'm sorry that is the price I must sell it for, let me know if you're still interested or if i can show you another piece at your price point'). After the reaction, as my partner was putting the piece back and we were already moving toward the door leaving, the attendant/owner half-heartedly offered the piece could still be had (for the stated price), but the damage was already done. Though it is hard to know for certain, and she could have been having a bad day or have this character with everyone and would like to give benefit of the doubt, it is possible that there were some unconscious racial dynamics involved as my partner is a Person of Color. My partner felt deeply embarrassed/humiliated and upset - and the incident left a bad taste. Warning to others and suggest the owner/attendant to examine their behavior toward customers and to treat them with respect and kindness.

They are extremely knowledgeable in their vocation. They know what they're doing and they know the proper price point. They also offer really cool and unique up-cycled products. I urge you to go check out the up-cycled vintage 80s jeans. Vintage Shop Carmel is also a consignment shop so if you yourself are looking to sell vintage or antique goods, including clothing and purses at a great price, they're the ones for you. Last, but not least the ladies who own and work at the shop are absolutely positively incredible. Not only are they knowledgeable, but they are funny. They are kind. Originally from Cortlandt, I was living out in Long Island for college and was in desperate need of a quality firm mattress due to some back problems that I had been experiencing for years. I came home for a week long semester break, and stopped by the store. Dom went out of his way to let me try out multiple mattresses that not only were on display but he went into his stock in the back and pulled out some more options for me to try out to make sure I was making the right choice with comfort, and in price range (I made sure he knew I was a poor college student). After I felt really confident that I had made the right choice, I told Dom that the only problem was a 2 hour drive out to Stony Brook LI. He was able to not only make sure that I would have the mattress before heading back for school, but he came in early on that Sunday to help me secure the mattress on the top of my car with a ton of rope and ties. Made it to out to school with no problems, and have been sleeping like a baby ever since. In a world full of big cooperations and companies eating up all the little guys, im glad to find and support a local family run business.
