My husband and I were meeting a friend and the friend chose the car park of the Old Inns Cafe. I had never been here before. This journey was made before the travel restrictions and we both felt this was the best way to meet, outdoors. While my husband was meeting his friend, I popped into the cafe but at first I couldn't enter as there is only a maximum of 4 people allowed, as stated on the door, for social distancing reasons. So, I waited outside, ready with mask on.
I hand sanitised at the door while I waited. There was markings on the floor for the queue following the 2 metre distancing rule. Once a customer left I could go in. I followed the floor markings and picked up a bottle of Irn Bru from the fridges.
I was then called forward and there was plastic screens right along the counter. I chose two breakfast rolls from the menu. I had a doubler in a soft roll with square sausage and potato scone and I got my husband a tripler in a soft roll with square sausage, bacon and potato scone, both covered in ketchup. I also ordered a vanilla latte. I payed at the end of the counter by card and I was given a ticket number for my order.
This cafe is now takeaway only so, I stood and waited where there looks like it used to be seating but it was all cleared away. There was only one other waiting, with plenty of space to keep to the 2 metre rule. I must have been the tail end of the breakfast rush, before the lunchtime crowds came along, so, I picked a good time to good in, about mid morning.
I picked up my coffee first, which I was glad as it can be quite cold with the doors open but then it needs to be for ventilation. There was many staff and cooks working and they all had their PPE/uniforms on.
Where I stood there was plenty of plug sockets, so it was ideal if you needed the charge your phone while you waited. I thought that was a good idea. It wasn't long before they called my number and I collected my order at the end counter again.
I headed back to my car to eat and wait on my husband. I got tucked in and the roll was absolutely delicious. I cannot recommend enough. When my husband finished his meeting he was pleasantly surprised I had got him a roll and he soon demolished his. He said it's the best he's tasted in a long time. So, if you're in the area, I highly recommend you stop by. read more
