Our goal: high quality, semi-custom (unique closet layout with a 100 year old craftsman home), at a fair price. We shopped around and Jeff Byrn at Louisville Doors & Closets delivered. He has the product set up in the showroom so you can check the quality top to bottom. He works with you to ensure you get what you want and provides information about options without trying to "sell" them. He provides a 3D rendering and itemized pricing for the project. He beat the prices we had from his competitors, and we believe he is selling a superior package. Jeff and his team were on time from the initial meeting through final installation. He was responsive to our needs, and very flexible to our schedule (read renovations don't always go as planned). We were also impressed by the doors we saw in the showroom. Unfortunately we had already contracted for the doors. And you should ask him about the Murphy Doors - something I've dreamed about since I was a kid. Installation was a breeze (for my wife and I) and our master closet looks great. He worked around the others working on our home - concrete, getters, and flooring work in addition to the closet installation. And it looks great. We are very happy with Jeff and Louisville Doors and Closets!

I mean, it's dirty and the guy at the counter didn't really want to help me. A real conversation:…read more"I have no way of cutting that board down, billy bob any ideas?" "Charlie, we have a saw, just cut we in half" Another real conversation, "do you carry cedar?" "Nope, we all out" "not even one board, I just need a 10' piece" "yeah we got some" "ok, could you show me where it is?" "Follow me" Everything is covered in loads of dust. BUT, even though it is a different location, 84 Lumber is the exact same company I remember growing up (was a different location but identical inside... nostalgia!) While the guy working there was not helpful and should probably be fired, they had my wood and brought back memories with grandpa.

A contractor friend of mine suggested I try 84 Lumber for some lu.ber needs which I needed for a roofing job. WOW!!! I am now a fan of 84 Lumber. Ben was SUPER cordial and helpful first thing I. The morning as we pulled in at the crack of dawn. He gave me a military discount and let me know their price for the lumber I needed was the same as Lowes, only at a grade stop above in quality. They also have a designated parking space for wounded Veterans near the front door which I thought was very nice for those who deserve it. It appears 84 Lumber has more lumber than anyone else and they will help you load it if you like. Thank you, Ben for being a great asset of 84 Lumber. I appreciated the friendly and professional service I received when I came in the door right after they opened.

The existing wood siding on my home was reaching the end of its useful life. Further complicating…read morematters was the fact that my existing siding created a lot of challenges for the installers. I got the impression that several contractors did not want to tackle the job. Luckily, I called Mike, who is one of the owners of Mengel Exteriors. He explained that he had the perfect product for a job like mine: Alside Ascend composite plank siding. It has the appearance of wood siding, but it is a Hardie Board type material. It comes in single 12" long planks, so it looks more premium than vinyl siding. It's also thinner than vinyl, so it doesn't bulge out nearly as much when applied over the existing wood siding, and the fact that this does not not require removing the existing siding saved me a significant amount of money compared to Hardie Board. So I got a more premium appearance without the anxiety or expense of tearing off all the original wood siding. And I got a product with a lifetime warranty; it will never need painting, it adds insulation, which made my second floor much quieter. It resists woodpeckers, and it even provides some protection from fire. It is a really great product... Google it. Not only did I get a good product, though, the team at Mengel Exteriors created a very well thought out plan to tackle all the tricky areas, and I am thrilled with the results. I was particularly concerned about my bay window. My house was built in the 70's, and there had already been some repairs throughout the years. I was honestly prepared to be a little disappointed. I knew this needed to be done, but I just didn't think anyone would be able to make it look right. However, crew that preformed the installation are true craftsmen. The way all the angles come together on the bay window, and how it integrates so well with the rest of the siding, there is an artistry to it. The planning and execution really separates the amateurs from the professionals. These guys are professionals! So at this point, you might be saying: "This is a glowing review, it must be fake." Let me tell you... I feel like I spent less money than I anticipated, and I am happier than I thought I would be. It's a great feeling, and it is well worth a few minutes to write a review for these deserving folks! And my experience makes me believe you will feel the same way too!

I had Mengel replaced the gutters on my house recently. Just getting the sales guy to call me back…read morewas a hassle. Then the quote did not come back as I had specified and I had to have them re-quote. It took a week to get an answer on a date the install could be done. I was told the arrival time between nine and 10 in the morning and the installers showed up three hours late, I was not here when the job was finished and when I came home found several pieces of the old gutters in the yard, multiple broken tree branches, and found many nails in my yard. The sales guy never called me back to come back and inspect the work. I spoke to the office manager about my concerns and she had the owner come visit me. He kept telling me I was wrong that the nails I found in my yard could not have been from the gutter work. I explained to him that before the work there were no nails in my yard after the gutter work there were many nails found in my yard. The owner would not listen to the other concerns I had about the broken tree branches, the gutter elbows that were left in my yard after the work was complete or the fact that the installers were three hours late. He did not want to hear about his sales guy who was non communicative for three weeks. All the owner wanted to do was argue with me about the nails I found could not have been from the gutter work. After 10 minutes of his obsession over the nails couldn't have been from his guys. I finally asked him to leave my home.

They say that they "Work with your insurance company", but that is far from the truth. Instead of meeting with your adjuster and showing them the components, they just go based off of the adjusters inspection. So, therefor, all of your roofing components will not be replaced as it needs to be. They absolutely refuse to replace Step flashing, counter flashing, and apron flashing. The exact words from the General Manager, Paul Lessee, "The insurance isnt paying for it, so we arent either!" So, with that being said, instead of doing your roof the right way, they cut corners. Flashing is a HUGE part of your roof! Flashing is a safeguard against leaks around walls, chimneys, dormers! Once your roof is done, if you have any issues with it, good luck getting them to come back out to address these issues in a timely manner. Once they get their money from you and your insurance company, they fly away in the wind. PLEASE BEWARE! There are plenty of other REPUTABLE roofing companies that you can call!!! Please stay away from Jeff Home Improvements!!!!! Picture added is for proof of them wanting to "Reseal Step flashing". People, you cannot reseal step flashing. It needs replaced when the roof is replaced.
