This place, is one of the few populated restaurants in the center of Venlo (on a weekday). Going in, there was a homely atmosphere offered with upscale elements. The first floor offered quick and smaller tables to bar patrons, while the second floor invited diners to experience a taste of Venlo. Everything was great - from the full glass of wine that was poured, to the non-intrusive but inquisitive waitress who took care of us, to the cuisine lavishly presented on our tables. But oh boy, the food - I took the gamble, and went with their surprise menu set of three courses for 30 euros. Best decision ever. You explain to the waitress the type of elements you would like (meat, fish, veggie) or any other preferences. I told her I love seafood, and meat (beef preferred). I also told her ice cream was my kryponite. She said depending on what ingredients were available, they would tailor the menu to my requests. WHAT! What chef has time to tailor a course for one table, let alone a single individual. What I received, blew me away. First course - gently seared shrimp and local fish on top of a mixed bed of seaweed salad and peppered seasoned greens. Delicious! Second course consisted of a generous side dish of fries, and a main dish of a chop of pork and two slices of one of the best cooked beef slices I've ever tasted. The cooking technique was perfection, and my knife cut through the beef like butter! Mashed potatoes, sauteed green string beans, and diced cabbage were served as well. For dessert, homemade apple sorbet, with mixed berry yogurt and vanilla cream. WOW. Talk about having a personal chef. This was a great experience, and I highly recommend stopping by here - I know I'll be back!
