They have a downstairs area with a charming array of young adult and children's books. It is a remarkable and humble place to spend an hour browsing the shelves and tables for editions that are hard to find both in London and in the States. I took home quite a few great books and will be sure to stop in again next time I find myself walking down Curzon Street.

The hats I…read morehad in my hands weren't made of gold or of such significant craftsmanship, and neither my brother or I received any assistance that would justify such an absurd price for items that could be had anywhere else for a fraction of the cost. It would be helpful to make the cost apparent. Maybe it was a matter of two brown men walking into a shop in a certain part of London, thereby breaching some sort of unwritten rule, but the staff were inattentive and ignored us the entire time we were in the store except for when I went to pay. If you want a quality hat, take the train to Brighton and go to Mad Hatters where you will find better service, selection, and have enough left over to get a meal after the cost of a hat and return train fare.

They stock clothes, accessories and interiors - the kind of stuff that London should be famous for and not bloody Topshop. I could have walked out with ten pairs of earrings, shoes, pretty little tops, but my bank manager would be none too pleased. Best of all, at the front door they had a sleeping bulldog in a basket! How much is that doggy in the window... (This was actually the Covent Garden branch I visited, you can't expect to get cute puppies at all of them)
