A dining pub, taken over a couple of years ago by Robert & Sarah (formerly chef at The Exhibition, Over and The Trinity Foot, Over). Recently refurbished inside. There are two dining rooms and a small bar in the middle - although most people come here to eat, it still welcomes drinkers. There are a mixture of chairs, some of which are not very comfortable - a poor shaped back.
A large garden at the back, with benches on the patio and on the grass. (There is one table with proper charis - there used to be more but unfortunately they have been replaced.)
A good selection of wines by the class and several beers on hand pump. The food is tasty but not over-elaborate. The full menu is available lunch times as well as baguettes and jacket potatoes (the rump steak baguette comes with thicker pieces of steak than are served most places). Some good puddings, including home-made crumbles (although the custard is a little disappointing). Main meals around £9-£16, e.g. Pork belly with an onion cream sause and fresh vegetables £10.50).
Service is generally good, although it can be a little slow at busy times. The toilets would benefits from renovation. read more
