Walk right in and you'l find that this is exactly what you want to see in a pub. It's got the old rickety exposed black timbers adorned with brass decorations, mostly bottle openers, along with old pictures and funny sayings. The ceilings are really low, like about 7 feet, but I guess people were shorter back when this building was built. Thank goodness that they don't allow smoking inside, because you'd probably choke to death.
The beer isn't so much warm as it is slightly chilled. But by American standards, it's flat and warm. On Sundays, as is tradition, they cook up a roast or something. On the Sunday that we showed up, they had sausages and potatoes.
This is probably the oldest pub in town, given that the older pub across the street has been converted into house. Out back, there's seating and a playground for the kids. There's parking in the back or on the street. read more
