Olby goes above and beyond for each job they work on. We were in the market for a snow plow and Gary had a couple of used ones available. Many places wouldn't even tell us they had used equipment cuz they're hoping we'll just buy new - Gary really puts his customers first. He was able to work us into his busy schedule and get a plow (that looked brand new when we picked it up) fitted perfectly onto our truck! Both Gary and Lynne (and the shop cat - Kitty) are wonderful and run a very fair - customer centered auto business. We'll definitely buy from them again! read more

I gave this business 1 Star because there is not a smaller rating available on the scale. And a small rating is what Gary Olby and his business deserve. Gary obviously has a chip on his shoulder. He is very opinionated about local businesses, patrons and residents and keeps a "yes" man always close by to back him up; he is quick to offer his remarks whether you are interested or not. Shame on me for not turning around and walking out the door the minute he started verbally bashing the company I work for; I was just there to have my car fixed! I was uncomfortable pretty much from the moment I walked through the front door. I took my car to Olby because he is a local business. Olby kept my car for 5 days. He charged me almost $200.00 and did not repair the vehicle. I don't believe he or his technicians ever looked at it. When I came to pick up the car, he kept me waiting over a half hour in a sweltering, non-air-conditioned office while he waited on another customer. He did not have the courtesy or good manners to acknowledge my presence in his office. I later took the car to another repair shop where the problem was easily identified and fixed. I believe I am one of many people in and around Frederic who has had bad experience with this business. I will never do business with Olby again, and advise anyone considering doing business here to seek out others who have bought a car or had service work done here and ask for an opinion. read more

My 2000 Ram 1500 was having severe electrical issues that was causing the engine not to run correctly. I had taken the truck to other repair shops and they could not trace down the problem. Gary Olby was friendly and understanding when I explained the problems with my truck and that other shops could not fix it. He said his mechanics would take a look and worked me into his busy schedule right away. His mechanics were quick to diagnosis and repair my truck. Now my engine runs smooth and I am getting much better gas mileage. This was a tough problem to diagnosis, but his experienced and professional mechanics were up to the challenge. Their customer service and repair work exceeded all of my expectations. Olby Automotive is now my go to place for any future repairs that I might need.
