Conveniently located just south of 63rd and Villa, Free Spirit Yoga Studio has been a hidden gem here in the city since it opened in 2000. Dee is the instructor and she shares a great experience for her students. I felt very comfortable here and it is a great space. She also provides mats and other exercise equipment to supplement the yoga.

After recovering from months in traction, herself, after a mountain climbing accident, she understands and empathizes with her clients whom are bed bound or cannot function on a normal basis. She works with my disabled daughter, using the Feldenkrais method of healing, which is the practice of finding the body's placement in space and moving in the best possible way to alleviate pain from the body and to create awareness of how the body is used during movement. My daughter suffers from full body Reflexive Sympathetic Dystrophy, which basically means that her brain thinks the affected areas are gone. It's disconnected. Using Feldenkrais, she's learning how to find the missing parts and how to reconnect her brain. Molly Gibb is kind, gentle, and she really cares about her clients. She works with basically any medical irregularity. We look forward to Molly's visit every week.

In any give class we'll practice both what to do with our body, as well as what is going on in our energy body. A typical class begins with warm up with some form of qi gong (energy work). Qi Gong involves slow, intentional movements that are both exercise, as well as moving meditation. Tai chi started as qi gong, turned into a form, and split into schools. After a quick break, we practice the form. The class will break into people who know the form well enough to follow, and those who are learning the basics. I've been attending since late 2014 and am truly amazed that I have access to someone like Rick with his level of experience, both breadth, and depth. He additionally teaches bagua and liehubafa, and several other forms as well. Rick is kind of an internal martial arts nerd in the best possible way.

Half the time the people at the front desk are on their cell phones, so they are to busy to refill the paper towel disperse used to clean off machines basically you are paying more for less its not open late on weekends, the front desk people do wierd things like aim the checking laser at people faces as they come in normally dont greet people as they enter or make sure the paper towels are refilled because scrolling their cell phones is more important
