If something isn't in stock it can be reserved and this is free if the reservation is made on a children's ticket. Has recently become automated which is a shame because it reduces interaction with the very pleasant staff. Everyone should be a member of a library!

They offer children's activities in the school holidays but these need to be booked as they are very popular. The library also stocks CDs and DVDs. It has lots of information about local events. The staff are friendly and helpful and they will get you books from other libraries if they don't have what you want.

A computerised system for returns and…read moreloans of books now operates which scans the books and displays the information on a large, easy to read screen which you touch to navigate through the options. This leaves the staff free to deal with customers and means that returning books is very quick and easy. Reading schemes operate for young children where they are rewarded with a free DVD for each 10 times they come into the library and retell a book they have read to a member of staff. The staff are always keen to see the children. Computers are also available on a booking system but this is usually a 'book it and come back later' particularly in school holidays or after school close for the day.

This is an excellent library with a wide choice of books and a varied dvd collection. The children's library is fantastic and they hold fortnightly singing sessions here where you can go along and sing nursery rhymes with your little ones as part of a group. The staff are friendly and will always help you find what you are looking for.

Paignton Library is a really friendly place. It is a small library with lots to offer. The…read morechildren's section is excellent and the librarians offer lots to encourage children and families to use the library for example activities in the school holidays. The computer facilities are very good and you can book a computer and internet use for free. The library may be replaced in the future, plans have been drawn up for a modern library which will have more space. I hope they don't lose the atmosphere which is lovely. The library is on the edge of Victoria Park so it is a nice place for families with children as you can combine a visit to the park and library.

Not tons of books, but the people in charge are lovely and friendly. If there's a title you're after and they don't have it, they'll order it in for you, and it will be there within a couple of days which is a really nice surprise next time you pop in. The childrens section has a nice comfy chair where you can sit and read with your kids - it's great.
