Some different friends who also Disc Golf had said it was one of the best courses around so I finally felt the urge to make it up there. The open a little early which is nice too. Entering the park is impressive in itself. There are so mnay things going on from a large lake spanning waterpark, wildlife all over, a BMX park that's a good size, and of course, the disc course. The things some had said that was obvious immediately, is that the place had far more rolling hills than any park or place in South Florida. I started off at the top of a hill and had to through down to the bottom of the hill. There were shots later where I had to throw over a pond and up a hill. From the elevation changes to the great forest and water holes, it really was worth the drive. Heck, I've been back 2 more times this month already.

During the COVID lockdown, walking the trails became my favorite pastime. Especially as a pregnant woman looking for peace and fresh air, lol. Years later, those same trails are still a favorite activity for my son and me. More recently, I've taken up disc golf and was excited to find out the group I joined regularly plays at the Okeeheelee course. It's been such a fun and engaging experience! Just yesterday, I attended a picnic at one of the park's pavilions, and it was wonderful. The swings and playground next to the pavilion made it perfect for a family-friendly event. The space provided plenty of seating and shade, so everyone could enjoy themselves without being overwhelmed by the heat. There's still so much of this park I haven't explored yet, and I genuinely look forward to continuing to visit for years to come.

I absolutely love how clean the bathrooms are and how there is always a park staff present. I also love the wash areas where you can come and bathe your dogs. The spaces for the dogs to run are big and for the most part, clean. Other dog owners do have to do a better job at picking up after their dog as that should not be the staff's responsibility. I absolutely enjoy this park and will continue to come here.

My high school (Class of 1993 baby!) held a combined alumni picnic this Saturday at Charles Hadley Park and it was a great summer afternoon of reminiscing and adventure. By adventure I meant the summer monsoon that caught us at the beginning of the picnic when one of the 305's notorious summer storms hit and all of a sudden it was our senior summer of 1992 and Hurricane Andrew. Of course the afternoon recovered, and I got to socialize, try different catered dishes and catch up with an old crush. But since I'm not Mr. Hughes either, I'll get to some details about the park itself. Located right off NW 12th Avenue and next to both an elementary & middle school, it is accessible by the #12 bus route or reminisce on your P.E. class & take a 15-minute stroll from the Allapattah Metrorail station. You can also uber there, since the gravel parking lot can get packed during events. Street parking is also available, and for big events, sometimes the neighbors are out selling home-cookedfood. With the rainstorm mentioned, drainage of the park was pretty decent in that it didn't become a Woodstock-style mud pit. Inside the park, there are a few gravel walking paths, a public pool and football & basketball court. Part of the site also includes a senior center and day care buildings. At least for our event there were no direct in-park food concessions, but the organizers dealt with the City of Miami for food trucks and grills. We also rented a stage from the Parks Department.

There are several areas with machinery to exercise. The park as a dog park segregated for large and small dogs. The walking path is beautiful with a lot of greenery and fresh air. You can see the water from part of the walking path. The trail is very nice and the park is well maintained. You feel very safe there and people are friendly. I brought my daughter and she enjoyed being surrounded by nature in this beautiful park.

The trail is mostly flat and sturdy ground and is a wide walking path. Folks like to take their dogs there so you'll likely encounter some while there! The trail is clean of litter and other major debris and is mostly shaded. It also runs pretty closely with the disc golf course. When I was there, I saw several sports teams practicing, as well as what appeared to be a CrossFit group working out. I went specifically for the walking trails, I had high expectations, they fell a little short. I expected more and longer trails. There were a lot of signs on the paths but most were very faded and you could barely read them. This park is great for families. If you live in the area and have children, I bet they are practices and games are held at this park.
