    California Roll

$17.50 for a Pad Thai? $19.90 for a Chicken Cashew Nut? $15.50 for a California Roll? Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!! However it hurts more to pay for crap food compared to paying a surcharge for decent food. Whilst expensive Oishii actually is oishii and the portion sizes are decent. A good feed to set you up for an afternoon of wine tasting in the Hunter!

A Thai restaurant that has a Japanese name, which sells a bit of Japanese food. Food are all overpriced, think whatever you can get in an ordinary Sydney food court, triple the price, and you get the idea. Quality, unfortunately, is worse than food court. I didn't see any reason to have Japanese food, knowing it is actually a Thai restaurant. Pad Thai ($20.50) and Pad See Eiw ($20.50, that's Pad Siew in any other Thai restaurant, in case you wonder). See the pictures, you be the judge. 2 stars.

Red Prawn Curry. Tiny dish and a tad spicy, which I like.

The sushi and Red Prawn curry were good, although I had to order rice separately to go with my prawns. Really? When is white rice that expensive? Overall not bad. Wait staff courteous enough but overwhelmed when busy.

The service was extremely poor and my food was terrible.....after an hour and half of waiting, I'm eating a protein bar for dinner. This is the worse place I've ever eaten in the Hunter.

We arrived early 11:30am for a noon lunch but no problems. We were asked if we would like the chefs to start our lunch early. It was windy and miserable outside so I opted for the warmed sake. It was fine but we did try some nicer sake at the end of the meal. Our plates came out in a timely manner. I think due to the waitress paying attention to how quickly we were eating. The restaurant was filled by noon and when a large group arrived at the door they had to make a decision to find somewhere else to eat. All of our food was great and we even opted to pay for a second plate. The bento boxes and other lunch time meals looked good too.I also liked the cocktail with lychee. There are quite a few eating places within a short walk of this place and they were also very busy.

Umaya happens to be around the corner from a church I was visiting in sydney and I came here frequently. I had the karage don and the katsu don bowls and they were both awesome! Super solid karage, fresh, crunchy and tender and the sauces and kewpie mayo they use is great. The katsu don bowl was also exactly as i expected it. I may not be happy about the price if i were paying AUD but paying USD it was moreeee than fair. The quality was very consistent and the service was great. Definitely a go to place if you're ever in the outskirts of sydney australia!

They respond as though it's an inconvenience to stop the roll they were making yo get someone else to bring water. Also, they overcharged us by $20! The water came 20 minutes after my request. Food: sushi was ok. The cats roll was way too sweet ( salmon on top, tuna inside). The teriyaki chicken was mediocre as well. They have packaged ginger and packaged wasabi on the conveyer belt train. The staff seem nice but I would not eat here again..the only pleasant part was a cute man sat beside me:).

I adore sushi trains. All the deliciousness of Japanese food combined with a food conveyer belt…read more I've been really lucky - all the trains I've tried in Sydney have been great. And then Newcastle got a sushi train. I forgot my one cardinal rule of eating in Newcastle - Don't Get Excited. We nipped in for a late lunch - around 2pm. We were told to take a seat politely. But that was it from the staff - no drinks were offered, I had to help myself from the drinks fridge, and we never got to order the two hot entrees we wanted because no one came near us. The hot dishes were tepid at best, and the cold dishes were room temperature, which made me cautious. Most of the sushi rolls were drowning in day-glo coloured sauces to the point that you couldn't determine what filling the rolls had. And this place has a love affair with cream cheese. More than half the rolls on the belt had cream cheese, which I initially assumed was tofu. Have you ever had a tempura prawn and cream cheese roll? It is the definition of disgusting and a crime against nature. The prawn wontons tasted odd - they didn't appear to have any pork in them, but had a slightly porky taste, which might have been the wrappers themselves or contamination. Again, served tepid. Nothing new was added to the train, despite two staff members assembling dishes in front of us, possibly stockpiling for dinner. However, the crab balls were delicious and reminiscent of those served at Thai mainstay Sticky Rice, if not hot enough. The mini spring rolls were pleasant, but again stone cold. In the end we left, laughing in shock, leaving behind at least half of our meal uneaten and went home for sandwiches. We won't be going back to Sushi Revolution again - the food is below subpar and the staff avoid you until the bill has to be paid, when they start cooing about how everything was. And, quite frankly, I may need counseling after the tempura prawn and cream cheese (honestly, how the heck did they manage to make the tempura prawn colder than the cream cheese?!) because that is a taste sensation that never needed to be invented.
