Arrived on day all water to the town was off due to a break in the water main. The baristas told us to be sure to return another day. We took their advice and returned and were we happy we did. From a great friendly, knowledgeable staff, to a fun, cozy beach atmosphere shop with many merchandise options available. A great seating area where we sat and enjoyed conversation with strangers. As coffee shop owners in Pa., this place hits it out of the park!! The cold brew dripping station was a added bonus and shows the uninformed hoe cold brew is made basically, just in a much cooler way. We are planning on ordering one for our shop. I love this place!! I was driving around looking for a decent coffee place and found this place on yelp. The coffee is really good. There are comfy chairs to lounge, tables upfront and if you've forgotten your shades, sandals or any other cool beach gear, they've got it. Nice stuff too. Not the cheapy wings stuff. read more

Having lived here most of my life and actually working on ocean isle, this place is my go to coffee shop in the area, I come by at least 2-3 times a week! There are a few other places around and even one on the island but they don't compare to surf and java. I have gotten tons of different drinks and pastries there over time and have always been super impressed with them every time. They're the only place around that I recommend to people when they ask me where to get coffee around ocean Isle. read more

Stopped in after a spin class one day with my grandfather. Everything was affordable, plus the girls behind the counter were really sweet and quick with our order. I got an iced passion tea lemonade and it tasted just like the Starbucks version (at half the price!) and my grandfather got a plain hot black coffee. They also have a drive-thru for days when you are on-the-go. Would recommend if you're in the area. read more

Ive been staying in Ocean Isle for the week and gasp, theres no Starbucks around! On the island, right across from where Im staying theres a neat little coffee shop called drift, however, they dont have iced coffee, blended coffee, etc. Well Im not big on the actual taste of coffee so I definitely prefer my fraps. So I yelped coffee shops the second day I was here and found OIB Surf and Java and have literally gone there twice a day this whole week! They do have iced and blended coffee drinks and their white mocha frap (same as what I get from Starbucks basically) is actually really really good!!! Its in the same shopping center as Lowes Foods, Dominos and the ABC store so its very convenient and easy to get in and out of! The first time I went, we went inside and they also have some really cute things, sunglasses, clothes, shoes, basically what youd find in a surf shop. The second time I went, I came in from the opposite direction and noticed they had a drive-thru which made it even better! Last but not least, EVERY time I have gone there, whether inside or through the drive thru, the staff has been amazing! So nice, very helpful, always smiling which is totally a breath of fresh air when it comes to customer service these days!!!! Oh I lied, one last thing. I forgot to bring my wireless speaker from home down and the friend I was with said he saw one in there so he went and bought it. We got it to the beach house only to figure out it was actually an AMP for a specific speaker. I brought it back this morning with absolutely no problems whatsoever. They didnt even ask questions. We found this wonderful coffee shop on our last day at the beach located next to the Lowes Supermarket at Beach Drive and Ocean Isle Beach Road (Causeway Rd). I honestly wish we had found it sooner. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience here. My order was wrong, my coffee was cold... and to top it off, there was a HAIR in my drink. Absolutely disgusting. Too expensive for what I received. Definitely not worth it. Not only did I get a terrible order, the man who I'm guessing is the manager/ owner who was giving orders to his employees, definitely needs a hair cut. This coffee shop was excellent before they had a change in management. Now, the employees seem over worked and under appreciated. Do they even get breaks? The man with the long hair (presumably the new boss) is rude to employees and short with customers, and does not seem to have a grip on the business. The coffee no longer tastes as good and costs more. The quality of the merchandise has also gone down. Also, I think I heard a dog barking inside the store. That cannot be legal or sanitary! read more
