I have to admit I didn't try any coffee drinks at OIB because I don't drink coffee, but I know if I did drink coffee, I would like this place. The vibe was really nice and they had a surf shop attached to the coffee shop with cool clothes. I got a white bathing suit that I just love the material. Women's white bathing suits are usually see through once they get wet, but this suit does not get see through and it's such a unique material and style. So I guess I am doing more a review of the fun clothes at this coffee shop but the vibe is very worth checking out. read more

I've only gone through the drive through but this place is awesome. The staff is super friendly, prices are fair, the line is quick, and the coffee is really good. I've gotten mostly white chocolate mochas iced but I've also had their cold brew and regular espresso. One morning someone already paid for my coffee. We came here every morning for coffee. The girls that worked inside were so cheerful & helpful. You could see them smiling through their masks. I have to admit I was shocked I didn't have a better experience given the great reviews. I've been coming to OIB for years and have heard great things. Possibly an off day but just an awful experience. I got a flat white - pretty basic and it was awful. Burnt and bitter and just not good. Service seemed bothered. There were 4 women behind the counter - no gloves, touching money, making drinks (with no hand washing) and just didn't seem happy to be there. Very dangerous to get coffee here. You'll go for an ice coffee and come out with a yummy coffee, a pair of shorts, T-shirt, coffee mug, and much more. This is a beautiful shop with amazing merchandise. Staff is personable and amazing. They are quick with making coffee, and when another customer was solely checking out with merchandise, one of the staff members checked her out at a closed station so she didn't have to wait in the long coffee line. Nice store. Nice people. Purely commenting on the espresso - not very good. Very burnt and earthy tasting espresso on the cigar end of the spectrum. No sweetness or acidity to be found in this espresso. We have found their drip coffees and cold brews much better. read more

We love the friendly staff, delicious coffee, cool indoor and outdoor seating options, and the MUFFINS!!!! So after multiple years of careful assessment, our family ranking of muffins is-- 1) chocolate banana tied with Island Colada-sooooo good!!! Both are moist and perfect "amount" of sweet (not overly sweet) 2) monkey bread 3) tepid reviews for blueberry (is it secretly gluten free? Quite dense). This is a neat little Coffee Shop/Surf Shop located in the Lowes Foods Shopping Center in Ocean Isle. The front of the store is all retail merchandise and the back of the store is the coffee shop section. The coffee shop section does all the iced & hot coffee drinks most all coffee shops do. I got a cup of their dark roast and it was pretty stout, that stuff'll put hair on ya chest, very good cup of coffee. Really great service from really nice and helpful folks here. I won't go into great detail about the store because they are moving in a couple of weeks to a new location nearby. So be on the lookout for OIB Surf & Javas new location and stop in for a great cup of coffee and pick up a sweet t-shirt or a surf board. I'll definitely find their new location and stop in next time I'm in town. read more

I love this cute jumping Java joint. The roasts are different each day, and they can make any combination you desire. It's a surf shop coffee house stocked with sooo many cute things. My young adult children .... 17, 18 and 22 hit this place up each time we are in town. Do yourself a favor and pick up a monkey bread muffin. Not too sweet and perfect with coffee. You can chill out in the back sitting area, people watch and listen to music while sipping your Joe. Ask for a card and get your stamp each time to earn your freebie beverage. I'm so glad I discovered this place and I love that it's connected to Lowe's Foods. Another local NC company. Favorite coffee place in the area. As soon as you walk in you feel welcome! The staff is nice and it's also convenient to look around the surf shop while you wait for your coffee to be done. I love this place!!!!! I come just about every other day to get coffee. I usually go through the drive thru which is always efficient but you can also go in the store which I would also recommend. .
