Absolutely terrible service. Sat for over 30 mins without being served or even checked on. We saw at least 6 wait staff milling around chatting with one another. We saw another couple that were waiting 30 mins to have their drinks delivered. Upon speaking with the manager, he seemed non plussed and claimed he was training staff. If staff are training then they need to serve tables in order to get trained. We left. read more

What a beautiful location nestled right on the beach and very close to the Brighton Pier. I tried to order a gin and tonic as they had quite a few different cocktails with gin on their drink menu but they were out of almost all the gins I requested. I settled for a pint and an order of fish and chips. The fish was very flaky and moist with just the right amount of batter and the chips with malt vinegar were on point. The rest of my party ordered burgers which for the price was not that great. Would definitely come back when we visit our family in Brighton for the view and sunset. read more

This place is such a mess! I came with 6 people so they nicely made a table for us to sit at. Less than 5 minutes later we were told that we had to physically move our table over because there is going to be live music and they just had to put the stage right on top of our table. We were then told to be careful because people need to get by us. This wasn't gonna fly so we asked to be moved. They said sure and to sit at any table that wasn't reserved. We sat down and about 5 mins later the host puts a reserved sign for a reservation in 30 mins. We then we're forced to move a 3rd time and we all ordered. Within minutes they brought out the two most complicated orders and not the simple orders (fries, chicken tenders, tots) about 15 mins later they brought out all the food including repeats of the orders we have already received. To top it all off they charged my friend that only got fries £14 and said they couldn't give her the money back. I have to force our server to give her a free drink to make up for that huge mistake. This place is an embarrassment to the restaurant industry and yes it's in a pretty location but please take your business elsewhere because I assure you they're going to f up you're day. read more

The main selling point for OhSo Social it's it's location - it occupies a lovely spot right next to Brighton pier, directly on the sea front. Unlike other seaside bars and restaurants, it doesn't traverse the walkway so feels a little less chaotic and intrusive than many of it's competitors. Yes, it gets busy in the height of the summer, particularly on the weekend, but I have always managed to get a table in their large outdoor area. The service may not be the quickest, but with such beautiful views who wants to rush. I have eaten here a couple of times. The menu is pretty run-of-the-mill but the portions have always been large and the food tasty. On my last visit I had the Mediterranean vegetable and goats cheese sandwich served with fries. It was served in what looked like a whole loaf of bread and it was a struggle to finish it (I did persevere!). All in all, it's a great place to take out of town visitors when the sun is shining and Brighton is at it's best. read more

I've got mixed feelings about this place. I mean there are obvious benefits to the large outdoor right on the beach seating area- it's a lovely place to sit on a warm day with friends, enjoying a jug of Pimms or a pint. But so is the beach! I can't help thinking that a big group of friends, a BBQ or picnic and few cans of cider beats overpriced drinks any day! All that separates Oh So from the beach is a fence...so its really a choice between being penned in and served you drinks and food, or roaming free and dining/drinking in a more rustic fashion! Undeniably, there is something very pleasant about perching at a wooden table and watching the sun set behind the fading West Pier, so I do tend to end up there for a drink after a day of beach lazing. I am in love with the neon letters inside Ohso Social. If I could steal them and put them up in my lounge I would. They're big and bold and filled with lights from old fairground rides. The view from this sea-front cafe-bar is also pretty staggering. If you look to the left, you can see people walking along Brighton Pier and if you look to the right you see waves crashing against the pebbles. Sadly, everything else about Ohso Social sucks. I've been a couple of different times in summer and autumn and each time, the service was diabolical, the drinks piss-poor and the food average. Oh-So café bar has, in my opinion, probably the best location of all the seafront bars, clubs and cafes. Why? Because its outdoor space is not in the middle of a walkway, but actually set aside, providing unspoilt views of the beach and the water beyond. I have only been to Oh-So for coffee and can offer one piece of advice - if it's not sunny - sit inside. The winds on that outdoor terrace are whippy man: whippy! In spite of the wind, I like Oh-So. It has a good vibe and the seating is comfortable and well laid out, so you don't feel too claustrophobic, or as if you have to rush out of there too soon. This is exactly what you want from a seafront café bar. The sea/beach are supposed to be relaxing and Oh-So matches this effectively. I'm surprised the less than positive reviews about Ohso; beyond it's fantastic location, you also find a good choice of drinks and some very good quality food. I regularly have the Ohso burger, as well as one of the relatively rare South American beers that can be found. While nothing is sensational here, it is unrivalled on a sunny day. The outdoor area is nice, providing a vibrant area for a large number of customers. On the weekends you will also find live DJ's performing, offering a variety of musical genres. read more

Well this is my first sad review here goes I recently went out to a little restaurant called Ohso Social, this far form what i think it is? The service was not very good and looking around was a bit shabby. "I FELT VERY SADDENED"but this is a review. In my observations I found the staff to very well lets say not Happy and well you can guess the rest! I ordered my meal and was so not impressed I had to go and find a McDonald's to feel satified. Ohso Social is really a summer bar. Situated right next to the Palace Pier (ok, it's called the Brighton Pier now, I know, but old habits....), and with a large outdoor seating area right on the beach, it is probably the only seafront bar that doesn't front right on to the busy promenade, making for a slightly more relaxing summer drink. Inside, it's nothing special, although not unpleasant. It does feel slightly bare inside, and it certainly has the feel of a place that was designed primarily for the summer (although it is open year round). Still, few people bother to venture down here on blustery winter nights, and although there are sometimes DJs and there is a small cocktail list, this is one to save for lazy summer afternoons. read more

Ohso social is becoming quite a regular for me when the sun is out! It's a fantastic spot right on the seafront to chill out with a cold drink, a calming coffee or some lunch if you're feeling hungry during the day. It has a large outdoor seating area with a view of the beach - a great place to go to remind you why you're in Brighton! The food is very satisfying and better quality than a lot of the places along the seafront. It has a wide selection of main meals such as burgers and steak sandwiches, as well as a variety of pub snacks. The prices are slightly above average but it's not overly pricey, and the location is great so it's worth the extra couple of pounds. The atmosphere is very laid back with quite a fun beach vibe. The furnishings isn't amazing but you don't go there for class, you go there to enjoy some food and have a few drinks with your friends on the beachfront. Despite what some people claim, the service isn't that bad, yes it can be a little slower than a lot of places but who cares when it's a sunny day and you've got a lovely view of the beach?! In my opinion - the perfect way to spend the afternoon relaxing with a cold glass of wine on a summers day. read more

Ohso Special is another of those 'cool' places to hang around Brighton, and it's clear to see why: it's all style and no substance. There's food, plenty of drinks, a huge outdoor seating area right on the beach, but it's all soured by the general lack of quality that pervades this whole place. The prices are unreasonably high, the service is gruesomely slow and rude, the food is bland and tasteless, and the drinks are watered down. The only thing that Ohso has going for it is the location: it is a pretty amazing place to sit and watch the waves crash in, and the whole set-up is very comfortable. If only there was something to eat or drink that isn't rubbish! I suppose the drinks aren't quite as bad as I made out above: they are definitely too expensive, and nothing really tastes as it should do: I equate this to them all being watered down, but don't really know: it could be the detergent they use, or something like that. The point is that it isn't as pleasant as relaxing as a bar/restaurant should be, and the food certainly isn't worth writing home about: pub classics and the like, and not very well done. I've had two exactly opposite experiences at OHSO. One was superb and the other was terrible. So I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. It's a great location and a pleasant bar. It's hard not to enjoy sitting outside there, right on the beach, looking out on the sea and the pier. The timber fence and the organic shape feels just right. They do table sevice for drinks. On the good visit, it was quick and friendly. The beer isn't overpriced because of the location (it's actually cheaper than my local) and it's great to sit out and enjoy the vista. On my bad visit, I was astonished and annoyed by how slow and chaotic they were. It was almost as if I wasn't in the same bar. If you go and you end up sitting and waiting, move on. There are lots of great bars and eateries down by the sea. But hope for a good day because it's a great place to enjoy some ice cold beers. read more

Freeze on food?? Really? So we ended up her for a nice seaside lunch but after queuing for 10 minutes we were told we could only order drinks but not food and there was a freeze on ordering food. Good Food and a great location make Ohso a favourite place of mine to spend a sunny lunchtime. Its right on the beach and the food is pretty tasty. Its not cheap food by any means but the quality is there. read more

In the summer this is a great place to party as it's open late and it's half outside, half inside. The crowd is ok a bit older than me I guess but the atmosphere made up for it. They need a better sound system though, in the end I found the lack of bass during a drum & bass set actually irritating. read more

I first visited OhSo Social on a Friday during the recent run of good weather we've had. The location of the venue means that when the sun is out they get absolutely hammered, but the service we received was impeccable. It is situated right on the beach and just west of Brighton Pier, which means that the atmosphere is lively and the views from the terrace are beautiful. When we first went down there in mid-afternoon, there weren't any free tables outside. There were still some inside but the girl behind the bar offered to give us drinks in plastic cups so we could enjoy them on the beach while we were waiting for a table to become free. We weren't waiting long before we managed to get a table on the terrace and a waitress came over to take our order. It was difficult deciding what to have as so much of the menu looked very appealing, but in the end I settled on the individual vegetarian platter and my boyfriend had the mussels in a creamy white wine sauce. The food came out quickly despite the fact they were obviously still really busy, and it was really fresh and certainly didn't disappoint. We were having such a nice time soaking up the sun and the atmosphere that we ended up staying for quite a while. A DJ came later in the evening, and we didn't stay for the night although it had started filling up so perhaps another time we will come back and see what the nights are all about. Overall, we had a really nice experience here. The staff were friendly, polite and knowledgeable, and not afriad of a bit of conversation, which I think is sadly not the case for so many places these days.
