This review is long overdue. I apologize! I had a last minute bachelor party I was in charge of. I had the honors of being the best man, with only 1 month to plan a party of 10 guys. I emailed Ohlone Cigar and explained my situation. Jeb replied back with the most welcoming response. He told me to give him a time I wanted to stop by and he would accommodate his shop for my party. Dont forget the Whiskey! The day of, we arrived in a party bus, full from a Brazilian steakhouse lunch in Frisco. Nothing else sounds better than a cigar and glass of Whiskey! Once we arrive, Jeb greets us at the front door. He introduces himself and guides us to the back, where he reserved a nice area for my group. For majority of us, this was our first time. Jeb and his team brought out a bucket of ice and 10 glasses for our Whiskey! They brought us back in groups and really took the time to explain the types and styles of cigars, and what would match best with our bottle of Hibiki. Not only that, the Groom had a cigar on the house! Jeb and his team really made us feel welcome from the start of the email, to us walking out with extra cigars and accessories we purchased. Service was aaah nobody really said do you need help or anything the gentleman that was there was just smoking his cigar minding his own business didn't know he worked there - didn't really show customer service at all - the place was nice and relaxing but service needs some work I my opinion . Ohlone Cigar Lounge has been around this area for 12 years and no wonder. Great atmosphere, really good ventilation and a chill crowd who shared a love and hate relationship for the cluster that is the Oakland Raiders. Buy your cigar and enjoy a leisurely afternoon at the lounge in back that houses lockers, comfortable seating and multiple TV screens. You can bring your own food and drink, they only sell soda and chips. They book parties too, reserve a spot in the lounge. Considering a membership here and hoping that they stock up on Rocky Patels soon. read more

Fantastic service. Great selections. Decent prices, though not great. They understand tastes and earnestly match your tastes with the right cigar. The only reason it loses star is because its lounge is meh. However, there are no other lounges in the area, so if you're in Fremont, go visit. It's next door to a great BBQ restaurant. read more

Always a great time here. Such a chill and laid back environment. Really good selection of Cigars and accessories and the staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable. Lounge section is nice and big and has really comfortable chairs with big TV's for enjoying some sports with your smoke. I love this cigar lounge. I came in with my gf last Friday and received a warm welcome from Jeb. He presented me with what they offered and made sure we were welcome. This place is by no means intimidating with cigar snobs; just a chill and casual atmosphere. They have a nice range of cigars to choose from. To me, I thought it was straight to the point with fine premium cigars and the major brands so there was no issue with 'too many' cigar selections. I smoked Oliva V serie which was medium-full body. You can't ever really go wrong with Olivas. No one bothers you or even gets in your space; just a nice nod from a few fellas and back to the smoke. They have a huge flat screen for sports which is always key. It's also BYOB and sip anyway you want which provides a great experience. I will definitely come back again for another stick! read more

Five stars for the staff. One star for the old liver spotted white man out front who treated me like I was some tweaker just because I'm covered in tattoos ( I assume) I sat down outside to have a cigar that I paid $25 for the day before at this location. I come to this establishment a few times a year today it's my anniversary. Bought a nice cigar the day before figured I'd come back to this place have a smoke and relax on my way to the grocery store. As I go to sit down at the table this old man says to me hey this place is usually reserved for customers. I said I am a customer, he said usually customers buy something I pulled out a $25 cigar and said I did buy something. Then he said some other little things like he owns the place.This is why people don't like this area and usually just stay at home. Yeah I may not be some old rich boomer or somebody who's lived here long enough to be able to afford it but I am young wealthy and raising a family. Once again the staff is great I've also had these old dudes make a little comments to my wife when she came here. Luckily I'm a grown man now and I didn't freak out too bad on the old dude told him to F off and I left. I think everyone sick of old white gatekeepers. My first time visiting here. I am newbie cigar smoker and did all my research prior to my visit. The employee, David, was there to assist me. I read up on a few reviews on certain cigars and this place had them all. David gave me recommendations and his personal favorites to smoke. I purchased a cutter, lighter, 5 single cigars and smoked one in the lounge. David was very knowledgeable and gave me good advice on how to properly prep a cigar. The lounge was perfectly set up following COVID-19 guidelines: chairs 6-feet spread apart, seats are sprayed/wiped down after one leaves, hand sanitizer bottles available. Good air ventilation for the smoke too. There is wifi available to connect to. There's also chairs outside the front of their store if you prefer. Ashtrays are everywhere, even in the bathroom. I definitely had a great first time experience and will be back with some friends during televised games. read more

I've been going here for years and I will continue to come even though there are closer cigar places in San Jose. They always carry a great selection of premium cigars at great prices. They even allow you to bring you own drinks which is a huge plus. They have 3-4 big screen TVs so it's a great place to catch games or fights. Only downfall is that they changed their hours and now close 1 hour earlier (11pm) on Friday an Saturday! read more

I went in and announced "I am a beginner". Jeb welcomed me and said "PERFECT!" and started asking me questions about my experiences and what I wanted out of my cigars. Just found my new, local cigar shop to fill up my empty humidor! I visited based on my neighbors recommendation and glad I did. The first thing that jumped out at me was how welcoming and nice everyone was as I was walking into the shop. The selection in this place is pretty amazing! 2 large walls of cigars to choose from. I'm into Arturo Fuente's and asked Jeb for some recommendations on similar cigars. He offered a couple of brands and his suggestions were spot on! He definitely knows his tabacco and which ones fit the taste and flavor profile I was looking for. It's getting really hard to find a good place to light one up. Ohlone is one of those few places. This place has THE BEST ventilation of all of the cigar lounges in the Bay Area. It also helps that they have high ceilings, and the back smoking lounge is quite big and airy. That being said, it does lack a little atmosphere because of its large size, but hey...sometimes you want to go home and not have your car smell like you just fell into a smokestack. I came here after our dinner at Smoking Pig. This place itself is very clean and has this classy/timeless atmosphere as the patrons enjoying their cigars with their old friends while drinking whiskey or cognac over the rocks. They don't serve alcohol here, but you can bring your own bottle here! The workers are prompt and professional. They suggested me to try out their Cuban cigar. He chopped the end and lit it up for me. I went down to the lounge room to watch the Giants game. Inhale the smoke and it didn't feel really harsh like cigarettes do. One word..... "Man Cave" Okay, granted that is two words, but I do feel it is like my man cave which my current residence, a Condo, does not have. And, well, it is also a "woman cave" as there are many ladies who enjoy their cigars at the lounge as well. As a matter of fact the Lounge has a special "Lady's Night" event every month (sorry guys). You can come here and relax in one of the comfy chairs and read a book, work on your laptop and enjoy your cigar. Or, you can sit at the table with a bunch of the other regulars and get to know them! You would be amazed by the diversity of people and their occupations and backgrounds! I would challenge you to find any social club or hang out where you can easily get to know, on a personal basis, such great and diverse group of people. If you have never tried a cigar, or just some of those gas-station variety, do yourself a favor and come on over and let one of the Ohlone staff know you are a newbie. They are always very happy to welcome new comers and give you an education on the different variety and qualities of cigars. And speaking of variety, yes they have the largest in-house selection of cigars I have ever seen! Albeit, I have not had the opportunity to visit Castro's personal collection in Cuba.... Exactly two years after my first review I am still very happy to give Ohlone Cigar a five star rating. The prices for cigars and drinks are more than fair and the lounge is always kept immaculate. The guys that work at Ohlone are all cigar smokers and pretty knowledgeable about their merchandise. My wife and I stop by here about once a month generally after dinner and enjoy a great cigar and catch the game of the night on one of the screens. They were a bunch of working guys, thought it was smart to open a cigar lounge for people who enjoy cigars and a drink on Fri/Sat, without having to go to San Jose or San Francisco! Excellent IDEA! Went here today to see if they had a certain cigar and I was absolutely blown away by their selection. Extensive selection of Caldwell, Crowned Head, and Warped cigars. I was so indecisive so the worker asked me a few questions and gave me a recommendation. I ended walking away for 2 Le Careme, a pack of cracker crumbs, and by his recommendation, Umbago. Their 10% yelp deal is the cherry on top. Price is pretty comparable to online prices... just a few buck more, but you pay for experience and this was a great experience. After driving right past this place so many times I thought it was about time I stopped by to see what it's all about. My husband and son love a good cigar and there aren't many options in Fremont. Don't let the location fool you , this is the only place to get your cigar or pipe desires. It's typical to walk up with a group of "local regulars" chillin' outside on their patio leaned back, chatting it up, puffing away on their cigars or pipe welcoming you to Ohlone Cigar Lounge. As soon as you open the door you smell all the mouth watering oaky-whiskey-bourbon-vanilla cigar aromatherapy without the smoke because of their amazing filtration system that filters out the smoke. Jeb is the manager and he is very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Actually everyone who works there always puts their best foot forward in making sure you have a great experience. They are also military friendly and send cigars to troops overseas. With 2 sons in the service this really warms my heart. Kudos to them. You are allowed to BYOB as long as you are enjoying one of their cigars or pipe tobacco with it, cool! What have I bought? Well I've purchased cigars which are always fresh because they purchase in small batches to ensure the quality. I also purchased my husband's first pipe which is really sexy looking. They have a lot of bowl & stem styles to choose from but all good quality. Oh and did I mention they keep a record of your selections to make it easier for you to recall your favorites. What if any could be different? The only recommendation I have for them (and I may get some manly grumbles) is that they could add some female flare to the place. Not to the point of taking away the "man cave vibe", but just some way to cater to the lady cigar smokers as well. From a marketing perspective it certainly couldn't hurt to have a knowledgeable female behind the counter either. 1+1=2 right....the patrons are 90% male , so helllooooo having a female connoisseur couldn't hurt. ;) Just sayin. I'm originally from California, but relocated to GA. I'm in Cali at least once a month for business and usually stop by Ohlone for a quick smoke. Definitely a place where everyone knows each other, and if you're known you're welcome. Stopped by to watch game 6 of the NBA championship, and was rudely commented to about finding a seat as if I didn't belong there. I'd like to say it was racist, but I'm a black male and the male that made the comment is a black male that works there I think. It took everything in me not to respond, and I went outside in the front of the lounge to watch the game. A couple guys were friendly, but if you're an outsider, it may feel a little cold. Good selection of cigars, and if you catch the right guys working the counter, they can be very helpful. Unfortunately, I'll have to find another place to unwind and enjoy a good cigar, but it won't be Ohlone! read more

Its definitely a progressive step to put in a cigar lounge in Fremont. The overall feel of the place is nice. The staff is nice and they have a decent cigar selection. If you become a member (not sure of the monthly member fee but I think its somewhere around $50-$75) you will receive your own storage locker where you can keep liquor (scotch/Whiskey) to along with your cigars. The smoking room has big screen TVs, a few lounge chairs, and tables where you can gather to talk or play poker. My only qualm with Ohlone Cigar lounge is its pretty small. If the chairs are full, you're out of luck. One bonus about the location is that its right next to a popular Indian restaurant that is open late and a Hooters is on the other side of the parking lot. read more

Even though I am not an avid cigar smoker, I found this lounge very knowledgeable, comfortable, and relaxing. As soon as you walk you you are greeted with the smell of quality cigar in the air. The staff is friendly and greet you openly. They offer a plethora of cigars. Spicy, bold, sweet, or mild, they have plenty to choose from. When I came in they were setting up for a special guest, Rocky Patel, a premier icon in the cigar industry. John took the time to explain the differences in cigars, styles, shapes, and flavors. Even though they were busy getting ready. Thank you for the help. The actual lounge offers great leather seats & a large screen T.V. with the game on.
