When my company moved me to Virginia Beach in 2002, I knew no one except my employer. I visited other congregations in the area, and although each has much to offer, the Jewish friends I was gradually making mostly belonged to OST. When I went to services, I felt at home and joined the congregation. When I attended my first Shabbaton (women's retreat) I made several new friends. From then on, I always saw at least one or two people I knew when I went to services; now many are my closest friends- more like family. There are so many opportunities to be of service to the community, classes and other activities for anyone interested in participating. Now that I'm retired, I've assumed more responsibilities at OST and have found this congregation "walks the talk" in being supportive to members and welcoming to all. Our Rabbi Roz is thoughtful, helpful, spiritual and makes herself available and warmly responsive to everyone. That's saying a lot for a congregation of nearly 800 'families'. I suggest that if you're interested, check out our website and come for a visit! read more
