Great encouragement that Jesus is greater than our doubt. While it is a large congregation, people seem very nice. People and families of all ages are present, so it seems that there would be ministry opportunities for just about anyone!

Love, love, love this place. The pastor (Pastor Heath Burris) is on point with his expository…read morepreaching/teaching. Doesn't preach on eschatology, but he has a sincere, but direct approach to teaching, which I need. I like hearing the truth point blank, no beating around the bush and he has a way of telling you like it is but smiling at you the whole time with open arms. And he's super funny how he integrates his family into the stories. The children's program is huge and very organized with people who really want to be there. Love how they make it fun at all ages. They do really cool activities with the middle and high schoolers, too! Like nerf gun fights , ice cream socials and slip and slides and paint wars. They have a lot of people around for support and to ask questions about where to go for what grade/age. I really like how they implement safety in every aspect of the church from the parking lot to access for disabled folks. So many bible classes to chose from which was refreshing since we can't all fit in a square box. I felt so welcomed there since day one and haven't regretted coming back. Coffee is good too! That's important!! The bathrooms are clean and they had a renovation which added on a new and expanded sanctuary giving the middle and high school students a lace of their own to have worship service. Didn't know they were Baptist (usually stated in the name), but I've come to embrace the big church, small hometown feel. I really like how leadership makes themselves available to you and just because they are a larger church, doesn't mean they are unapproachable or unreachable. That really made a difference for me.

We've made so many friends, some still here, some have moved because of their military careers, but even the ones that have left we still keep in touch with. We are a small church with BIG plans, BIG ideas, focused on community, outreach & connection. Our connect groups are really where we grow the most. They run about every 8wks, with a shorter summer session. Leader's, as well as the studies, change each session. Some groups are for All, some for Women only or Men only, or specifically for the youth. Because of Covid, like so many others, we became very good at Zoom and are continuing to offer some Connect Groups via Zoom. CHR is very active in the community and has an outreach group in a Chesapeake neighborhood where we volunteer each week. We help with homework, play games, have a summer camp and Thanksgiving & Christmas we always do something special for the families. It has been a dedicated 7 yrs of working within this community with an on going commitment that will continue until. If you're looking for an authentic, bible teaching place to grow in your faith, then give CHR a try. It's a friendly place with a welcoming atmosphere. We've got some great pastors, each of them with their own unique way of sharing God's Word. I'm always amazed at how God speaks to you through others and that is exactly the kind of thing that happens in this church!
