Exactly perfect for what we were looking for. First and foremost on the list for our search, was…read morewe hoped to find a place that had televised sports (both Monday Night Football and the World Series were on--but remember, this is Hawaii--way-out in the Pacific, so live-games come on in the afternoon or even earlier). Multiple screens make it so there is not a bad seat in the house. We also hoped to find a place with more of a "neighborhood/locals" energy to chill and relax our tired dogs (feet) in...and also, if it wasn't asking too much, hoped that it would have a fun vibe. (*Check those criteria off). "Icing on the cake", for us would be if the location had decent food. (Check that one off and put an exclamation point behind it--as the nachos we had were, "Fire".) As fate would have it, a lucky break was to be had as we walked in to the very-full bar. There, before us, were two stools at the bar (*the last remaining spots in the place) and they happened to be open. Side note: The bar has a speak-easy attached to it, and one day, we are gonna try it. Going there has been mentioned a few times when we have chatted with locals and tourists regarding memorable and unique things to do. Our servers were pleasant and accommodating despite the fact that the place was "choke widd plenty-kine cust-a'mah" (local pidgin for, full of customers). It's a hard balancing act to make patrons feel welcomed, but also not leave other thirsty tables waiting for too long. The two pretty blondes working that afternoon did a fantastic job at this. My seasonal sour beer hit all the right notes, and my wife seemed to enjoy her less exotic tap beer (Blue moon with an orange slice--served ice cold). There is a ton of beers to choose from here. Lighting in the Kailua Tavern is kinda darkish (not a problem, as I like me a dark bar sometimes). The locals were very-welcoming. One guy offered his table to us when he noticed our food had arrived and our plates were a bit pinned in. Also, anyone who happened to be sitting near us immediately engaged in friendly banter about the games. One guy of Tongan decent, who was probably 6'5" and had muscles piled-on to his massive frame came over and leaned in very close to ask, "Hey DEN, Bradah, YOU MIND FOR IF I GO DANCE WICH YOU DATE?" (*That didn't happen, I thought channeling a classic moment from the bar-scene in, Animal House, would be funny...but like the Toronto Blue Jays in the late innings of last night's game, "Swing and a miss". ) The Kailua Town Tavern was the opposite of a swing and a miss for us. It was fun and a good place to "chill"; the vibe was what we had hoped for; and of special note were the steak strips on the nachos, as they were superb.

It was just the 2 of us but they had a room available upstairs and it was pretty spacious you could fit at least 6 people comfortably. Drinks were great and they have food/apps but I was too full from dinner. My friend had the jalapeño poppers he enjoyed it. Got to meet the owners and staff were wonderful and friendly! But the selection of songs and sound!! Just awesome!! Thank you Hawaii Voice!! I had such a great time!! I'll be back!!

A gem hidden in plain sight…read more My friends and I spontaneously wanted to sing karaoke on a Saturday night. I obviously didn't plan this lol So we called a few places and I remembered seeing Hawaii Voice on the news and I was always inteigued about the experience of this place. We called and they could accommodate us right away. We headed there and they had the beautiful room all ready to go. The room was huge and clean! Decorations were colorful and bright. The couches were very comfortable and clean. The TVs were HUGE! They were the biggest screens I've ever had for karaoke. The system has plenty of features, and for some, it may be "too much". They offer they're own karaoke catalog system, an older karaoke system (no videos, just lyrics), and YouTube was also integrated. One of the karaoke systems was cool cause you could see the music videos and can sing along. The only thing we noticed for some songs, the synchronization of music and lyrics were off so just make sure you know the song, otherwise, you're gonna be a beat behind. Also, the YouTube system didn't allow ANY song to be sung. The system didn't support some well-known karaoke channels because of the video formats. Lastly, the choice of Japanese songs was bare, but that's not really a problem if you don't sing Japanese songs. They have drinks and food, but we only ordered drinks because we already ate...and we like alcohol. They had a fairly good selection for hards and beers. Sorry, I cannot give an opinion on food. Staff is awesome. We met the owner and he treated us so well. To squeeze us in on a Saturday was a treat, and also a lesson to us on better planning (well, my friends, not me because this wouldn't have happened lol). If you wanna sing karaoke with friends and let out some energy, give this place a try! It's beautiful and will make any karaoke experience fun!

The sound system was great. The music ambience lighting was clean and modern. The song selection was a little sparse but still more than enough songs to last us for the four hours we were there. I would definitely recommend this as a go to karaoke room, especially if you don't want to have to worry about planning and bringing in your own food and drinks. They were quite reasonable. Party of roughly 10 grown adults with food and some alcohol was less than $1000 for four hours.

We looked at so many places, "ising" being one of them and decided to just yolo and check it out. Right when we came in, the ambiance was nice! The workers were super welcoming. We forgot to get his name, but the male worker greeted us and got us into a room right away. He was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, checked up on us frequently and got us an ube cocktail for the birthday girl! We had so much fun and would highly recommend this place. We were too full to eat, but next time we come back we will definitely try their snacks.
