We do not teach mma or bjj. Our Cardio-Kickboxing program focuses on burning calories, reducing fat, and building muscle. We train with resistance and in fighting rounds. The kids had a great time and it was so impressive to see most of the kids who had never even been to a Tae Kwon Do class completing all the movements and exercise. The instructors/hosts, Mitchell and Chandler were extremely professional and related very well to all of the kids. They kept them engaged and entertained the entire time. The kids were exhausted but clearly had a fantastic day. I was also impressed with the over all discipline, respect and good manners that Tae Kwon Do teaches. I would highly recommend Master Shims for anyone looking for a healthy outlet for their children.

I ended up teaching at a local gym as a Blue Belt (mostly no-gi with basic gi) and later got my purple belt from Glenn Hamby, who was a brown belt under Marcio Feitosa at the time. After a few years I had to give up teaching to pursue a career. I have since moved to Fayetteville, GA and was referred to Gracie Balance in Sharpsburg. There are a few schools closer to where I live. I have nothing bad to say about them, since I haven't trained with them, however, since the first day I trained with Jorge (3rd degree under Pedro Sauer) I never regret driving past them to train with Jorge and the rest of the BJJ family there! Keep in mind I have shopped plenty before I moved here, so I'm familiar with how other schools are run (Franco De Camargo--LA, Kron Gracie--LA, Renato Luca--Carazinho, R.S. [Brazil], Hamby Freestyle Jiu Jitsu--Albany, GA, etc.) In short, it's a great, quality school with quality instruction, and a great family to roll with. NEWCOMERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!! The event was nice with very good instruction by the coaches that came in from California to support the owner. They had catering by Amici with plenty of pizza, cookies & even cannolis to welcome everyone. The location was pretty small inside with barely enough room for everyone and we had a hard time locating it. There is free parking behind the building in a lot surrounded by the apartments.
