My experience with Oxley-Heard Funeral Home was, unfortunately, not a positive one. This was not a…read morefuneral home I chose personally--it was simply the only business card the sheriff's department offered me the day my fiancé passed away suddenly at my home. I was in shock, devastated, and unable to think clearly, so I went with their suggestion. On Saturday, I was contacted by funeral director Amy Lee for next of kin information. By Monday, she called again, requesting more details and asking to meet with me as soon as possible. I assumed this was to discuss the death certificate or final arrangements. Instead, the meeting was cold and impersonal. There was no expression of sympathy or compassion--only a clear focus on who would be paying for the cremation. I was told the next of kin had informed her of a life insurance policy, and the only reason for the meeting was to have me sign the contract. After that, I was no longer contacted. All communication went through the next of kin--his daughter, who was out of state. I was left feeling unwelcome, unacknowledged, and deeply disappointed. For a business that has been around as long as Oxley-Heard, I expected a level of compassion and professionalism, especially from someone in such a sensitive role. Empathy should be at the heart of funeral services. Sadly, that was completely lacking in my experience. I hope this helps others who may find themselves in a similarly vulnerable position. If possible, take time to consider your options and have someone with you to help make decisions. No one should have to feel dismissed or disrespected while grieving.

As we traveled north to Jesup, GA, from Saint Augustine, Florida, the snow and ice were still on the roadway. Our hearts and emotions were raging from the midnight call that no one wanted to receive. Just hours before, we had been very proactive in getting my father-in-law to the doctor and making sure that he was followed up every day by his physician the week before. But on Monday, they sent him straight to the ER without even entering the doctor's office where he was admitted. He was stabilized and looking good for a Korean Veteran and Ninety-one years young. He was resting, and the family felt he was in good shape. However, he passed shortly thereafter and left the family in a spin of emotion like so many others who deal with a family member's death. I'm writing this to tell you Rinehart and Sons is one place that takes care of every detail. and makes you feel like you are family during such an emotional and difficult time. Linda, Leslie, and the team handled every detail, and they went to extraordinary measures to make the process seamless without any concerns. As a retired Marine and one who has been involved in scores of funeral arrangements from presidents to family, Rinehart & Sons is the best place for your loved one. When a loved one passes on, the loss is painful enough, much less having to plan a funeral. Rhinehart & Sons has truly caring people who have mastered a stress-free process for the burial. We want to thank the entire team and family of Rinehart & Sons. Respectfully, Rick Givens GySgt USMC (Ret)

My mother recently passed and DFH handled the funeral arrangement exceedingly well--from 5 years ago discussing/planning her Pre-Need to executing it from the time they took possession of her body to the interment. Their efficiency gave me comfort that allowed me to properly grieve my mother instead of worrying about the details. From the obituary coordination to the releasing of the Doves, to the interment of her body, they arranged it all with professionalism and in accordance to what my mom wanted as she outlined in her pre-need. The Director(s) and the staff were genuinely nice, concerned, and took care of all our concerns and needs. I applaud DFH for a job well done with my mom's funeral arrangement! Thank you!

They are the quintessential professionals with the warmest of hearts and most patience and kindness that I have come across in any business in many years. They made a monumentally difficult funeral with intricate details and multiple sets of diverging hands seamless and simple and made it easy for all parties involved. They think of everything and provide you with everything you need from obituaries to thank you cards - all of the millions of little details are done and picked up by them for a cost that will surprise you. I walked in with a dollar amount I could go up to and walked out not even coming close to that mark. When a time like this makes everything seem impossible the only place you should look to is Dorchester to handle everything so you can focus on you and your family.
