Do Not Trust Regency Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia…read more If you are looking for a hospice provider that truly cares for their patients and families, do not choose Regency Hospice in Statesboro. My mother trusted them for end-of-life care, and they failed her--miserably. From the beginning, my family and I asked what medications would be available to keep my mother comfortable. We were told repeatedly that morphine was the only option. Only when we called their emergency line late on a Friday night did someone casually mention Ativan--as if it were common knowledge. But when I went to pick up the prescription, I was told my mother "already had" Xanax, as if that were an equivalent medication. It is not. After arguing with the overnight nurse, she insisted on coming to verify my mother's condition before allowing me to pick up the medication. So instead of being by my mother's side, I had to make another trip to the pharmacy--because they refused to be proactive or prepared. When my mother's mouth became painfully dry, I reached out again for help. The response? I was told they could bring supplies the next day, or I could just go to Walmart myself. That's the level of care and urgency they provided while my mother was actively dying. And the worst part? The complete abandonment. Nobody checked in throughout the day. Nobody called. Nobody cared. My mother passed away that night at 9:49 p.m., and the only reason we saw the nurse was because she legally had to confirm the death. Since then--silence. No call. No card. No grief counseling. Nothing. Other hospice providers ensure families receive emergency comfort kits and detailed guidance on what to expect as their loved one declines. We received nothing. We were left completely in the dark, forced to ask questions that should have already been answered, while the lead nurse repeatedly failed to provide even basic information. The chaplain who was supposed to visit never showed up. No explanations. No apologies. Regency Hospice in Statesboro doesn't care about patients. They don't care about families. They care about money--and nothing else. If you want your loved one to experience dignity and true compassion in their final days, go anywhere else.
