TL;DR: Under-resourced and unsafe. I took my two…read morepreschool-aged kids here for a trial class with the intention of signing them up for weekly classes. My initial impression of the gym was that the space seemed small compared to the amount of equipment in it. There also appeared to be many kids and few adults. 10 minutes into class, I took my 3 year old to the bathroom. I came back to find my 5 year old bleeding from a head wound with the teachers holding tissues to her head. She was struck in the forehead with a trapeze bar and needed stitches. I was completely dumbfounded as to how this could have happened with two adults supposedly teaching the class. Clearly, if there was ANY danger of someone getting hit by a swinging bar, there should have been an adult present to ensure the kids waiting their turn were a safe distance away. Obviously, at the time, I was focused on getting my daughter out the door and to a doctor, but I was never offered any type of bandage, ice, gauze, or medical assistance. My husband went to Flippers the next day to express his concern about the situation. He asked where the first aid kit was and was never shown it. He also spoke with the owner on the phone, asking what type of changes might be implemented to prevent this type of thing from happening again. The owner apologized for what happened and offered additional free classes but was wishy washy on what, if any change, would be made. At one point, she chalked it up to a "freak accident" and essentially blamed my daughter because "she wasn't used to the routine."

The bathroom is in the far back of the facility and those in wheelchairs can only access the front. I can't say enough good things about this place and the swim instructors. My daughter had no idea…read morehow to swim, but after taking 2 weeks of lessons last year and 2 weeks of lessons this year, she's doing amazing! Usually each session consists of 4 students and 4 instructors. I love how each student gets their own instructor! The pool is plenty big for the 4 separate swim lessons to take place. They have shaded areas for the parents to sit and watch their students. They also have a bathroom incase the student needs to go during the lesson. Lessons are 20 minutes a day for 5 days. It's best to book 2 weeks of lessons, but spread them out. You also need to be quick about registering because lessons sell out fast! I suggest following them on Facebook and signing up for emails through their website. If you don't get lessons, sometimes people sell theirs on the Hunsaker Swimming Facebook page. I'll definitely be signing my daughter up again next year!
