There are kid friendly height chairs and tables for the young ones to feel like adults. Books are easily within reach for every young age and the librarians are so helpful. The kids can practice checking out books at a kiosk in the children's section that is lower in height. There are online options for reserving books and looking at the selection available at Champaign and Urbana library. It's so easy to find a book you want and have it reserved for pick up .The library is open 7 days a week which gives ultimate flexibility.

Grainger is filled with thousands of science and engineering volumes, which are available to all UIUC students. The library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and library staff are always available to help locate books. Grainger is populated with students, primarily engineers, at all hours of the day. The library provides a quiet, comfortable place to study. When final exams are approaching, there isn't an empty chair to be found in the whole library.

It's usually very quiet and relaxing, with huge windows and plenty of room. The Espresso Royale in the basement tunnel is nice for a caffeine fix if you're on a studying bender. The Public Library in Covington is an original Carnegie Library. The staff had retained immaculate…read morerecords of the history of the library that I was allowed to review. The Covington Women's Club prepared the grant request and Andrew Carnegie provided $10,000 for construction. Construction began in 1913 and was completed in 1914. The Neoclassical building was designed by Liese & Ludwig, Danville, Illinois. The library is on the National Register of Historic Places. During WWII, the assembly room was used by the American Red Cross as a sewing room and during the Great Depression, the W.P.A. Used the basement as a sewing room. (They kept amazing notes, probably the best details I've see of any Carnegie Library.) The exterior is a dark brick with clay tile roof. Inside, beautiful original oak trim and furnishings exist throughout. Several paintings by local artists hang including a mural by Eugene Savage. The building had been expanded to provide accessibility with an elevator and accessible entrance. The expansion also provided additional space to increase the holdings. A children's area downstairs held books and a small play area. Upstairs were adult books, dvds, and a bay of computers for public use. There were five staff members working during our visit. There is free parking. This is a beautiful little library.

I'm impressed with the design of the library addition, both beautiful design and interior functionality. The librarians are knowledgeable and always willing to help locate an item or look up a requested rarity. The genealogy section is vast and the kid's area is clean and bright. I've found a great variety of new authors and discovered a few paperbacks that saved my summer. Also, they have a computer station that I was able to use for 2 wks when I finished school and turned off my internet while moving. Overall, if you don't own a library card then you don't know what you are missing for free :)

It's been cloudy the last two days and the solar panels on my RV haven't been able to charge the battery. So I stopped in here to recharge my laptops and phone and took advantage of the opportunity to surf while taking some electricity with me. There are a number of desks for study but none of them seemed to have power nearby. Fortunately, there are four bar stools set up at a counter in the stairwell and I was able to camp out there for a bit. The library is on two floors and has sections for children, young adults, fiction, reference and other media. It's mostly quiet, other than the occasional cart clatter as it moves books. This is a solid library staffed by a knowledgeable librarian. The selection surprised me; I saw a…read morefew books here that I have had to wait for at home (the city I live in has a much larger system). The building itself is beautiful, with vintage oak floors and plenty of natural light, and it hosts the Piper City Historical Museum on the second floor. If you happen to be lucky and Glenn is hanging around, he'll give you a tour! Just an enjoyable place to be.
