It's difficult to find things about Offshore that I don't like. I've been a fan since a friend and I took shelter from one of Glasgow's more blustery days.
The staff are always welcoming- I've never been greeted by an unfriendly face, nor have I entered to find cluttered tables. In fact, I very much appreciate the space available. It's light, bright and I've never been unable to find a table. There are far too many cafes in the west end crammed into small units big enough only for two or three tables. I can imagine that Offshore might get a little chilly in the winter due to its size, but it's nice to be able to generally always find a seat as opposed to having to wander about in the rain trying to find somewhere else for a quick catch up over coffee with a friend.
The wide range of hot and cold drinks is brilliant- something to suit every mood, and I really rate their flavoured soy lattes. My friend adores their chocolate milk (I have yet to try it, but it looks awesome!), however I wish they'd advertise the flavours of tea they stock. I always feel that I look like a bit of a lunatic when I squint at the boxes of tea bags they have on the counter, subtly trying to read the labels.
The food's yummy too. Lots to choose from and all home-made, making a nice change from the usual caramel shortbread and malteser cakes that the majority of the west end's cafes seem to acquire from the same stockist. The only thing I would say against the food is that it doesn't look all that attractive wrapped up in clingfilm and plastic bags in the fridge.
Overall, Offshore has a nice, relaxed atmosphere (great for a sneaky revision session pre-exam or a quick catch up with a friend) and the prices are reasonable. read more
