So my husband took it into the store and made them write into the work order that nothing was to be erased, and he should be called before repair was attempted. These instructions were ignored. The repair shop erased all my son's work and sent back a blank machine that still wouldn't charge. We spent $800 trying to retrieve the data, but it was lost. When we asked them to give a refund on the machine, because we never wanted to set foot in their store again, or at least pay for the attempted data recovery, but no. Instead they sent my son a cheap Officeworks gift voucher. You can't pay me to enter your store again. Both Asus and Officeworks are rubbish.

We were assisted by a…read morestaff member named AMEYA, who was unfortunately quite rude when requesting a valid ID for collection. When I asked if my student ID would work, she raised her voice instead of explaining the policy, though I later showed my passport as required. We also inquired about the availability of the Google Pixel Pro XL, which was listed as in stock online. Ameya immediately told us it was unavailable. She took at-most 5 secs to say NO. However, another staff member was able to find the phone for us within minutes. When we asked for a price beat using a Kogan listing, the other staff member consulted Ameya, who again declined loudly, without verifying if the Kogan phone was a direct import or not. When we pointed out this inconsistency about this phone's availability, she changed the subject. Overall, our experience with AMEYA was disappointing and unprofessional, especially compared to the helping nature of other staff members at this store. We did not purchase the Google Pixel Pro XL yesterday and will only consider returning if we can be assisted by someone else. Thanks.

At times, I've seen staffs chatting among themselves instead of attending to people waiting for service. This lack of customer focus might explain why there are fewer customers here compared to places like JB Hi- Fi or the Apple Store, where customer services is much more engaging and professional.

Let's not forget about the regularly occuring need to stock up on sharpies, USBs, notebooks, journals and staplers. I have a self imposed ban upon entering Officeworks unless I absolutely need to. If I do go there, I need to have a guardian with me who will hold my purse. I am a stationary fiend. I can justify any purchase. Not surrendering to Officeworks is sometimes the biggest challenge of my day. When they designed Officeworks, they had me in mind. They said "lets build a colossal multi-level store devoted to stationary and home office needs. The office workers, the creatives, the students, the parents will come in DROVES. Just watch them." It's a brilliant idea. Who doesn't need pens? Even farmers need pens. Astronauts, too. You can get EVERYTHING you need from Officeworks- well, all the basics at least. Forget fancy artist pen sets, go for the Faber Castell set of 24 connector pens. That'll do the trick. Printers, computers, iphones, ipods, phones, external hard drives and all associated accessories can be found here. The staff are extremely friendly and really do like to show off their knowledge of the home office machines. "Oh, your Mac won't recognise your external hard drive? Well that's because X doesn't...". Yes, you will have those conversations and you'll love it because you'll walk out with the right bits and bobs you need. Let's not forget they have photo printing facilities as well as on demand copying services. Ohh! The joy. The SHEER JOY of being handed warm paper just off the press is sometimes too much for me to handle. Bonus points for the selection of chocolate bars they sell at the counter. Shopping does make you hungry.
