I have been coming to this OfficeMax store for a few years now. I like the convenient location and parking available. At first the copy/fax machines seemed very confusing but with time I had learned how to operated them by myself. The staff members usually seemed annoyed when you ask for help but it seems like there aren't enough members working during most of the shifts. If you are using the copy/fax machines you need a credit card and send the document to your email address, you will then receive an email confirmation with a code to access to your document and then you will be able to print. Ps: Ask for help is you don't know to operate the machines. They will eventually assist you ;) The store always has savings on paper and office items. read more

While this Office Depot or max they merged it is very dated inside with a lot of empty shelves.I didn't want to take photos inside the building but if you walk in you would understand. Wasn't greeted as I walked in or roamed around barely any shoppers as was more workers than anything. Saw mini clearance isle and only thing that caught my eye was the fisher pen. And then they didn't find the item physically so the order has been ordered by them I went to the store and take the same ref of calculator but in another color and the price was 17 dollars for all colors . I asked the manager to match the price of my order of the morning he stayed stuck on the sku of the item he didn't want to match the price . Now I am going online and see that you have 5 dollars back on pick up order . The " manager " isn't aware and dint realize was the difference on my order and the purchase . Literally the worst customer service I've experienced in a while. Went to the printing department to get assistance in printing blueprints. The attendant was very short and impatient. Not to mention she was on a personal call on her Bluetooth ear buds the entire time I was waiting for assistance. Her name is Lucy and she has a money bag tattoo on the left of her neck. Make sure you ask for another worker if you go and to absolutely not waste time waiting for her assistance. She ignored me and continued with another customer while I just stood there. Perhaps she should get off her personal phone calls while on the clock and focus on customers who come in. I left and will be calling the manager. read more

The staff seemed very confused. I placed an order online and received an email letting me know it was ready for pickup. When I arrived and showed my email with a picture and description of the item it took 15 minutes to find it. Mind you, I placed the order the day before. I understand there is a lot of stock but you expect orders for pickup to be staged somewhere. Also worth mentioning- I got stuck in a lot of traffic on the way to as this is on the way to the beach and had to use the restroom which was absolutely filthy. This store seems abandoned. Only certain items are refreshed regularly. If I didn't need to come here I wouldn't. Printing machines are not always working. The worst part is the staff. They just don't care. Cashier texting, manager fidgeting with some papers, but too busy to help ring up long line of customers. They don't seem to keep the same staff members for a long time. The stationary manager Donnet is awfully good at her job and wonderfully helpful. In fact they should spin off the stationary folks from the rest of the store because something happened recently. Let me begin with way understaffed and the one of two working the floor at rush hour not knowing where anything was. One of the two is a regular and very nice and and his product knowledge is good, but the manager is totally incompetent and it is the fault of Richard the store's general manager. Today I had a distasteful incident that should NEVER have happened in a chain operation as big as this. I come in from time to time and buy "banker's boxes" to dead store my files. Today was special, first Mr. I Don't Know or Care led me to the wrong place (the store has moved it's stock), then, Mr. I Do Care and Know showed my the box department I wanted. We spied a supply of thirty odd boxes with a misleading price attached to the shelf. It read $18.00 for 10, Huh, 10, really, I wondered if I was supposed to carry 10 loose boxes out of the store and if the would all be rung up separately. I inquired of Mr. Helpful who said, "I really don't know, but I assume they will charge you per box as they are un-packaged." (or words to that effect) Well, that would be 10 divided into $18.00, $1.80 each right? Wrong! I arrived at the register and Mr. I Don't Know, couldn't figure it out. I asked for the manager. He is one of the least equipped guys to be running a store of this size that I have ever encountered and gave me a long, silly story about it being the customer's fault that so many single boxes are displayed. He said, "They come in and cut the strapping that holds them together as a 10 Pack." Funny guy, can you get the image of poor Mrs. Snoops coming in with plastic strap cutters so she can (maybe) fool the scanner. Oh sure Mac. I was disgusted and returned to the box shelf and picked up a properly packaged 4 Pack of a different brand. On my way back to the register I noticed that the store had a separate display of these items; I counted 74 loose boxes, un-packaged yet promenantly displayed as single boxes. Weirdness abounds in this excuse for a stationary-computer-box store. I called for Mr. Illeqipedtorunasunglassesstallinamall manager. He came out of his hole again and refused to look at the separate display of single boxes. I then took my phone out to photograph the evidence and he informed me that it was illegal to photograph the store for Yelp reviews. Ha ha ha! If Richard, the General Manager wanted to avoid cranky reviewers like me uncovering his little lets misleadthepublic scams, increase good will for his store, and solve what must be a problem created by the store itself then he could display the misleading boxes right up front, cut the price, and move his merchandise or has merchandising changed so much??? Okay so I never do this. I believe everyone should have the benefit of the doubt. But this place is on another level. I've worked in customer service before and I know how it is when sketchy people come into the store. I even worked at a Office Depot. When I tell you this place is not it I mean it. From the moment I walked in for some reason the manager started to follow me around as it I was stealing. I paid no mind to it, since it's his job to look after the store. I even thought "oh okay it might be cuz I'm wearing a hat" so I took it off. But no, he proceeded to follow me thru the store and when it was time to check out he attended me. At first I though "it's cool. whatever they are just being careful " but he proceeded to not only search all the items I picked out but also leaned over to look into my bag. I has been costumer of this store for many years, and I noticed that for the last year or two the service is getting worse. Staff is not professional, they don't know the store items or where to find them. Often misled me( I called asked about computer I wanted to buy, they told me it's here, when I came" sorry, we don't have it", same with monitor, couldn't find it. I bought here an office chair, paid 12 dollars for assembly, was promised they will call me tomorrow to pick it up, 3 days later I stopped by( no one called), they said , the chair it's not ready yet, they forgot. Sorry again. Few years ago in this store you can find easily someone to assist you, now days you have to hunt for assistance, they are hiding from you. I guess they need new managers or so. I went into the office max in Hallandale a few days ago to make a purchase. The item I was buying was on sale but they are also one of the participating retailers on ebates. That was the main reason I went in their because I could have gotten the same item I purchased anywhere for maybe the same as the same price as what they had it for on sale. Anyway I wasn't to sure on how the ebates thing worked so I asked an associate and he said they have nothing to do with ebates though he could clearly see when I showed him that they were a participating retailer. I will say this Office Max has been very convenient and complimentary . The staff is all very nice , however the store seems to be under staffed , but the employees are very accommodating which makes up for the lack of quick service . There are many pros and cons to this store in the Hallendale location but I overall rate it "good" and recommend this business. read more

I had a terrible experience with an item that I purchased in this store. I never bother to rate items that I either buy online or in store. But this is a situation that has really upset me. I went to Office Max located in Hallandale Beach, FL. and I purchased a cabinet Dakota Oak to place books. Right after I made the purchased, one of the sales associates advised me that I was better off having someone from their store assemble it for me since they would not make themselves responsible if I was unable to do it on my own and if something breaks in the process and the fact that the material of the specific item that I was purchasing was fragile. In addition, they advised that they did not have the item requested in the store, so it would take between one to two weeks for me to get it. So I got worried and I asked for an estimate, once they came back with the estimate I decided to return it since it was out my range, I also return it because I was afraid of assembling it on my own and perhaps something could break. Once, they attempted to issue a refund, they advised that they could not do it since the item was not in the store, that instead Office Max will send me a check in the mail. I asked how long does it take? they replied a bout a week. and I said okay and I left the store. It has been two months since and neither I have still not gotten my refund nor anyone from Office Max has contacted me. I went to the store twice after it and they advised me that they send the check and nothing. Then I decided to call and the customer service representative named Christina was very rude to me and said she did not have control over it, that there was nothing she could do and to wait for someone from Office Max to contact me. Guess what? no one has contacted me and I still do not have my refund. I do not understand how hard can it be for them to refund a customer $200 either by check or by mail. At this point I am very upset, I feel like writing a complaint and filing it with to court, so they can actually spend 10 times more in an attorney to answer the complaint. read more

As a somewhat frequent (but now former) shopper at this store, I have to agree with kenken v that it is often hard to find "help" when you need it - though during my last visit, I did experience excellent service from a young female "checker". My problem with the store this time was with the manager, who refused to honor a POSTED sale price on a USB drive. The sale had apparently expired 4-5 days earlier, but the manager could not explain why the sign was still up since he personally checked the aisles everyday. He also ignored the fact that someone was stocking the very area in which I was shopping - yet he too failed to remove the sign. Instead, the manager advised that he has often seen customers pick old signs up off the floor - and attach them to the shelves. I don't think I'm being too sensitive to "read this" as an implication (by the manager) that I might have put the sign up - not to mention that I don't quite "get" why the manager would not have seen "said sign" on the floor during his daily inspections. Although I called Office Max Customer Service immediately about the situation and was told I would be contacted by a District Manager, 5 days have since passed with no contact from Office Max. Making a 2nd call to Customer Service today, I was advised the matter was still being investigated. Why someone from management could not have called me to at least let me know the matter was being looked into, I don't understand. Whatever, there will be no more shopping by me at this or any other Office Max store. One addtl comment: Since I was still in the store when I called Customer Service, I did tell the store manager I had made a complaint - to which he responded that the complaint would just be "passed down" to him anyway. read more

Aug 31,2016. I am a regular customer here. Came in for 2 copies. I went to check out although no cashier is there I have been told many times to still go there. While waiting as I was next the worker is at the large desk checking customers out that just walkedup and I asked and he keeps checking out people and then he apologizes to thepeople in that line if I can be next? I was there waiting longer than all of them. Then this guy where I was waiting comes back and starts checking people out and the other guy states to go in that line and theother guykeeps checking out people and I said thisis. ridiculous! Then the other guy ignores me and tells the people inline thank you for your patience! They did not have to wait for people that came wayafter them. Then The cashier in my original line does not want to stop checking out people inthe originalline that I was in and I said that I am next.
