Beware The "Pastrami Reuben"…read more I saw that hundreds of people on Yelp had reviewed Cibolo Creek Brewing and overall ratings were over 4 stars. I should have done a bit more reading and looking at the pictures. We stopped in on a mid-afternoon Sunday in early June. First impression upon entering through the front door was confusion. It was not really clear what the process was to order and get a seat. We approached the bar area and then noticed the "order here and seat yourself" signs. Several people came in behind us and so we felt a bit rushed to order. There were several craft beers on tap, but I was told I could not get a flight at the moment. I was able to get a taster, but with all the people behind me waiting to order, I didn't feel I had time to find out more about the beers before committing to a 16oz pour or lose my place in line. Shame on me for not doing my homework. We tried "The BEST Burger" and the "Pastrami Reuben", both with fries and two beers for close to $60 plus tip. The burger wasn't the best. It was sort of "meh". The homemade fries were good. The so-called Reuben was closer to a brisket sandwich than an actual Reuben. The meat was very mesquite-wood-smokey and then appeared to have been fried on a grill (definitely not steamed). It was very chewy despite being thinly sliced and had NONE of the flavor good pastrami has. The menu claims the meat is tri-tip, but tri-tip is known to be a tender cut. The meat on that sandwich was NOT tender. Cibolo Creek Brewery is in a great location (which sort of explains the prices) right next to the Cibolo Creek Trail and River Road Park and they do have a nice covered outdoor seating area with large family-style picnic tables. I may return to sample a few more of their beers and see if there is something I like better on the menu.

They were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menus. I had the original Boerne burger, my friend had a soup and sandwich. The service there was outstanding. The professionalism and friendliness of the staff are commendable. The grill interior is a small style country city Grill. It is very comfortable and pleasant. The food was brought out, and it was presented in a very acceptable manner. The quality and the amount of food is definitely outstanding. It tasted really good. The ambience in the place is very friendly and while we were, it was not a noisy place. It is a very affordable restaurant. I highly encourage you to go there and try their many various dishes. Is an old establishment and well thought of by the locals. With all this being said, I would recommend this place definitely. However, the restroom could use some major attendance. Still even with this last statement, I would recommend this place for your dining experience.

There was a line when I walked in--always a good sign. Most of the crowd was older folks and what looked like regulars just hanging out and enjoying breakfast. Not very welcoming but not a big dealbreaker. I honestly wasn't that hungry, which was kind of bad timing because the breakfast menu looked really good. Walking to my table and seeing everyone else's food definitely made me feel like I picked the wrong day not to be starving. I ended up just getting a caramel macchiato, and my niece and I shared a cinnamon roll. The baked goods seemed homemade, which is always nice. The macchiato was alright, and the cinnamon roll was pretty good. I'd come back for sure--just next time when I'm actually hungry enough to try a full breakfast.

For a public library, especially in a small or medium sized city now, the place is very welcoming and boy, inside, lots of chairs and tables to sit on and enjoy a book, a magazine or just gaze outside like we did. The second floor is where the books are. It looks like it has an extensive book collection within the bookshelves. It has private rooms to study and write if that's what you want. For the children, summertime is a great time to go to a library because they have individual programs to pass away the doldrums of summer. Here, you can play, read and have a class with other kids. The outside looks great too. We did not walk around as much although there is a small park located within the compound. They also have a separate bookshop, all within a short walking distance from the library. All in all, this would be a grand place to spend a couple hours to relax, keep cool and get some reading done. We all need it after a very hectic week in the hill country. We got hit with another epic flood and to be honest, I'm not looking forward to next July!

To say that these are gluten-free is crazy, they taste so delicious and the flavor and texture do not elude to what you find in most gluten-free pastries. The sweet potato sticky pecan bun was so delicious, especially a little bit warm with some black coffee. It is so soft and moist with just the right amount of sweetness, you would think that it would be overwhelmingly sweet, but it wasn't, it was perfect. And the carrot cake muffin was equally amazing with a hint of sweet cream cheese, tucked away in the middle of the muffin popping out to give you a sweet kiss. The service is always amazing and I love the rustic, yet modern feel they have curated to blend right in to Boerne culture.

Sure enough, less than 5 minutes away we find bakery Lorraine. I'm obsessed with tarts and cinnamon rolls and both were delicious. The cinnamon roll was more croissant-like and upscale. The tart had very good cream and beautiful figs and decoration on top. Our coffees were delicious and the whole restaurant and seating area was very peaceful and relaxing. We went back to the river but on another day I wouldn't mind reading and writing there. Very friendly staff and lots of quality treats.
