avoid this cinema at all costs if you're actually interested in watching a film. I brought my two young cousins to see moana couple of weeks ago. I had to complain four times before anything was done. the three children that were supposed to be sat behind us were running up and down the aisle to the screen, fighting on the floor, shouting, swinging on the end of my seat in my face for forty minutes. lots of other kids shouting throughout the film and another lady complained as kids were throwing sweets at her. there was a queue of people complaining and asking for refunds because the film was ruined. we had to leave after 40 minutes because we barely had seen any of the film because of the disruption. I come to your cinema very often, almost weekly sometime twice a week, I've spent £300 on tickets alone on tickets this year and I've never in my life seen anything like it. I've been put off ever going to a first showing of a film to avoid this experience again. we now have to wait a few days to avoid this type of behaviour but will have to go and watch again as they were so disappointed. I've wasted my time and money and has left me with a sour taste in my mouth that people can behave so atrociously. there should have been more done to stop this behaviour and all I got from your company was an email saying you show videos at the start of the film to tell people how to behave. Please avoid this cinema if you're an actual movie enthusiast. read more

As far as all the Cinemas in Cardiff go, this is the best! It has everything a cinema should have: Lots of screens, an IMAX cinema, sweets, popcorn and drinks. If you are ever stuck for something to do down Cardiff Bay and a film your desperate to see is out then go there and enjoy a nice cinema experience. I visit on multiple occasions because I like the whole look and atmosphere of the cinema. Some of the employees who work there are very lovely and do not mind going out of there way to help you. I have been in a number of situations where the service comes out top every time. However, it can get very pricey in there. They do offer student discount providing you have your card or they have certain discounts depending on what day. If you have their loyalty card it's 25% off Tuesdays and they offer 'Orange Wednesday's' too. It can get extremely busy in there too with big releases so you should always book in advance if you want a good seat. You can also select you seat if you're willing to pay £1 extra, if you do then that seat is reserved for you and you can arrive for your film whenever you want. Odeon is a wonderful cinema to visit. With their IMAX screen it remains to be the most popular cinema in Cardiff. If you really want to treat yourself then pay for the V.I.P area upstairs (over 18's only) and receive the ultimate experience. Unlimited nachos, soft drinks and popcorn? Yes Please! read more

I went and saw Avatar in the 3D iMax cinema here and, just wow! The sound, vision and film were amazing. Probably the best I've visited in a good few years if 'm being honest. The cool thing besides the actual cinema etc is that they sell dvd's here too for a reasonable price, generally they aren't brand new releases but for a cinephile such as myself, that doesn't matter in the slightest. There's also a bar upstairs aswell if you fancy a cheeky drink before going to watch your film, not recommended as drink and dark places send me to sleep. This is generally our date venue, with a nice meal at the bay and a film in here afterwards. As a simple man, this is a lovely night out. read more

This is the best place in Cardiff to watch a film. Yes it's possible to see 3D films here! But bare it in mind, if you already have 3D glasses then take them to see a film here, because otherwise you have to pay £1 per person to have a pair. Tickets are more expensive: £6. 50p per adult. In the town centre they are cheaper; but then the cinema and location that the complex is a lot nicer than the ones in town, so it is like you are paying for the extra comfort and cleanliness. You can buy Ben and Jerri's Ice creams, chocolate, sweets, drinks, hot dogs, tortillas and some kind of source, the usual accessories that anyone would need for a cinema enjoyment to their liking. I like to go if my parents take me as they earn more money than me, they also drive me down there, so I don't have to get the bus like I usually do. read more

This is a very convenient multiplex cinema for drivers, located at the Red Dragon Centre on Hemingway Road, with a dozen big screens all on ground floor level (and about six smaller auditoriums, too). There's free parking outside - all you need to remember is to get your ticket validated in the cinema before leaving the complex! What I like about Odeon is the over 18s-only Gallery, which you pay extra to sit in but enjoy an added bit of comfort (wider seats) and luxury. It's fully licensed so you can enjoy a drink, plus you get unlimited drinks and snacks such as Coke, tea and coffee, biscuits, popcorn, and nachos with cheese and salsa. As is always the case with cinemas, the food and drinks you can buy there are extortionately priced. Ticket prices for normal peak times are £7.75 for an adult, but for the special Gallery over 18s area they cost £16 (obviously all tickets are cheaper if you go during 'super saver' or 'saver' times, or if you are a child, teen, senior over 60s, or a student, etc). read more

Head and shoulders above any cinema in Cardiff and the surrounding areas, the Odeon boasts mightily impressive facilities. With films being screened in both 3D and in iMax, there aren't too many cinemas around which match this one. The Gallery is also another great feature of the Odeon in Cardiff, with guests paying a premium for extra comfortable seats, unlimited supplies of nachos, popcorn and soft drinks, as well as the opportunity to enjoy these snacks in a lounge area prior to the screening. With Orange Wednesdays massive popularity amongst all age groups, the Odeon is usually absolutely packed on Wednesday evenings, as well as attracting fairly substantial amounts of customers on Friday and Saturday evenings. There are interactive ticket machines which can be used to collect pre-ordered tickets, which might be advisable to those wishing to visit the Cinema during peak times. Snacks aren't cheap, but in cinema's nationwide this seems to be the case so can't really be used as a criticism against this particular cinema. Definitely my favourite multiplex in Cardiff, and recent refurbishments have made it even better. I find this Odeon is a great alternative to the cinemas in town as its 12 screens are all on the ground floor, so there's no trekking upstairs involved. What's also unique about this cinema is the gallery option for over 18s. The tickets are a pricy £15, but the seats are more comfy and you get unlimited popcorn, nachos, and drinks. I've used the gallery option a few times and unless it's a special occasion I wouldn't really recommend it, whilst you are allowed unlimited food, social etiquette means that you only ever tend to take one bag of popcorn for fear of looking like a pig. This is also the only cinema in Cardiff that has an Imax, though after experiencing Imax theatres in America, I was a little disappointed by the size of the screen. Whilst you usually have to pay for parking in Atlantic Wharf, if you're watching a film at the Odeon staff will be more than happy to validate your ticket making parking free (another benefit over town). This cinema is by no means perfect (food and drink are way too expensive), but as multiplex cinemas go, it isn't half bad. read more

I have to echo Sarah's sentiments here because Odeon is by far my favourite cinema complex in Cardiff. Now they've gone and got an imax screen things have got even better. Like my fellow yelper has noted, the cost of the snacks and drinks is pretty ludicrous however as a notorious glutton I'm more than happy to pay for the gallery option and help myself to unlimited food and drink. In fact, it's become a challenge between my friends and I to eat as much as is humanly possible. This causes us to limp back to the car, clutching our tummies and groaning, what helps with eating is the fact that the seats are unbelievably comfy and I can cross my legs on the chair and still not have my knees touch the sides. The student discount is decent and the parking is free, so if you're having a budget night out and you're still studying you can visit the cinema for £5.50, this was pretty much my only source of entertainment in my last year of uni. I saw every single film that was on and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. read more

More expensive than Cineworld, but with fancier seats, IMAX and nicer toilets. You also get free parking (which is a big point in its favour for me), and it's great for birthdays and dates as there are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit afterwards. While you get a lot more families heading here (probably because of the free parking facilities) I've found that there are less groups of kids and teenagers that chat and mess around throughout the film annoying everyone in the cinema that have so often ruined the film for me in Cineworld. While free parking is a big plus and the reason I so often choose the Odeon over Cineworld, it also acts as a point against it, particularly at weekends and on Wednesdays. Weekends are naturally really busy, and Orange Wednesday is incredibly popular and I've very often driven all the way down here only to circle the car park for half an hour in hunt of spaces that at least 30 other cars are prepared to fight me for, before giving up and going home. Great for any other day of the week, but unless you're prepared to get there really early, taking a bus into town and going to Cineworld might be a safer bet during peak times. read more

Situated in Cardiff Bay, the Odeon is one of the newest Cinemas in the Cardiff area. The cinema itself has many screens that offer hundreds of seats, although you have to pay extra depending on the quality of seats you want, e.g. gallery seating, etc. They even sell a selection of DVD's (albeit, expensive DVD's), so if you are in a real movie mood, you can pick up an extra film on your way out. It's frequently busy, with Friday and Saturday nights regularly attracting queues of people that stretch back far down the Red Dragon Centre. Wednesday is also a busy night with the Orange Wednesday deal bringing in extra business, while the cinema's own Odeon Card offers discounts and rewards that can provide a cheaper night's entertainment depending on how often the cardholder uses it. Also, the cinema is located amongst a wide range of bars and restaurants and is just a short walk from Mermaid Quay's nightlife, which makes it a great location for a full night of activities. read more

I love cinema and this is a very good one indeed. Unfortunately I have an unlimited cinema card at Cineworld which is a lot closer for me being in town and works out a lot cheaper as the Odeon can be a little pricey. If you are down the bay or fancy a cinema that offers a bit extra then this is the cinema for you. This particular cinema has an IMAX screen and I love IMAX cinemas, they are a rare breed nowadays seeing as the nearest one used to be Bristol and now that has gone, this is the only option if you like your screens immense, perfect for a 3d film. WIth this cinema you do have the option to pay a bit more for premier seats that offer more space and are better positioned to watch the movie, you can get deals that include snacks with your upgraded seats so look out for these as they can work out at very good value. read more

Located in the Red Dragon centre (mermaid quay), the screens are clean, seats comfy and thankfully it's never packed to the rafters! Nice variety of snacks inc Ben and Jerrys ice-cream stall. I gave it 3 stars due to the really expensive price of tickets, even the student discount is quite poor. read more

For a multiplex cinema, this is truly amazing. The sound and picture quality is always up to par, and the seats are comfortable.

Good quality projection and sound, with sufficient number of screens to offer a range of the most popular films. Offers some films not in English (mostly Asian). The large auditoria can be cold and impersonal, seats are plush but I find them uncomfortable, especially after 90 minutes. Very large car park, but often full up in lots nearest to centre entrance as site also includes bowling, casino, Dr Who exhibit (said to be due to relocate), restaurants and ice cream/tea cafe and motel. NB parking is charged unless spending at least £4 and validating ticket with outlet. However, prices are too high (£10 per head for Dec. 2010 3D screening, making it a very expensive 'night out' for families, especially if extras such as popcorn, drinks or sweets are bought at their double or triple going rate prices). Perhaps a good venue for couples (young or not) looking for blockbuster entertainment. For a more relaxed, refined and affordable cinema experience, screening the best of world cinema, seek out the refurbished Chapter Arts in Canton: regular screenings for families and parents with babies. read more

This cinema is in the Red Dragon Centre, close to Cardiff Bay. The prices are slightly more expensive than other Cardiff cinemas but they do give the standard discounts. They don't seem to start showing films until about 2pm. It can get very busy in the evening, so make sure you arrive early. read more
