In their initial concept, artists Edgar Sanchez Cumbas and Guillermo Portieles wanted to represent the hard working individuals in West Tampa "who embraced a thriving a social and cultural community through its broad mix of nationalities and religions." The town of Redington is little Florida town with snazzy shops, cute boutiques, and a piping night…read morelife. As a millionaire I heard about this place 14 years ago when my parent bought a condo down here. The town it self has many diners and all are satisfactory. It's a small town, everyone knows everyone's name. The locals are as tan as can be but also friendly. My wife loves it so much that I'm considering buying a condo. The town is great for people of all economical backgrounds.

Others were not so pleased! The original old cars are amazing pieces of art! From a 50'something 2-seater Thunderbird to a perfect 2 of 9 Alfa Romeo and then a 195X Chevy Suburban! My personal favorite was the classic 60's clean and sharp Cadillac! Never to be duplicated and always to be appreciated! These designs are incredibly unique and beautiful! Oh yea. I got there early and they were out of coffee. Minus one star but life is good with beautiful automobile art!

A brave Greek immigrant sponge diver stands along the docks of Tarpon Springs, a Greek community…read morethat became the center for the Florida sponge industry in 1890. In later years the town has evolved into a sponge industry tourist attraction and it is a great place to find Greek food. This bronze copper statue replaces an older fiberglass model from 1975. The Sponge Diver statue was dedicated in 2002, "In Memory of the Spongers of Tarpon Springs". The statue depicts a young man in his rubber diving suit and boots, holding his helmet in one arm. Many sponge divers died on the job. This statue stands a memorial to the lives lost while pursuing this dangerous profession. You can find the Sponge Diver Statue across from the Sponge Exchange, just west of Athens St. on Dodecanese Blvd. As a fan of public art I was pleased to make the Sponge Diver's acquaintance.

Down at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs to attend the Sponge Docks Arts & Crafts Show this…read moreweekend. It was a gorgeous day for it. There was something for everyone. So glad to see the docks and merchants survived Idalia's storm surfer but there were a couple of shops advertising "storm sales". Great event, plenty of bargains from local and visiting artists in addition to regular merchants. I love the Sponge Docks!

This war memorial stands in the front plaza of the Hillsborough County Courthouse at Pierce Street…read moreand Madison Street, a solid rectangular structure about ten to twelve feet tall with plaques honoring service members from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and those engaged in future conflicts. Each face carries a pair of bronze panels, and the inscriptions move from specific battles like Belleau Wood, Meuse‑Argonne, Normandy, Guadalcanal, and the Bulge to broader reflections on freedom, justice, and equality. The memorial sits opposite the Hydria installation, whose tall cistern‑columns frame the courthouse entrance and give the plaza a distinctive civic feel. I visited in the late afternoon into early evening, after the courthouse had closed for the day, which made it easy to walk the plaza without the usual weekday flow of people heading in and out of the building. The quiet made the inscriptions easier to take in, and the setting felt more contemplative than it probably does during business hours.
