Overall, it was okay…read more Today was my first successful donation w/ physical and overall, my experience was okay. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either. I arrived almost an hour earlier than my appointment time and appreciated being worked in and able to start my process earlier. The process was also super informational and thorough, but still somehow quick and efficient which was great. Staff also answered any questions I may have had during the process and were attentive to me as well. Truly my only complaints are during my finger prick at the first station, I was pricked in the center of my middle finger and 7 hours later it is still hurting like holy cow!! As a medical professional myself too, I know that finger pricks need to be on the SIDE of the finger. Next time, I will be making sure of this and I would hope that staff is fully complaint in doing so. I also happen to notice a donor frequently dozing off as well to which I saw no staff react or act upon. I was told that sleeping or having my eyes closed was not allowed due to safety precaution, but multiple people let this person "sleep" while they saw and did nothing. Just thought that maybe we could be better in the future for things like that.

And I thought it was a good excuse to eat a box of Twinkies after.. Well that experience was far less wonderful then my recent experience at Lifeserve Blood Center. After a fairly quick questionnaire, I was in a room getting my vitals checked before I could give blood! Yep I have a low Pulse.. only 44 so they were a bit worried about that, but after saying I was a runner, they gave me the go ahead to give blood! The nurse was fantastic and the needle did not hurt to bad going in and she was there the whole time making sure I was doing ok! My pint of blood filled up in about 7 minutes and the whole experience lasted under 45 minutes from walking through the door to end of donation sipping OJ! I love how the signage was all about saving lives and it made me feel, like I did a really good thing for the world.. My arm was not to sore and I felt really good all day! The staff was all top notch, and it was a really positive, clean environment and I look forward to getting a reminder text or email about the next time I can give again. I feel like this should become part of my life! ... To help save some!

Ames center has lost all my respect. It has gone downhill over the last couple of years …read more Management is terrible, most of the staff are rude and don't care about the people they are giving services to . Don't you people realize that you need OUR help with OUR contributions ? I've worked in customer service myself and experienced the high demands , but there's a better way to treat others so lose the attitude and learn proper etiquette. I was on a bed for 44 minutes due to a bad stick drawn by Addy the manager. I was okay with it at first until it felt like she was poking at my arm just for the heck of it . Then she brings another gal over . short and chubby named Sydney was just as bad . It hurt the second time around and they both looked annoyed that I was clearly in pain . They both just walked away without any more explanation and I caught them both staring and obviously speaking about me in a negative tone . I've never felt so embarrassed to be in a situation that I had no control over . These people are obviously not trained professionals. Just obviously losers in white coats . Never go to the Ames Center !! Beware of unprofessional staff !

It helps many…read morepeople, has health benefits for donors, accelerates medical science, and you can get some extra cash. In no way would I discourage people from donating in principle. If you are able and wish to do so, I'd encourage you to try it. However, this clinic is absolutely abysmal and pure ass. I have donated plasma a few places, and this clinic is definitely the worst. The employees are inept, rude, and generally bad at their jobs. If you have to repeatedly stab someone with a needle and make them bleed everywhere to find a vein, maybe you should consider taking up cross stitching, or being a prison tattoo artist. I also hear murder can pay well, at least in PR. It is almost like most of the staff has never been in public or interacted with another human being before. The staff also seems to be a gaggle of degenerates of a high order. I can't stop a person from practicing poor hygiene, but if you're going to be a contemptible wank to people around you, then stay at home. Though the clinic seems to at best, carelessly, or at worst, deliberately, hire a certain type of person. I have worked in customer service and retail myself, so I know the jobs are stressful, and I can't reasonably expect everyone to have the best day of their life every single day at a job that is difficult. However, if you consistently hate working with people, you need to get another job. You are ruining your life, giving customers bad experiences, as well as the reputation of your employer. If you are the employer and keep hiring buffoons, then you either need to adopt new recruiting and vetting methods, or dramatically improve your workplace if no one wants to work for you. Employees will flirt with you, and then stonewall you when you rebuff them. This was not a one-off experience either. Having made the judgment error on my part of going here a few times over the course of 7-8 months, the staff turnover seems high. Some of this is a feature of working in a college town, but it also reflects that people don't aspire to remain here long term. The administrators and nurses are also rude and condescending, talking down to everyone as if they deserve a Nobel peace prize, but were forced to babysit 1st graders rather than work for NASA. It really does go all the way to the top. I would not recommend going here, and actively advise against being a donor at this clinic. Grifol's Biomat, Lifeserve, and Community Bio Resources are all superior alternatives. As I mentioned at the outset, donating plasma is worthwhile. Though when you have multiple options, don't settle for the bottom of the barrel.

She once yelled at a coworker that she was "stealing her friends" and eavesdrops on conversations, follows you to the break room and hovers over your shoulder looking at what you're doing on your phone. She's extremely unprofessional, and constantly flirts with her bf Ethan and leaves all the work to Hannah or other employees. She and her bf Ethan take 45-58min long lunch breaks when it's a 30min limit- and has Sabrina Dock- the manager in her pocket. Employees drop like flies around this ghetto establishment due to managerial negligence and turning a blind eye to Tay's extremely petty behavior. It's like she's the manager and Sabrina doesn't care what she does. Carmen Brown also will gossip about employees and if she can- she will go to a third party (such as a mutual nail technician) and ask after private health information and when their next nail appointment is. Once we spoke to management about her illegal activities she was then made to email this employee after every conversation she had with her. This place is crazier than watching Shameless and more ghetto- and will get know donors and ask them to apply to Grifols as they are terminally short staffed due to all this inappropriate and unacceptable behavior and conditions. They think they can smooth this deep festering wound with pizza, sandwiches- and prizes to keep phlebotomists on the floor. Just because Tay lives across the street from the donor center doesn't mean she should pretend everything and everyone is her doormat. If only someone cared to actually rectify all this obscene behavior.
