The principal is consistently visible on campus, actively engaging with and assisting students. We had a little rough start in the beginning with a few staff leaving, but they made the transition smooth for the students.

He was swung by his hands and feet against the bathroom walls and pushed to the ground. They also took his shoes from his feet and ran with them. He was covered in bruises & his clothes (that were brand new) were so dirty and his white socks were black. They didn't care that he got hurt and acted as if it was his fault. On a different day one of the same kids called my son gay and told him to kiss one of his class mates. The kids there are evil and so is the teacher Ms.Phillips In room 4. Had no remorse for what happened to him and didn't call me when it happened. I didn't find out until I picked my son up that day.

I am writing to formally express my serious concern regarding a disturbing incident in which a…read morestudent was physically attacked on school grounds while a teacher allegedly witnessed the event and failed to intervene, de-escalate the situation, summon immediate assistance, or render aid afterward. If these reports are accurate, this conduct represents a significant failure to uphold the district's duty of care and its legal and ethical obligation to maintain a safe educational environment for all students. School employees are entrusted with the responsibility to take reasonable and appropriate action when a student's safety is threatened. A failure to act during a violent incident may constitute negligence and raises serious concerns regarding staff training, supervision, compliance with district policy, and adherence to mandated student safety protocols. Equally troubling is the reported failure to provide assistance or support to the student following the attack. The apparent lack of intervention and post-incident response demonstrates a disregard for student welfare that cannot be overlooked. Given the seriousness of this matter, I respectfully request that the district conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident, including a review of any surveillance footage, witness statements, staff conduct, and compliance with district safety procedures. I also request clarification regarding what corrective actions, disciplinary measures, and policy reviews will be implemented to ensure that students are properly protected moving forward. Parents and students must be able to trust that school personnel will act swiftly and responsibly when a child is in danger. Any failure to do so undermines confidence in the district's commitment to student safety and exposes the district to potential legal liability. I expect this matter to be treated with the urgency and seriousness it warrants, and I request a written response outlining the findings of the investigation and the steps being taken to address this issue.

I am a mother of 4, so I have years of working WITH the schools to help my kids…read more My last child is now in this school. I have never felt so locked out about my child. The campus is closed. Parents are not allowed on campus even with verified legal documents. They want parent involvement, but how. We can't walk our kids to class, we can't visit the classes. We can't even reach the principal or vice principal via email. Only have access to the teacher and a front office person via an App. I have provided documents about my childs ongoing sessions, and I'm getting annoying threatening notifications of unexcused absences. Then there is the nurse, smh my first year at this school, and I want her gone. She has an underlined problem that is obvious but ignored. When I can find another school that's fitting, I'm pulling my child from here. There are some nice staff, but overall, this school is not mentally, emotionally, or academically healthy for my child.

My children have been going to this school since one kindergarten and the other pre I'm so grateful…read morefor a school that genuinely cares about its students, their education, and their well-being. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure the kids have opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. Just some to name a few Mrs. Higgins, the TK teacher, is absolutely wonderful with the little ones. She is so loving, patient, and caring! The patience and kindness she shows at this age means so much to both the children and their parents. Mrs. Robles is one of those teachers who truly stands out. You can tell how much she cares about her students and their education. She takes the time to work with them one-on-one, provide extra opportunities to study, and make herself available to parents to talk about their child's progress and needs. That kind of dedication means so much as a parent. Mrs. Gutierrez, Mrs Segura are just to name a few more of the wonderful incredible staff!! I can go on because these are truly incredible teachers. This school just truly has a wonderful staff. What I also love about this school is the strong sense of community. They create an environment where students feel supported and where bullying is taken seriously and not tolerated. It gives parents peace of mind knowing their children are learning in a place where they are cared for, respected, and encouraged to do their best. I truly appreciate all the teachers and staff who put so much heart into what they do. It makes a difference, and I'm thankful my children are part of this school community. From the front office to the cafeteria thank you for making us feel comfortable and like family.

These negative posts about Mesquite couldn't be further from the truth. My kids have never had any problems with teachers or staff members. But my kids also get straight A's and pay attention in class. I would argue that kids are getting worse and do not care to learn anymore, which is very sad. The TK bathrooms are literally in the classroom so no one is taking kids to some private bathroom away from Mrs. Farrow! And Mrs. Butler deals with mostly bad kids that don't pay attention so I appreciated her being stern and hard on my kid to make her learn as much as possible! We are sad that Mr. Young has moved schools this year but we look forward to meeting the new Principal. Mesquite is a great school if you are a hands on parent that makes your kids do their homework every day, listen in class, and are eager to learn! Let's Go Mountain Lions!!!!

I removed both of my children from this school because I no longer felt they were safe or that my…read moreconcerns as a parent were being taken seriously. My daughter has an IEP and had multiple troubling experiences at this school. My daughter told me that her teacher, Mrs. Adair, screamed in her face. Mrs. Adair was also the teacher involved in denying my daughter access to the restroom, which resulted in my daughter urinating on herself. Afterward, her accident was announced in front of other students. My daughter was already struggling with bullying, and experiences like these caused her even more embarrassment and distress. Unfortunately, Mrs. Adair was not the only person I had concerns about. There was also a separate incident involving the PRINCIPAL. Another parent told me that she personally witnessed the principal screaming in my daughter's face while my daughter was crying. This parent was so concerned by what she witnessed that she actually followed me home from the school specifically to tell me what she had seen happen to my daughter. I did not personally witness this particular incident, so I want to be clear that this is what the parent who witnessed it directly reported to me. What ultimately made me completely lose trust in this school was what happened to my autistic son, who also has an IEP. I PERSONALLY witnessed what happened to him through the window. I watched an aide drag my son by his ankle and roughly put him into a chair. He began crying. I know what I saw because I stood there and watched it happen. The aide involved was working in Room 18 with Mrs. Porse. To my knowledge, this aide is still working at the school with other special-needs children. As a parent, that is extremely concerning to me considering what I personally witnessed happen to my son. I believe parents of other special-needs children deserve to know about my experience so they can be aware and make their own decisions regarding their children's care and safety. What was also disturbing was how my concerns were handled afterward. I was told that the aide claimed she had dragged or pulled my son by his "pants." My son was NOT wearing pants. When the video was reviewed and it was confirmed that he wasn't wearing pants, the explanation then changed to essentially, "maybe she meant pants by his..." rather than acknowledging the serious inconsistency in the explanation I had been given. I was also given an explanation that my son had been flopping around and grabbing things. That is not what I witnessed. I watched the incident myself. As the parent of a special-needs child who cannot always fully communicate what happens to him, I have to be able to trust the adults responsible for his care. After personally witnessing what happened to my son, hearing what my daughter experienced, and seeing my concerns dismissed while explanations changed, that trust was gone. These were not isolated concerns for our family. Both of my children had experiences at this school that left me feeling that their safety, dignity, and special-education needs were not being adequately protected. I ultimately removed them and enrolled them elsewhere. I'm sharing my family's experience because other parents -- especially parents of children with IEPs or children who have difficulty communicating -- deserve to know what we experienced. Parents should pay attention, document concerns, ask questions, and advocate for their children when something doesn't seem right.
