Lab work showed a likely UTI and anemia. The anemia was not shared with me. My dog did well over all and almost $900 later she came home. The next several days were uneventful but on Sunday March 22 in early evening my dog became ill and showed signs of distress. A trip to Mountain Emergency Vet was in order. Upon exam and radiograph it was determined she had a ruptured tumor on her spleen and there was little to be done so my sweet precious Buttercup was euthanized I'm not suggesting CBVC did anything wrong but it's their behavior since that has shown their true mission which is the almighty dollar and lack of caring being their mission. The emergency vet notified CBVC early March 23 of Buttercups passing. I called later that morning. Now mind you my dog had her annual On the 17th March and needed no routine vet services for a year had she lived. On Saturday April 4th I received a text from CBVC saying my dog needed vet services. I was really distressed and called them and chewed them out. Done with their incompetence so I thought. Yesterday I got a postcard saying my dog which passed 3 weeks earlier needed an annual checkup. These people should never be allowed to be in business. They really don't care about your pet or you. Run like hell to another Vet as fast as you can go. My heart is broken at the loss of my sweet precious Buttercup and they're so cruel that every time I start getting into a better head space they hit me again. They are cruel and evil.

    i had seen the Mountain Mobile Vet truck in my area, Blairsville, and weeks before the time came to…read moresay goodbye to my Buddy, i had called him to see if he would come out. i currently use Copper Basin Vet Clinic, but ever since Dr Mitchell sold the clinic and moved to south Georgia, their prices have tripled, and the service has gone down......i didn't want to traumatize Buddy by taking him to the clinic to say goodbye.....Dr Kinsey came out, not accepting new patients, but he told me, for this he would come to me, and while saying goodbye SUCKS, it was the best possible experience, under the circumstances, that i could've hoped for. i held Buddy in my arms until he was gone, Dr Kinsey didn't rush me, and if i'd have known then what i know now, i would've done this every time i've had to say goodbye (way too many times over the years). and the cost was very reasonable..... i only wish he was taking new patients....

Ga area and now we have retired here. I met Dr. Kinsey when I purchased my horses and he was the only vet in this area that would travel to where the horses were at and do a pre-purchase check up. I had an issue with a horse last year , hoof issue. He again responded quickly and provided me with medication and treatment needed daily twice a day. Now we have sold all our horses. We are full time residents in Young Harris now and we will use him for our 3 dogs, German Shepherd, A Chowski, Husky-Chow mix and our older Terrier . He's efficient, knowledgeable and just a all around great vet.

    Today was one of the most disappointing veterinary experiences I've ever had -- and it happened at…read morea time when my 19‑year‑old, medically fragile cat needed compassion the most. We brought Boo to Mountain Emergency Animal Center because she has lost four pounds and is showing clear signs of a UTI or kidney issue. My husband took her in because I'm sick, and called me so I could ask Dr. Richardson questions directly. Instead of helping me understand Boo's condition, Dr. Richardson cut me off every single time I tried to speak. I was left with no clarity about what the $600 worth of tests would actually tell us or whether they would meaningfully change anything for a cat her age. And let me be clear: if Dr. Richardson had shown even the slightest compassion or willingness to explain Boo's situation, I would have paid $1,000 without hesitation. I just spent over $1,000 at our primary vet for tests on my other cat. Money was not the issue -- her callous lack of compassion was. At one point she even referred to Boo as "your baby," followed immediately by, "for $600 we can get your baby checked out." That felt transactional, not caring. The visit alone was $195, and because I declined the $600 in tests -- due entirely to the lack of communication -- Dr. Richardson refused to send Boo home with even a basic antibiotic, despite her symptoms and her age. For a nineteen‑year‑old cat who may not make it through the weekend, withholding supportive care felt cold and punitive, not medical. After my husband left the exam room, I called the clinic myself -- sick with food poisoning, shaking, and exhausted -- because I knew something was wrong. I called back livid, I said a couple of words I don't normally say (I apologized to Trish ) and I absolutely raised my voice, because no one was listening. Only after I made it clear that I would be leaving a review did anything change. Suddenly, Dr. Richardson went back into the room to apologize to my husband for cutting me off and admitted she "should have listened" -- something that should have been done from the start and prescribed an antibiotic That antibiotic and the additional charge added another $75, bringing the total to $260. And let's be honest: we were inching closer and closer to the $1,000 they would have gladly collected had they taken the time to communicate with me in the first place. For the record: I have a medical background. I know what an infection looks like, smells like, and acts like. The only difference between me and the vet is humans vs. animals -- but a UTI is a UTI, and a kidney infection is a kidney infection. Female anatomy isn't so different that the basics suddenly don't apply. The signs were obvious. The dismissal was unnecessary. And the lack of communication was dangerous. When I called Mountain Emergency Animal Center afterward, I spoke with Trisha, who did nothing but defend Dr. Richardson. Instead of listening, she repeated, "Dr. Richardson is very well‑liked," and insisted it was "just a miscommunication." There was no miscommunication. There was no compassion, no patience, and no willingness to answer a worried owner's questions about a geriatric animal in distress. What makes this even harder is that I've had excellent experiences here before. When my 120‑lb dog Armani had to go over the rainbow on February 23,2023, the doctor who handled it was honest, gentle, and humane. She explained everything clearly and never pushed unnecessary tests. That level of care is why we trusted this clinic. Today was the opposite of that standard. I'm sharing this so other pet owners -- especially those with elderly, fragile animals -- understand what they may encounter. At nineteen years old, Boo deserved compassion and clear communication. She received neither at Mountain Emergency Animal Center. And if I hadn't fought for her care while sick in bed, she would have walked out untreated. And because of that this review will stand.

So glad I did choose AAH. They are amazing. Routine visits with my furkids have always been happy and pleasant pre CVD19. I have experience with the clinic and boarding facilities. I have nothing but positive feelings and experiences. Perfection. My boy Jackson was diagnosed with chronic renal failure in late winter 2020. It was grueling watching my dog, who has been with me since birth, slowly deteriorate. It truly broke my heart in a million pieces. AAH was with me every step of the way. Their knowledgeable staff of clinicians and doctors helped me give Jackson a good quality of life until his last days. Sadly, Jackson lost his battle in the middle of a pandemic. Appalachian Animal Hospital showed their true spirit of compassion in Jackson's last visit. They were kind. Compassionate. Caring. I was permitted to be with my boy until he went to his creator. I will be eternally thankful for all AAH did for my buddy and for me. I have several loved ones that will meet and have been seen by this fantastic hospital. I trust them. The staff at Appalachian Animal Hospital have my highest recommendation and sincere thanks.

The next visit I'm not sure who I saw. They took her back to get a fecal. I told them that I could have brought a stool sample. I could hear her screaming. Apparently, they stuck some kind of bubble wand up there trying to get something. I didn't like that but I didn't say anything. What's really been on my mind is my last yearly visit. Normally I like mornings, but I agreed to a 2 o'clock appointment. I got there at 1:30 and the front desk said we're early. No hello, how are you, hello Dolly. Just 'we're early'. I misjudged how long it would take me to get there from Cumming. I always get to appointments a little early, like 15 or so. I figured I'd get right in after lunch and get out quick. Dr. Bassett did come out looking for somebody while I was in the front so I saw him there. So at 1:50 a woman walked in with her dog and was taken right back. I was a little frustrated, but thought maybe she's seeing someone else. At 2:10 I was finally put in a room. The tech came in shortly after said so we're here for a yearly exam. I'm sorry I just don't get it. I know why I am there. I said I had been waiting for a while. She said well the doctor is doing return phone calls. She was not nice about it either. Why have a 2 o'clock appointment then? If you're calling people with sick dogs, or some kind of post treatment question that could take some time. When she screamed, they looked at each other like what's going on here. He said I should go get some kind of joint medicine to give to her for life! It's expensive. Chondroitin? She's not in any joint pain. She doesn't limp. She doesn't have any joint problems. I went in, not too long after that to get her Simperica trio and the tech that was in the room that day was coming in from I don't know where lunch or maybe to start her day and she gave me a dirty look in the parking lot. I hadn't done anything wrong. I show up on time, well early actually, and I ask why I'm having to wait so long when I had seen the doctor there and I'm a problem? It's also very frustrating when they googoo gaga on other dogs and don't even acknowledge my dogs existence. My dog is so sweet. She loves girls and there are a lot of them up there. I just don't know if I will continue going there. It's really hard to find somebody too, so it's upsetting
