They recommend that we try their sister hospital in Social Circle. After using Wellsprings boarding service twice with no issues at all, it made sense to use Social Circle Veterinary Hospital. This turned out to be a very bad decision. On Monday, we took our dog over for a walk through 5 days before leaving him for boarding, to see if he would have problem. No issues were noted and they said that he was ok to stay there. Saturday, we brought him to start his stay. They ask me sign a letter permitting them to give him Trazodone to use for relief of anxiety. I signed it thinking that it would not be needed, nor was it used during his previous stays at the sister site. During our trip I called them on the Wednesday to see how he was doing, they put me on hold to check his status. They came back to the phone and said they he was ok, he was eating ok and had just been out side. No mention of any issues or problems. Came back to pick him up on Thursday, and they told me they had to use Trazodone starting the day we brought him in Saturday. We never received a call on Saturday while we were still here, now anything during our trip. They did not contact our son who was listed to be contacted if something should happen. When I called, they did not mention that they had been giving him Trazodone starting the day we dropped him off. GSD are known to be active; they apparently were not prepared for this and decide to use this as an excuse to do a money grab. They added a doctor office visit $78.00, 100mg Trazodone $39.50 and jacked up the boarding stay from $29.00 a day to $50.70. I talked with Maggie about this and she said that there was a problem with communication and that she was going to look into it. Lesson learned the hard way make sure you know where you are boarding our pet and don't sign any medication waivers. I'm very disappointed at the recommendation that Wellsprings made. Their sister hospital leaves a lot to be desired, clearly, they are not operated, equipped or staffed the same.

The doctor then called me and said he was concerned about my cat's health and wanted to do more blood work. He scared me into submission. They charged me over 300.00 for the extra blood work. When the results came back, turns out my cat is 100% healthy. It cost over 800.00 to find out my cat is healthy. When I asked to speak to a doctor about the bill, they started making excuses why a doctor couldn't speak with me. They said they would have one call me Monday. Never happened. Very unprofessional and dishonest. Do not use this clinic.

Disappointing tone, condescending care, and absurd extra fees…read moreI had to schedule an urgent visit here because our normal clinic was fully booked and I needed to bring my cat in after a stray literally broke through our porch screen to attack her inside our own home. I was just trying to be proactive and prevent a serious infection, but the whole experience was terrible. Instead of focusing on my cat, the vet spent the visit lecturing me about the dangers of outdoor cats. She went on and on about how outdoor cats don't live as long, how they get hit by cars, get attacked, or catch rabies. I explicitly told her I agreed with her points, that we live nowhere near a main road, and that I'm balancing family dynamics with cats who love the outdoors. But she just kept preaching. She even condescendingly told me I should put chicken wire over my screens or build a catio--completely ignoring that chicken wire isn't predator-proof and that the stray broke into what should have been a safe, enclosed space. On top of the attitude, their billing practices feel like total nickel-and-diming. Every single medication option had a separate "service fee" tacked on ($12 to $30 extra per item), which basically doubled the cost of the medicine itself. When I asked what the service fee was for, the staff told me it covers counting out, packaging, and bottling the meds. But the anti-inflammatory they gave me was a single, factory-sealed blister pack straight from the manufacturer. All the clinic did was slap a prescription sticker on the box. Charging a full fulfillment "service fee" just to put a sticker on pre-packaged medication is ridiculous. I came in looking for compassionate care during a stressful situation, but left dealing with condescension and bogus fees. I won't be back and definitely don't recommend them.

It's been such an emotional…read morejourney but Dr. Whitehead at BluePearl saved my little furbaby and I'm forever grateful for him and the team at BluePearl! I co-parent both of my dogs and my previous partner had moved to GA and my two dogs also spent the first half of the year in GA and then back to CA with me. Unfortunately, 2-3 months after moving to GA, my Maltese started having health issues. I came to GA to visit my dogs and first noticed an extended belly on my Maltese and he would always have soft stool and at times constant diarrhea. My intuition told me something was not right and I took him to Ansley animal clinic. I was then referred by Dr. Spook to see Dr. Whitehead at BluePearl since he is the internal medicine doctor here. We went through tons of bloodwork, urine analysis, ultrasounds, x-rays and probably a few other tests that I'm forgetting. At first there were 3 possible issues my furbaby was facing and each test was to rule out the worst ones. At least, Dr. Whitehead confidently diagnosed my dog with IBD. He then explained the treatment plan for him and the next steps to take. My dog was then put on a steroid call Prednisone and some anti-diarrhea medication. This is where things got really bad...I flew back to CA while my dog was in GA with my previous partner and on his current treatment. Randomly, one day he stopped eating, became lethargic and his skin started to turn yellow. He was brought to BluePearl's ER 2x and did bloodwork both times but they found nothing. Finally, on the third visit to the ER, his lab work came back with EXTREMELY elevated liver and kidney levels. It was so high to the point where the ER doctor called me and said he would be dying in a day or two and there is nothing they could do. Can you imagine receiving this call while being thousands of miles away from your furbaby... I got on the next flight back to GA to say my goodbyes. At this point, I was very heartbroken and had to see him one last time. But miraculously, he was admitted and Dr. Whitehead started aggressive IV treatment for him to do everything he can. Slowly, over the next 4-5 days my little guy started to do better and better. He was discharged on the 5th day when his values were looking more normal and went home. At this point he was on 7 kinds of medication, had lost 2.5 lbs and was all skins and bones at 3lbs. Completely heartbreaking to see him in this state. I've since brought both of my dogs back to CA, where I continued to nurture my Maltese back to health. He started to slowly eat bigger meals again, I slowly took him off 6 medications that he no longer needed but kept him on the Prednisone to regulate the gut bacteria for his IBD. Fast forward almost a year later, my Maltese is completely weened off the Prednisone, eating full meals, playing, back to his old self and weighing a healthy 6lbs. I want to thank Dr. Whitehead TREMENDOUSLY, although we have not kept in touch since we've gotten back to CA. But to say Dr. Whitehead is an incredible veterinarian is an understatement. He was highly professional, honest, transparent and very goal driven to finding the best treatment for my dog. The staff at BluePearl were all very great to work with and very empathic throughout the entire time. No matter how many times I called to check on my dog, asked questions, they were so patient and kind. Unfortunately, I had to take away a star because the ER doctor that called me at 3am PST, really didn't sound like she cared about my dog and emotionlessly told me he was not going to make it.

She collapsed on the hardwood floor, thrashing and snapping her head from side to side for what felt like an eternity -- nearly 5 minutes. I have never in my life seen Misty like this. She looked like she couldn't even breathe on her own. I truly thought I was about to watch my dog die right in front of me. What makes this even worse is that I was never warned this could happen. The staff rushed her discharge, handed her back to me without any real education or concern, and sent us home as if nothing serious could occur. There was no sympathy, no urgency, no sense of responsibility for my dog's safety. Misty weighs 52 pounds -- in the middle of this seizure I could barely even lift her. I had to drag her limp, thrashing body just to get her onto her bed so she would stop slamming her head on the hardwood floor. No owner should ever have to go through that alone. I even have video proof of this nightmare that I will attach with my review. As her owner, what was I supposed to do in that moment? I trusted these people to keep her safe, to care for her, and instead I was left completely unprepared and traumatized. The lack of compassion and communication at this hospital is inexcusable. I will never bring Misty back here again. Pet owners deserve a hospital that takes the time to properly monitor, educate, and support us through situations like this -- not one that treats our beloved pets like just another number.

I brought my friend and companion to get groomed. He was really matter on his paws. He won't let anyone touch them. He's a rescue and has high anxiety. For that reason he is out under anesthesia during the groom. I dropped him off and when I came back to pick him up and it seems that the person who brought him to me after it had been a while of me waiting was hesitant because he had been cut and he was bleeding so he needed a antibiotic topical and had to wear one of the cone hats. I thought about this before I called to complain I feel like he was injured there and that they should be responsible for paying the paying for the antibiotic and The cone hat I'm not asking for my money back for the groom I understand that accidents happen I'm not trying to fuss at anyone in particular I just think it would be a good gesture seeing as how he was hurt there that they could bill for the cone hat in the top of the antibiotic. So I spoke with office manager and she was out when this happened she was on vacation I spoke with her and she said she would get back to me a few times and she didn't I felt like I was being brushed off and my little puppy is my love he's my little companion it means a lot to me that he was hurt there and I am upset about it but they should be upset about it too I mean it happened there the doctor looked at it thought it required anti-biotic ointment topical and the hat.
