They vary in style and theme, with Cocomo Beachclub having "tropical paradise" overtones, as the picture shows. You have the choice of sitting inside or outside, with some seating being around Fire-Pits, and other offering lounging mattresses. Service is friendly, prices reasonable, and I would particular commend their "Spare Ribs in Special Sauce" - they have a French supplier whose pigs always seem to produce particularly lean ribs :-) Highly commended.

This ment that there were really no one at the beach and we were basically alone in this chill place and good pick a nice spot where the wind didn't blow and the temperature seemed 10 over actual. I've been here twice and both times two young boys were serving us. They were super friendly and ALL about service. They gave my dog water, they made cocktails even though they didn't really serve cocktails and one even gave my friend a cigarette when she was looking to buy and couldn't find! Drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. Toilet free of charge for customers and were fresh (but then again, we were almost alone there so it really should be fresh ;)). The chillaxing sofas was awesome to jump up into, throw (yes throw!) of your shoes and just chill the afternoon away.

I am not joking when I say that I want to fly back to the Netherlands purely to eat here again someday. We were looking for a place to eat that was within walking distance of The Hague Marriott. When another restaurant on the same street was all booked up for the evening, we found The Old Jazz. It was still before 1900 and not crowded. (However, every table was filled by the time we departed.) I am so thankful that the other restaurant was full, as this was a meal I will remember for years to come. I started with the salmon and tuna sashimi and my friend chose a crispy pita with bell pepper aioli. The fish was so fresh that I felt like I was back in Hawai'i enjoying a freshly-caught meal on the water's edge. My friend--notorious for being a very picky eater and never eating sushi--even tried the sashimi and ate a whole piece of tuna. The dish also featured wakame, a homemade kimchi-like veggie blend, sprouts, rice puffs, ginger, and wasabi (and not the packaged kind). My friend was thrilled with the pita. We also enjoyed some cocktails as starters. I really liked my elderflower spritzer to begin the meal. Although everything sounded delicious as a main course, I opted for the truffle rigatoni with the lobster. You know those dishes where you involuntarily close your eyes with every bite because it's so good that it almost overwhelms your senses? The balance of the dish was perfect: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami were all represented in harmony. If it wouldn't have been poor form, I likely would have licked the dish clean to savor every last note of flavor. Our waiter had also suggested a lovely glass of wine to go with the dish, and the recommendation was perfect. We absolutely had to order dessert to end the meal, opting for the moelleux au chocolate with a white chocolate crumble, vanilla mousse, and what was described as a "pure chocolate" ice cream. Again, this final dish was heavenly, and I wanted to pack the chef in my suitcase so I could enjoy this incredible experience again. Throughout the meal, the service was sublime. Every recommendation from our waiter was perfect, from the wine pairings to dishes that might interest us. I am immensely grateful that we stumbled upon The Old Jazz. Someday, I will find a way to return to The Hague, perhaps just so I can dine here again!

We walked up to The Fat Mermaid to look over a menu and, honestly, when I saw the Fat Mermaid Breakfast, we were sold. Asked for a table right then and there. Service was a little slow, I did make a note of that. It took a while for someone to come ask for our order. We were content to lounge on the patio and we didn't have anywhere to go, so we didn't really mind, but if you're in a hurry, I'd warn you about that. The food, however, was definitely worth the wait. I started with a cup of decaf coffee and an orange juice and then got the Fat Mermaid Breakfast (which, as you can see from the photo, is a veritable breakfast feast) and my friend got the Fat Frenchie (French toast). I was super pleased with my meal. The eggs were fluffy, the smoked salmon (possibly my favorite food in the world) was homesmoked and great, and I liked the assortment of breads. It's also worth noting that this is an excellent location. Right up on the beach so you can watch the waves roll in and the restaurant is well-furnished with many places to sit both inside and out. I would definitely recommend The Fat Mermaid if you have the time, it's a charming little place with great food!

We told the host we were there for drinks, and she said she would have a table for us soon. A couple minutes later she sat us at a nice outdoor table and we started looking through the drink menu at the wide array of cocktails. A waiter then came over and told us that they weren't even serving cocktails until hours later that day. We were there specifically for drinks, and the staff new that. Why would they have the cocktail menus on each table when they are not serving them? They are known for their cocktails. This lack of communication makes no sense to me. To any staff member of Vavoom who is reading this, please make some changes for your future guests! If someone comes to Vavoom and asks to be seated at an hour where you are not serving cocktails, kindly let them know that you are not serving cocktails BEFORE they sit down and start choosing their cocktails. Also do not keep the cocktail menu on the tables when they are not being served. If normal drinks like wine and beers served during that time are on the same menu, then you need to have separate menus for them. The hours in which you do not serve cocktails should also clearly be stated on the website so that people like my sister and I don't make the trip there for nothing. If these issues are addressed, and the cocktails are delicious (I don't know because I never got to try them, but I'm sure they are good!) then I would give the place 5 stars . . . but this really needs to be addressed. Thank you for reading! Cheers.
