OA School in the DMV area claims to offer Islamic education, but my experience has been extremely disappointing. Despite hearing positive word-of-mouth recommendations, I enrolled my son with high hopes for a nurturing educational environment. However, after witnessing the school's inner workings for a year, I can confidently say that OA School is the worst in Islamic education in the region.
From the moment you step into the classrooms, the lack of organization is evident. There are no assigned seatings for students, leading to constant shuffling and disruptions. Young children are asked to move by older kids, causing unnecessary stress and hindrance to their learning.
Moreover, the supervision at the school is woefully inadequate. Different age groups of students are carelessly mixed together, resulting in conflicts and unruly behavior. It's shocking to see children as young as eight tasked with supervising their peers or grading papers, leading to rampant bullying.
Although religious education is supposed to be a core focus, it falls short. While I have faith in Sheikh Mohamed, who teaches Quran, the language barrier of another teacher makes it difficult to understand her teachings or communicate effectively.
The promised dedicated teacher for language arts and writing seems to be nonexistent, with confusion over who is teaching what. As a result, the students' handwriting and language skills have noticeably declined.
With a shortage of teachers and limited resources, the children's educational needs are not adequately addressed. The management, particularly Salma, displays a dismissive and unprofessional attitude, blaming the child instead of addressing concerns constructively.
The absence of clear rules or by-laws is concerning, and constantly changing policies and regulations leave parents confused about the school's direction. The frequent scheduling changes also disrupt parents' plans.
Beyond the educational issues, the school's culture lacks inclusivity, neglecting important holidays and promoting a specific culture. Gossip and a lack of privacy among staff create an uncomfortable atmosphere.
As a result of my child's time at OA School, his enthusiasm for learning has significantly diminished. Instead of being excited about school, he dreads going. The school fails to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment, negatively impacting his education and overall well-being.
In conclusion, OA School is not a suitable choice for parents seeking a balanced education for their children. The numerous issues, including inadequate supervision, unprofessionalism, and disorganization, make it a risky and detrimental option. I strongly advise parents to thoroughly question the school's documentation, teacher qualifications, and ongoing training before considering enrollment. While OA School may seem convenient, it falls short of providing the proper educational environment that children deserve.
Prospective parents should exercise caution and diligently search for a school that genuinely prioritizes their child's education, well-being, and growth. I sincerely hope this review helps others avoid the disappointments and hardships we have faced at OA School." read more
