Half of my friends wanted to try this place out when we were going around the island while the other half went to try the Thai food. Might as well stop at both places! It's located next to Rancho Ace Hardware in a small plaza area across of the Ocean View Market. There's a parking lot with many stalls. The shop itself is relatively small and mainly a takeout place. My friends got a cheese and pepperoni pizza and a bunch of cookies that were as big, if not, bigger than our faces! They offered a variety of flavors but we got the chocolate chip and brownie ones. They were flat but huge! The pizza came out freshly baked, smelling really delicious. I love pizza that has enough cheese that stretches after that first bite. This was that kind of pizza! One bite into the pizza and cheesiness, spices and flavor fills the mouth. I'm not a big pizza fan, but I definitely enjoyed the few bites I stole off my friends. The brownie cookie (not a brookie, tho) was delicious too! My friends didn't care too much about the chocolate chip (never tried it). If you're in the area and want a simple pizza with loootd of cheese, this is your place. Not craving pizza? They also sell specials outside of pizza!

a slice of pizza on a paper plate

Zero Stars I'm sorry that was the worst Pizza I have ever encountered in my life there's maybe one piece of pepperoni on the pepperoni it was just nasty and I was not cheap. I can't even finish it .

The juices were fresh tasting. This place has a limited menu and hours due to recent storms affecting the property but quality of food and service was outstanding. Be patient while they repair and rebuild (including the town/roads getting here). Would return not just for the novelty of eating at the "southern most" US restaurant but for all the reasons a diner would frequent a food establishment.

A Little Hidden Gem Filled With Aloha…read more Hana Hou Restaurant was honestly the best food experience we had during our entire 8-day trip to the Big Island. We stayed in Waikoloa Village and explored Kona, Hilo, Volcano Park, South Point, the Green Sand Beach, and the Black Sand Beach, so we had plenty of opportunities to try different places. And somehow, this little hidden gem ended up being our favorite. We're from the Los Angeles area and were traveling with my husband and our teenage son, and from the moment we walked in, we felt something different here. The service was genuinely friendly, the employees seemed happy to be there, and there was such a warm aloha spirit throughout the restaurant. That kind of genuine hospitality was missing at some of the other places we visited. Even something as simple as sitting down for a cup of coffee on the morning of Day 5 of our trip felt like a pleasure. The vibe was relaxed, welcoming, and local. You could feel that this was a place connected to the community. And the food was AMAZING. My son ordered the pizza, and it was HUGE -- so big that he had enough left over for the next day. My husband had the chicken, and I ordered the noodles. Everything was delicious. But I have to talk about the papaya. I do not like papaya. At all. I was just craving some fresh fruit, so I asked what they had, and they told me they only had papaya. I figured, okay, I'll try it. It was HANDS DOWN the best papaya I have ever had in my life. I loved it so much that later in the trip, when we stopped at a fruit stand and I bought papaya, I was immediately disappointed because it wasn't even close to the papaya we had at Hana Hou! We've been to Maui and Oahu before, and this was our first trip to the Big Island. If you're traveling around the island, I highly recommend making a stop here. Don't let the fact that it's a little tucked away fool you -- this place is a true hidden gem. We're so grateful we found Hana Hou. The food was wonderful, the people were wonderful, and most importantly, we felt the aloha spirit here in a way that really stayed with us. Mahalo, Hana Hou, for being one of the highlights of our trip!

They serve Italian food, pastas, and a variety of pizzas, from a 10" personal to group sized. The pizza crusts passing by to nearby tables looked crusty/tall and yummy. We opted for pasta, the Trio for me (I chose the mushroom sauce-my favorite, Marinara-too spicy for me, and the Alfredo-standard fare) which was just right for my dinner $21; my coworker chose the Chicken Parmesan $27, which she enjoyed except she felt the chicken was on the dry side-and to be fair, we were there near closing. Both dishes were truly artfully and beautifully presented, by the way;). There's indoor, outdoor, and even bar seating, with a big screen tv, and a striking faux floral/greenery wall to enjoy. The service was good, though there was one very pleasant server covering the whole restaurant-so we didn't have a chance for a water refill. We were happy they were open until 8:30pm, as places in town and in this touristy area were either already closed, or close between 7-8pm; and though we didn't indulge in a specialty beverage, that bar sure did look inviting;)!

I expected more. I understand having a 10 top can be difficult. However, Weird negative vibes all night. I felt like we were annoying them when ordering. Every time we needed something we had to put effort into making eye contact and tracking down the staff. We all got one meal each and 1-2 drinks each which I think is beyond normal. There were so many small things that should have / could ave been done to the point the entire table looked at each other and questioned are we wrong ridiculous? (We weren't ) we had to negotiate a congratulations/ celebration dessert which came out so late we had to get to go. Personally if this was at my restaurant I would be chit chatting, asking question, bringing extra napkins, drink recommendations, the whole thing. This was just the bare minimum. Happy to get our foods & drinks ALMOST right.
