Ocean View Park is perfect for kids. There are so many slides and play areas. My kids had the best time running around and trying everything. The layout is really thoughtful with plenty of open space, shade, and spots for parents to sit and relax while the kids play. You can even catch a little ocean breeze! Definitely one of our new favorite parks in the area.

I was at a beach nearby and a search for a park brought me here. As far as parks go, this one has an amazing location. It does not have a running trail and is just for kids. But there were no kids when we were there and we had a blast on the slides! They have awesome slides here, reminds me of the Esmeralda slides in SF.

View of the he Santa Cruz per in the morning before it gets crazy !

Overall, nice park with a great view of the Santa Cruz pier and ocean. Not large but nice quite place to stop and take a rest or go for a quick walk Ended up here waiting for my hotel to be ready down the street Parking since you are coming through a residential zone is a little tough , but no problem in the morning. The park does not seem to have an independent parking lot It does have restrooms , kids play area , some small trails and great view Worth checking out and if in the area it won't take you long to stop , see the view , use the restroom if needed and probably not be back unless a local who all seem to walk their dogs through here Enjoy

just up the hill overlooking the santa cruz boardwalk...stopping by for a quick picnic lunch...couple picnic tables with tree shading, standard swings and play structure...quick lunch turning into a longer stay...slides, slides and more slides...back of the park sloping down a hill...multiple slides of all kinds to go down...twisting tunnel slides, fast slides, side-by-side slides and bumpy slides...it was very difficult to take the child away to get to the beach...

What I love about this park is that it is big enough for my kids to wander around, climb, 8 slides to choose from, and tumble about. I can have a general overview of my kids from atop w/o having to hold their hand every step of the way. Whilst they play, I can workout. A bench was used to do step-ups, box jumps, and incline push ups. I also did squats, walking lunges, and glute kickbacks as well. I hate just standing there.... It's clean. A restroom is on the premise. Kids can play. I can workout. A win-win.

Awesome slides and a great view of the boardwalk! The climbing section is for older kids but the park is pretty good. There's also a half court basketball court there as well.

I match my kids to their surroundings. :D J/K super fun slides.

Cool park with nice views and large slides. Our daughter (3 year old) had a lot of fun here doing the cardboard slides.

Small park. Interesting play structure for 5-12 year old kids. The slides are the top attraction though, they are really long and tall.

What a delightful State Park with medium and short trails that are coastal. We went at the end of…read morethe day, so we couldn't hike very far-- thus, we plan on returning another day when we could arrive earlier with the right gear (snacks, water, sunscreen, hat, camera, etc) because there is SO MUCH to see here! The trails aren't super long to get to cool sites, like seal pups and fern caves, and you get to gaze at beautiful wildflowers and bushes along the way, like giant calla lilies and blackberries. There were also many frogs croaking and birds singing while we were hiking, which created such unexpected symphonies. It also wasn't very crowded. We saw a few groups of casual hikers and a few joggers. There was some construction in areas close to the parking lot that was unsightly and a parking fee, but other than that, everything was just lovely. I can't wait to return to Wilder Ranch for a deeper exploration! [TIP: If you're a serious hiker who's looking for an all day trip, this isn't the location for you. Wilder Ranch is on the easy to medium hike level with trails that are fairly short, like 2.5 miles for one of the popular beach loops. You can, of course, make it a longer hike but exploring multiple trails or crossing the freeway to the other trails, but it is not the kind of location you can get lost. It's perfect for families and people who have a couple hours to spare.]

After parking you made about a mile walk to where the cliffs overlook the ocean. There is no beach access at this location. Parking with access was $10. Good price for the experience for my family of 3. After the 3 hour drive from Sacramento this visit was the perfect way to stretch our legs and also get some much needed steps in.

Since more people are out and about, we thought that UC Santa Cruz' arboretum would be just the change of scene we needed without the stress of the crowds/traffic. The arboretum was a decent size and can easily satisfy your curiosity in a few hours if you take the time to walk and read about the plants. They have several different "gardens" within, some based on plant type and some based on the countries the plants are native to. There are certain parts with more tree cover/shade than others, depending on the garden and the type of plants they have. The gardens were large enough, for the most part, to avoid running into people. There were several benches spread out throughout the gardens that were perfect to sit and relax at. There weren't too many animals or birds, but there were lots of small lizards around. Parking was easy to find and plentiful. The lot can be considered pretty small and is on a dirt road. There is a donation box to donate to the upkeep of the gardens, and there is a small gift shop (closed unfortunately when my husband and I had visited).
