Prospective families should be aware that the Executive Director does not operate in true…read morepartnership with parents. When concerns are raised, communication is handled in a dismissive manner rather than through collaboration or dialogue. Parent input is acknowledged superficially, key points are bypassed, and agreements made at the classroom level are not upheld at the executive level. After receiving an assessment that did not accurately reflect our child's abilities (completed less than two months into enrollment), we raised concerns about the lack of context, narrative, and communication. The teachers acknowledged the assessment was not an accurate reflection of her capabilities and agreed it should be updated to reflect her short acclimation period and current capabilities. However, when this was escalated to the Executive Director, those agreements were disregarded. Rather than updating the assessment as discussed, leadership insisted on singling out a child instead of correcting an administrative misstep. Requests to simply revise the original assessment with accurate context were dismissed. When we expressed concern about the long-term academic implications of having an inaccurate student record, we were dismissed. The Executive Director superficially acknowledged our concerns, and reasonable requests were met with inflexibility rather than problem-solving. A school's culture is shaped from the top. If families are leaving, leadership may want to reflect on how parent advocacy is received and addressed.

While there was nothing "wrong" with the previous school on paper, we never saw the kind of joy, excitement, and emotional connection to the environment that we now see every single day. Our son comes home telling us stories about his teachers and friends, and he literally doesn't want to leave when we pick him up. The teachers at Broadoaks have been so kind, nurturing, and patient with him (and he is very high energy!). It's clear they truly care about their students and create a supportive environment where kids can thrive. We are so grateful for the warmth and dedication of the Broadoaks staff--it has made our move to Whittier that much sweeter knowing our child is in such good hands.

It was important for me that my child was NOT another number, but an individual, with an identity. That my family would be known on a first name basis, and that her school would truly be " a home away form home"! Academics had to be strong, class size had to be small, campus had to be clean and in a nice area. Carden met all of these needs. Carden has helped me raise my daughter into a strong, intelligent young lady. She is more than prepared for her academic future! I decided to wait until I pulled my kids out to be as blunt and honest as I can without pointing out any one individual and also because I didn't want any retaliation from the one particular teacher! The school itself is nice and clean but that's about it! The parking situation is a nightmare! To pick up and drop off your kids is horrible! The streets become a tiny gridlock! The residents around the surrounding area cannot come or go for about an hour in the AM then again in the PM! The office and teaching staff is really nice... all except one! It might be that they all know each other on a personal level that the professional side of their job is not performed how it should be! I had no choice I had to enroll my kids in this school but as soon as I could I transfered them out! If you are new to the area... Do your research on the teachers! Ask questions! Ask Questions!! ASK QUESTIONS!!! Feel them out! If you get blank soulless stares go with your gut feeling! Believe your child if they come home and tell you the teacher doesn't want to help or ignores the questions asked! It was a horrible school year! When it should have been a memorable year! On a side note: There are no after school programs offered. There is NO 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony! The Halloween parade consists of walking around the parking lot once! But that first impression doesn't reflect what's happening inside. The infant room, in particular, is remarkably peaceful. It has a quiet, steady rhythm that feels very intentional and reassuring for both children and parents. As children grow, the toddler and preschool rooms are warm and thoughtfully decorated, with clear care put into making them feel inviting and engaging. There is a strong emphasis on creative play and hands-on activities. Crafts, imaginative play, and exploration seem to be in the daily routine in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Another standout is the teacher-to-child ratio and the continuity of teachers. It allows for a level of attention and familiarity that is hard to find, and it shows in how well the staff know and interact with each child over the years. We moved from Pasadena and were genuinely surprised by the affordability, especially given the quality of care and environment. When you do an apples to apples comparison by grade to leading schools, our kids perform far above grade level. The school has recently incorporated robotics and a campus wide STEAM program. The Principal is always working to update the technology available to the kids; there are laptops or iPads available to most every student. The performing arts are AMAZING, incorporating the culture of the predominately Latino-Professional school with a music mariachi program, Folklorico dancing program, choir, spring musicals, and fall plays.

If you fail to complete your hours you must pay $20 for school hours and $25 for church hours which totals to $900! Fundraising is another $750 a year. This school is not the best and I would recommend to search for another. Many families get here and leave the following year. The office and principal favors families that have been there for awhile.
