I was lucky enough to learn to scuba dive in the Cayman Islands and the memories that I have will…read morelive with me forever. An avid diver I dive all of the world as much and whenever I can. Not everyone can afford a lavish holiday spent learning such an art and getting there Padi qualification in order that they can then go and discover the wonderful underwater paradise that our planet provides. The solution to this problem lies with organisations like the London School of diving. Do all of your training and exams in the U.K. and once qualified you are free to go anywhere in the world and dive. High quality scuba instruction form these guy's will make it a pleasure to learn and they will take away any anxiety that you may have. The other benefit to learning here is that when you do go away, you don't eat into your holiday with the training and exams that are required before you are allowed to get in the water. Do it !! - Diving takes you to another world , it is amazing, LSD will take away the hard bit and allow you immediate access when you get to your destination.

I did an EFR and drysuit speciality course at the London School of Diving. The EFR (emergency…read morefirst responder) course was done onsite at their Chiswick premise, and I was very happy with it! The instructor was knowledgeable and friendly, and made the course a lot of fun! I felt that I really learnt a lot. The drysuit speciality was just OK - the instructor was again very friendly and knowledgeable and a big fan of drysuit diving. We did the course at Wraysbury, and the instructor had 4 OW (open water) students with him at the same time. He spent most of his time and effort with the OW students, which I can totally understand from a prioritisation perspective - these were new divers who really needed his time and attention to develop their skills, and I was an experienced diver. However, I felt because of this, I did not get as much out of my course as I wanted - for example my drysuit leaked as soon as I got in the water. I would expect that in a drysuit speciality course, the instructor should take the opportunity to start teaching me how to identify the source of the leak, how to cope with it, and even go into details later on how to repair the leak. However as he had his hands full with his OW students, he just checked if I was still happy to continue and got on with skills for the whole group. I think this is a scheduling issue that the school should really consider, to ensure that everyone gets the best from their courses. If I were to book a course with them again, it's certainly something I will check on first. I think the school has great instructors, but in this instance, the schedule did not allow them to teach.
