Blackberry farm is a pretty decent way to spend a day. It's a working farm, although that does seem…read moreto be secondary to the 'play-farm' side of things. There are a good number of different animals to see, including pigs, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, llamas, ferrets among others. They have several different activities on during the day. One that the kids found great fun was the handling of animals. The kids all sit around a table and the staff bring various animals out and they can stroke and handle them. The day that we were there they brought out giant rabbits, tiny baby chicks, a ferret and something else I've forgotten. It made a nice change to just looking at animals in cages and enclosures. You can buy bags of feed at the shop to feed the goats and llamas, ride in the tractor and go on pony rides! This was a big draw for the smaller children. Along with the animals there is a large indoor play area but outside there are some great play areas too. A smaller plastic slide and climbing frame arrangement for the smaller children, three large trampolines, a giant inflatable slide and an absolutely fantastic, massive covered bouncy castle. The best thing about it was the Emergency Exit - on the roof! They have a small café that sells cooked food and snacks along with some delicious homemade cakes, and the pre-requisite ice creams and fizzy pop! There are also some good natural snacks available. There were a couple of issues I had about this place though. The admission isn't cheap, although there is a fair amount of stuff to do, but the food isn't that cheap either. The girl serving us added our order up wrongly, and it was only through a quick bit of mental maths that I saved us £12. They also have a sign up mentioning the pony rides, we bought one at the same time as admission, although you don't get a ticket or anything. When it comes to actually having the ride they ask you for the money there - it was only because the person who served us originally was also there that we didn't have to pay again. It all seemed a little disorganised and thrown together for my liking, and some of the staff were a little surly. I would definitely go there again as the kids loved it but I'd have my wits about me next time.

Went for a day with family nucleus and it was a lovely day out. Wheelchair access is very good and…read moresmooth. We found the staff most polite and cheery. No evidence of any aforementioned scams, but I was on the lookout, (bombardier in 2008). Food wasn't bad but could be betternot sure I'd buy it again. May do picnic. My grandaughter has limited communication abilities but it was obvious she thoroughly enjoyed the day. Most definitely will be returning.

Compared to the postage stamp farms closer in to the city, this place is positively palatial, and…read moreseems to take up most of King George V Park. However it's probably just as densely populated with animals, including ponies, pigs, sheep and goats. The have hen coops where you are allowed to feed bread to the chickens, and a pond which has several species of duck and some rare geese. It's all very pretty and clean, though the cats ignore visitors and I couldn't blame them. Several visiting kids were going on about 'scaring the cats away', right in front of their smiling parents. What's that about? You've got to wonder if some people deserve places like this Being larger than the average city farm they can go a little further with the animals They have a shire horse, a very unfriendly turkey who was not happy with anyone coming near his domain, ferrets (not visible when I visited) peacocks and a kookaburra. You don't see one of them on a farm every day! Definitely recommended if you are in the area.

I work just around the corner from this farm, took me ages to visit but so glad that I did. I could…read morewalk there so I dont know about car parking. Though I know there is a park opposite the front gate to the farm which has a small car park. The farm itself is set out very well as soon as you enter you are greeted by a pen of goats and sheep, they look very well looked after. They also have pigs, chickens, horses, ponies and ducks to name but a few. They have special days during the summer when they have kids days out, I think they do face painting etc. Dont just pass this little attraction, go to it today, it is well worth a visit!
