The inventory was mostly heavily worn clothing, older furniture, and random odds and ends. We spent some time looking around but didn't find a single thing worth buying. The experience itself didn't help. There was a dog barking before we even came through the door. As we walked toward it, the dog was shut in a bathroom, and I overheard a comment suggesting it only reacted after seeing me. Since it had already been barking before I entered, that struck me as an odd and unnecessary thing to say. The front door was left wide open, and while browsing I was bitten by a flying insect inside the store. I ended up with welts afterward. I know bugs can happen anywhere, but it definitely wasn't something I expected while shopping indoors. The store also felt surprisingly loud and cramped. Between the barking dog, conversations carrying throughout the shop, and the tight layout, it wasn't a relaxing place to browse--even though we were the only customers there. What honestly surprised me most was seeing the near-perfect online ratings afterward. Everyone has different tastes, but based on my visit, I just don't understand the hype. I left empty-handed and with bug bites, which isn't exactly the thrift-store experience I was hoping for. I do wish the owners the best, but my visit was disappointing enough that I don't see myself returning.

Big Lots is similar to Ocean State Job Lot (another discount store), but this store seems slightly smaller than a Job Lot. This store offers plenty home goods, hardware, yard supplies, electronics, music & movies, seasonal decorations/supplies, baby stuff, toys, health & beauty things, groceries from around the "world", snacks, drinks, apparel, pet supplies, and a big section in the back left corner with furniture and mattresses. There are plenty of clearance items throughout the store too. This store unfortunately does not have a book dept, which Ocean State Job Lot offers. I stopped in here recently and this store was offering 20 percent off everything in the store for one day. I picked up a $5 pair of headphones and a $6 USB adapter/card reader for my SD Card/MS Duo media, which was discounted by 20 percent to $8.80. The staff here worked efficiently and the two lines of customers moved swiftly.
