Their customer service is terrible. I've had a number of bad experiences with Oceans.
My first, I had ordered a large chips and four chocolate cake slices. The majority of us that wanted to order food wanted dessert. Nothing wrong with that! Any normal business that doesn't have it stocked would phone and offer an alternative.
Not Oceans! A grumpy and very rough Chinese looking bloke (Can't call him a gent) turned up at the door late, handed me the food and without eye contact muttered angrily Not doing this again. Got to be mostly proper food. Excuse me? I simply took this as a challenge. If they sell it, have it in stock and it's above the amount of money they're asking for delivery, then they deliver it! I simply explained how I write reviews, he'll be getting a negative one, and this isn't going to stop me if we all want cake.
They are terrible with timing. When they say they'll be here at a certain time, I expect it 5 minutes either side of that time, and that's me being lenient. Arriving 40 minutes before the time stated is not acceptable.
The last time we ordered, it was at 5pm. They stated the expected delivery time as 5:40. 10 minutes later we phoned and asked whether we could delay it until 6pm, as we still had cleaning to do in the house. The man on the phone rudely kept exiting the conversation to mutter at another man in a foreign language and giggle. He would then put the phone back to his ear and say Hello? This happened three times in one phone call. When I finally managed to say that we'd like the food 20 minutes later than the expected time, they said No, he's on the way now. I said No, the expected time is in half a hour and the shop is only 5 minutes away. After the mini struggle it was made clear they would be delivering to us at 6 or we cancel this order. We wouldn't have made such a fuss, but they were planning on delivering half a hour early!
Why have I ordered again? 1 My fiancé used to like the chicken nuggets (Though last time he said they weren't very nice). And 2 I love a challenge. I'm a woman that stands up for herself and demands proper customer service. I'll bet the rude Chinese bloke was either fired or scared of me, as they now send a different, more polite man! read more
