Very freindly staff, Have been 3 times, two check ups - one time i had to cancel a booking for a filling, took a while to answer the phone and wasnt very enthusiastic but still had no problems re-organising the appointment. Had a filling done, had a long wait but when in, the female dentist was extremely freindly and settled any nerves. I shouldnt have worried, there was no pain whatsoever! although i hear the male dental asisstant laugh as he put the suction device in my mouth, i think he found that funny. altogether a nice freindly place and staff settle any nerves that you may have. Lacked any decent magazines in the waiting area. read more

I had an appointment with a man who hardly spoke English. I had been told by my previous dentist (I moved as my old dentist was in another part of the country) that I urgently needed a filling, yet this dentist said nothing was wrong and that I simply had to improve my brushing technique. 2 months later I had to have a root canal (needless to say, at my previous dentists) and have more serious work to be done. My appointment here was rushed and unprofessional. I searched long and hard for a dentist in Southampton, and after reading a couple of good reviews about Ocean dental I decided it must be OK. I would not recommend this place to anyone, that's if you can actually get them to answer the phone and get an appointment. Definitely a no go. read more

My experience with Ocean has always been good. I have had several check-ups here and some work done too - they have always been friendly, welcoming and professional, with short waiting times. I never find it difficult to get an appointment as there are several dentists working at the practice. read more

I recently registered here as an NHS patient and went along for a check up. I found the dentist friendly and professional, I didn't feel rushed and the receptionist was also really friendly and helpful. read more

I've had two different dentists from Ocean Dental Centre. The first said I needed a filling behind my front tooth replaced. So he replaced it, but covered the front of my two front teeth in the white filing material. I looked awful and I couldn't floss (since I couldn't get it between the teeth!). I ended up going back to get it filed down, but it's still a real shoddy job. Another dentist 6 months later told me I needed another filling replaced. I have never had such aggressive dental work ever, She was vicious injecting the anaesthetic (after telling me I should be brave and not bother with the anaesthetic in the first place), didn't wait for it to set it, and then patronised me when I told her it was still hurting. The whole procedure took less than 6 minutes (including the injection, drilling out the old filling, putting in new filling etc). I've had fillings before and never have they been so quick (rushed) and violent. read more

After having been with a Private practice, with whom I was very unhappy with I decided to return to the NHS. My first appointment was for a check up and I was even nervous about that. The reception staff were extremely friendly and the dentist that I saw put me at my ease, was professional and most importantly very thorough. A few months later I had to return, as a molar was causing me tremendous pain and felt loose. As I had feared I had to have an extraction. I was petrified but within 10 minutes it was out, fast and most importantly totally painless. I has previously had an extraction with the private practice and not only did it hurt but it took twice as long. As someone who is a nervous reck at the dentist I can definitely recommend this practice. read more

Chipped a tooth recently and within a week i was seen to by a dentist at Ocean Dental. Friendly staff who keep in contact to organise the appointment. Don't know the Dentist name but he was excellent, its a week or so since the work and he's done a great job. I was in the chair for sometime but i guess i'd rather him take his time then just rush the job. For an NHS service this is first class and i used to hate the dentist, first visit in ten years. Been here for a few years, for routine nhs check-ups and the odd bit of work to be done. Found the treatment ok, reception staff fine, but it is really, really difficult to get through on the phone; an answer machine cuts in very early and if staff eventually call back, it is usually at a time when I can't take a call. Seem to have a high turn-over of dentists. read more
