The last time I experienced service this good was the the St. Regis Hotel in New York which is a historic and iconic 5 star hotel where the cheapest rooms usually go for about $1000 USD a night. I also suspect that the service at the St. Regis was that good because they knew I was a travel agent that would later recommend (or not) their hotel to my clients.
Anyways, the service at Ocean Restaurant was PERFECT! And it wasn't just because the place was nearly empty. My parents had gone when it was 100% full and the service was just as perfect. The staff was friendly, genuine, attentive and yet not overbearing, very professional and impeccably trained and well-mannered.
Not only was the service perfect, but the food was GREAT! Not your typical Mexican food, very different, somewhat experimental, quite gourmet and very good. Some of the things on the menu might look strange, but give them a shot and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Since it was a slow night, after dinner we spent about an hour having a very stimulating conversation with the manager and one of the head waiters about development in the Huatulco area, tourism trends, what makes the area unique, local politics and COFFEE! It's amazing how knowledgeable, well informed and involved the locals are in the future of their community! And to top it all off, the prices are definitely reasonable relative to the tasteless and overpriced food you'll often find in American restaurants. You cannot go to Huatulco and skip this restaurant! read more
