Camping World is right next door which is convenient if you forgot or need anything while you're staying there. They resemble the Tiny House trend you read so much about in Miami; they are tiny and they are houses, and they are super-cute. I really enjoyed staying in mine. If you are thinking about RV parks as disorganized, dirty and depressing places, Lake in the Forest will surprise you. It is immaculate, everything is well maintained and it feels consistently like a good part of town. There are a lot of nice places around the park where you can contemplate and enjoy nature. The place was almost empty when I visited so there was unlimited peace and quiet to enjoy. I would actually say it was a bit too peaceful and quiet. I didn't realize until almost time to leave that there was an active social center in the middle of the place that might have been interesting. Perhaps it was having just come from Disney, where it is impossible to get lost for more than five minutes without being legally blind, but it would have been nice to see a few signs pointing me towards favorite places within the property. There was a notebook in the house with lists of addresses of things to do, but it would have been nice overall to have more detailed descriptions of possible activities. As it turns out, the right thing to do is to ask the staff, who had an encyclopediac store of information when asked and could not have been more cordial. Some of the RVs are decorated with lights and effects in ways reminding me of Burning Man or Love Burn if it had been done on a really strict budget. The clientele are entirely pickup and RV folks. Hardly anyone had cars. I had my new-to-me pre-owned Mercedes and felt a touch out of place, the city slicker in the country, almost like I was invading a world I didn't quite understand. That was silly of me and amused me more than anything, but this is definitely not Miami. The few people I met were very nice, and the owner was exceptionally helpful, pointing out sights I would enjoy and showing me her own personal 80 acres of nature. I knock off a star for two things :The gate procedure and the checkout procedure. The office shuts down at 4:00pm and they close the gate allowing entry into the park. After that to enter or exit you need to get out of your car, release it, return to your car, drive through it and then close it again. So it feels like you are trapped in or shut out. The owner tells me that the gate serves its purpose of preventing pesky neighborhood kids and the like from coming in and annoying everyone, but there's no question it made me feel a bit alienated from the place. They intend to replace it with an electric gate eventually and that should solve the problem. Checkout requires that customers clean out the room, bring the sheets to the main cabin, take out the trash, wash dishes, empty and wipe out refrigerator, sweep the place clean and so on. This is a lot of physical labor for someone for whom that is, well, not his strong suit. They charge you a $60 fee if you don't comply. With my complete lack of domestic engineering talent this is not very hospitable. I wouldn't mind paying $30 but $60 just seems excessive. WiFi, while available, did not work well during my visit. I have Verizon's Unlimited cellphone plan and that worked fine for my stay. I simply tethered my computer and iPad with the phone and had fine functional access, despite the remote location. If you want to use the WiFi, they have several different networks with different passwords for each one. So you might want to program each one individually into your devices. A pain, but having all of them accessible would probably make it easier to find a functioning network. At $350 per week, I felt the value for money was outstanding. The place is pleasant, relaxing and very well kept up.

But enough about the bike trail. Sandy Oaks is very quiet and very clean. They encourage you to wash your car and camper as they want to keep the park looking good. Most parks I've been in don't let you wash your car. Bath and showers are clean and well maintained and the laundry has 10 washers and dryers. They also have group activities and gatherings. We find it comfortable and well situated. But be aware that some of the spots are quite small. Not like a state campground.

BEWARE! Felt RIPPED OFF, Not customer oriented!. On Dec 16,…read more2023, my husband and I booked a 7-day RV stay at Sandy Oaks RV Park, Beverly Hills FL 34465. This was 9 weeks in advance of our Feb 18, 2024 arrival, planned so we could be close to a family member was scheduled to have surgery mid-Feb. Over Christmas we learned the date/location for surgery had changed. We immediately called to cancel and because we were at Day 55 (5 days into their 30 - 60 day window) for a full refund, they kept 50% of what we paid plus $40 admin fee. They charged us $279 out of the $355 we paid. They only had our reservation for 12 days!!!! We called and talked with Jodee, the manager, who was unwaivering and adamant those were the rules. We pointed out their website stated "50% of your security deposit plus $40 administrative fee" would be charged, not the entire amount of the 7-day stay. (Wow, we made a HUGE mistake paying 100% up front.) Our fellow RV-friends agreed that a refund of $279 for holding a reservation for 12 days was unreasonable and not consistent with their stated cancellation policy. They called and spoke with two different staff members who told them the 50% applied to 1st night's stay, not the entire 7 nights. e.g., cancellation charges would be $36 plus $40 admin totaling $76. Jodee charged us $279! Beware! this is not a nice "friendly and helpful" RV Park. Be sure to double check EVERYTHING before booking with them so you're not "ripped off" like we feel we were.

Bathroom and showers show some wear and tear. Not too many places to eat nearby, but the restaurant across the street is very good. Otherwise you'll have to drive towards Ocala, about 15 miles away.

First and foremost, the bathrooms were downright filthy and frequently out of toilet paper. It was clear that they hadn't been cleaned in quite some time, with dirt and grime accumulating in every corner. It is frustrating to think that such a basic necessity could be so neglected, especially for a campground that aims to attract visitors. Additionally, the overgrown vegetation was another major issue. The lack of lawn maintenance during the entire month we were there made the campground feel unkempt and uninviting. This neglect also contributed to an explosion of bugs--we were absolutely swarmed! We realize this is Florida and the bugs can be very bad this time of year. That is why it is very important to keep the facility well-maintained and clean to help combat this problem. The infestation made it hard to enjoy any outdoor activities. Being there in August, we were particularly looking forward to enjoying the pool. Unfortunately, while it was open when we arrived, it was locked the very next day due to "maintenance issues" that were never resolved throughout our entire stay. This was incredibly disappointing, especially in the heat of summer when a pool could have made all the difference. Another one of the amenities to this facility was a recreation lounge with a pool table. Unfortunately there was no air-conditioning which made it completely unusable unless you wanted to use it as a sauna. To top it all off, the manager, Amber, left much to be desired in terms of customer service. She was incredibly rude and dismissive when we brought up our concerns about the state of the facilities. Initially, we approached our concerns in a friendly and constructive manner, hoping to address the issues and improve our stay. However, as the month went on, her attitude worsened. She started treating us as if we were acting like first-class citizens who always got their way, when in reality, we are just normal horse people who understand what it takes to run a facility like this. It was disheartening to realize that, despite our genuine concerns, Amber seemed more interested in dismissing us than addressing the problems at hand. As time went on, the worse her attitude became, which was incredibly frustrating. Overall, I would not recommend Goethe Trailhead Ranch RV Campground to anyone looking for a clean and welcoming environment. It's a shame to see a place with such potential being run into the ground. The folks residing here are friendly & tend to watch out for one another, which is reassuring. Located on Lake Rousseau, where the fishing is plentiful. They have a small bathhouse (1 shower) & a nice laundry (3 washers @ $1.75/3 dryers at $1 per load). There's no cable & OTA is unreliable, but the wifi is excellent. TV channels are not consistent, but I really haven't missed watching it very much. Although I do watch a few channels occasionally, it's given me a great opportunity to catch up on some reading. Speaking of reading, there is a book exchange area in the laundry. These folks also own Big Bass Village RV down the road, so you can't always catch someone in the office, but the manager (Suzie) got back with me very quickly when I emailed her from the address on the website. I think the owners are really working hard to make this a beautiful place. It has great potential, it's VERY reasonably priced (lower than anyone else in the area), & are quick to answer questions or suggest sights/views/restaurants. I'm really glad that this was the RV park we chose for our stay in this pretty part of Florida.
